  1. Pool & dart league starts tonight, and normally we close with a nightcap of Captain & Coke, but after today... sorry, gotta go now!
  2. Like when trying to shake things up with pink font or hiaku day, any chance we can get just one cuss-filter free IGT day?
  3. Why not give Rivera a chance to lift a fly ball?
  4. So, with as hot (and angry) the Fielder is, this inning will he swing so hard that: A) a line drive takes off Wood's head B) a monster shot takes out windows across the street C) swings & misses an epheus pitch and tears his rib cage muscles apart, bringing a symbolic end to the Brewers season (remember how the 3B black hole was re-born to start the dog days of summer swoon)
  5. Not living in Milwaukee, I only get to see the Brewers' nationally televised games (and even all of those, depending on regional selection). I think the last game I watched the Brewers win was the 6-3, 10 inning affair in St. Louis during the sweep. ESPN is blacked out where I am at. Game is not on FSN, it's on WMLW, which isn't broadcast up here. Blackout guidelines are outdated and crap! (This little fact doesn't change my opinion in the above statement, especially for my cable neighbors... but for DirecTV subscribers, check out bonus viewing on channel 740 tonight http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  6. For what it is worth - my credit union (and I know of at least one other in town, Wausau), that pays 4-6% interest on CHECKING account balances - no minimums and about as fluid as you can get. But to qualify for that rate, you need to have electronic payroll deposit and receive monthly statements electronically, plus use your debit/credit card as a credit card at least 10 times in a month. Using their debit card as a (VISA) credit card is easier than writing a check, and does not have interest fees applied, as it is still coming out of your checking account. Pays better than most savings accounts, so I've even moved my savings balance to that account. Not sure if anyone is offering packages like that in your neck of the woods, but if you can meet those electronic requirements, it seems worth it to me for that extra money every month.
  7. Or at least 49.999% - At a softball tournament this summer, we had one land in a soft spot and actually stand up on edge
  8. Despite other cover-up stories, I believe the Bobcats name was ego driven? Weren't they really named after team owner Bob Johnson...sad, IMO.
  9. Get a good team of lawyers & business minds and figure out a way to break that undermarket FSN contract. Come'on, this is sports, who doesn't break contracts? I don't have a great argument to support the adults that have problems working around the eating/drinking issue for 3 hours; well, except for diabetics. And then there really should be an allowance for children, whether in my group or the adjacent one, it's not fair to the neighboring fans if there are whining or crying kids nearby. So if you're gonna start making exceptions for one group, then...
  10. GYPE - you're not alone, I experience the same thing you are describing.
  11. Heard something on the radio on the way home today from one of the local guys up here that thought was a good comment to pass along, apologies if it is not an original thought, but it went something like this - "So, Cardinals, getting swept 4-0 at home last time and getting a 12-0 beating the night before wasn't enough to wake you up, but an exuberant relief pitcher did the trick? Good thing he ws followed by some BP guys throwing BP pitches, or you would have seen those untucked shirts completing another sweep in your home ballpark."
  12. Sadly, I initially rooted for the younger-Pujols to get the MVP over the veteran-Bonds, but now he can't deal with it when the roles are reversed... he better get used to it, cuz once Braun gets his plate discipline under control, those trophies will be residing in Milwaukee. But what first turned me off to Pujols was how he dumped on the scout that got him into baseball - http://sports.espn.go.com...potlight&lid=tab2pos1
  13. I, too, have grown up to enjoy the Supper Club (and Bar & Grill) experience and food, more than any dedicated restaurants (or chains). If anyone finds themselves spending time in the Wausau Area, I highly recommend the Loading Zone.
  14. I'll second the appreciation for the viewpoint from a third-party fan. Does anyone know if there is a definitive view that can confirm that Villy was shouting into the Cards dugout? The batter popped a foul ball up in front of their dugout, and who is to say that Villy wasn't yelling something to Kendall for helping him get out of that jam? From my views, Villy only directed something specificly towards Pujols after the F-bombs started coming from the Cards side.
  15. Congratulations Mr. Pujols, you've officially gone from an up-n-comer on my list to a full fledge knob, like the Cubs Big 3. http://blogs.jsonline.com...-fires-on-villanueva.aspx "He did us a favor. He woke up a sleeping giant. They beat us all year long. You don't have to do something stupid like that. I respect the game. I wanted him to know I didn't appreciate that." Good to know you think you were good enough to be napping for the previous five games at home against the team ahead of you in the Wild Card chase.
  16. Disappointing on many levels. Have things changed that much since I played little league? Our league was for 9-12 year olds, so to be a 9-year old facing a 12-year old pitcher could be intimidating... but like another mentioned, good opportunity to work on your bunting skills. Every team had an above average 11 or 12-year old pitcher that could easily throw into the 50's (mph)... the All-stars are getting into the 60's. So I'm a little dismayed with the issue of facing a 40mph pitcher (with reportedly no control issues). Now, this was an 8-10 age league, so a little different, but what is this kid gonna do for another year (can't risk a Chinese gymnastic controversy and have him move up a league too young http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  17. Maybe he is buying it with the same intent as the guy who bought the Bartman baseball... to blow it up http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  18. It always makes for great highlight clips when the play-by-play guys says something like, "a homerun here from Cameron would put the Brewers up"... then BAM! (He did something like that a week or two ago with a Ryan Braun two-strike comment, too)
  19. Back-to-Back nights with stupid fans reaching out for a live ball, and this one costs the Brewers a base. Do they really not get it?
  20. Check out Channel 726, not sure it is suppose to be on here, but enjoying it while it lasts.
  21. Start with Soriano, Zambrano & Ramirez for sure, With Manny & Pujols both moving up the list, And Eckstein - probably just jealously... how does a 5'7" slap hitter with a shot put throw make millions in this game (Daron Sutton's man-love didn't help the problem). Can I have a dishonorable mention for Ozzie as a manager? Edit: I type too slow, glad to see that I'm not the only one bothered by Manny & Eckstein
  22. Still photo on ESPN - http://sports.espn.go.com...3549913&story=3549903
  23. ^ Or perhaps he watches too much ESPN (and the like), and sees the Manny Ramirez, Alfonso Soriano, Terrell Owens & Randy Moss of the World showboat with their immense talent in spite of traditional sportsmanship values. More coverage = More endorsement deals.
