  1. I don't think he needs a night off unless he's really struggling and he certainly is not struggling. That guy can play 162 this year.
  2. Those are quite possibly the worst BVP splits I've seen for Fielder (4 hits in 45 ABs, 2 BBs, 15 Ks, .250 OPS). In fact, after looking it up on Baseball Reference, that's the lowest OPS Prince has vs. a pitcher(minimum 20 PAs)
  3. Managers do this all the time and it bugs me too. Lopez could lead off and Hart should be hitting 3rd. Edit: still no Holliday for the Cards: Furcal Jay Pujols Berkman Freese Craig Molina Theriot Carpenter
  4. I'm not that computer savvy, but I agree with what everyone has said. A couple of years ago we bought a 17" dell laptop with plenty of bells and whistles and it's simply too much computer for what we need it for (internet, music, MLBTV). It cost around $1000 and I'm sure we could have gotten something that would have been more appropriate for half the price. That 17" screen just looked sweet on-line! The computer itself runs fine, especially consider we're running Vista (I know, I should be ashamed). I wish we would have gotten a warranty. One drop of milk cost us $300 and now the left click on the mouse pad doesn't work.
  5. That was great! Thanks for sharing. Go get 'em Crew!
  6. Grienke can go on regular rest, but Estrada or someone else will still need to pitch the next day, lest Marcum pitch on three days rest.Wow, umm yeah, not enough coffee yet! It's not really Melvin's M.O. to rush up a 22 year old from AA to make 1 or 2 spot starts is it? I don't have any examples, but it seems like he's more likely to call up an older, fringe prospect from AAA.
  7. Wait, if the Brewers think he'll only miss one start, why can't Greinke go on normal rest? We had an off day Monday. Because there are no off days in sight (plus a doubleheader to boot)?
  8. Probably injuries. Carlos Gomez also got hurt the week following the AS break. GoGo, Braun and Weeks lead the team in attempts. I would have thought Nyjer Morgan would have more than 6 SBs through 261 PAs though. Might have something to do with him hitting 2nd and not being the most efficient base stealer throughout his career.
  9. I've been nervous/stressed out since last night's game ended. I re-watch the Tony Gumbel interview and it put me in a better mood. Go get 'em Woof (as the Cardinal announcers pronounce his name)! Let's score double digits Crew!
  10. I hope professional baseball players can get over these types of losses faster than fans can. I didn't sleep very well last night and I'm still upset about this one. I mean it's ONE game. Even the best teams in history lose 60-70 games a year, but this one hurts. It feels like a football game when you can go back through the game and come up with a dozen "what ifs" and think about how the outcome could have changed. It's probably a good thing we have a laid back manager. Hopefully he has the guys ready to go tomorrow. It's only one game, It's only one game, It's only one game, It's only one game, It's only one game, It's only one game, It's only one game... http://organiseme.files.wordpress.com/2010/08/serenity_now.jpg
  11. The Cardinal Way: ordering bean balls and spitting on umps
  12. Marcum's ERA is 3.33, not 4.50. Edit: And he's 10-3. Looks like Greinke's stats entering yesterday's match.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  13. I am setting the over/under at 0.5. Any takers?
  14. Was just going to post this.....too funny. http://mlb.mlb.com/video/...-8438768256076010613-996 I love the caption under that video: It makes it seem like the interview will be so pedestrian and then boom, Tony Gumbell shows up.
  15. Playoff series are rare for the Brewers. Our magic number is 52. In 5-6 weeks we can hopefully worry about this.
  16. I'd love to get Stewart.....In the off-season. How can you possibly add a guy hitting less than .150 to a roster that it's in a penant race? How could you justify giving that guy ABs? Now, in a new season when his head has cleared and has worked with a new hitting coach, yes, I'd love to steal him from the Rockies and push McGehee for the starting job,
  17. I didn't believe the Domonic Brown rumors. Brown has to have 5+ years of team control left and has lots of potential as a 23 year old. Thanks Phils for taking the Astros best hitter out of the lineup just as they happen to face our Brewers.
  18. I'm sure the rumor is legit, but it makes me wonder how many of these situations there are at any given moment. I mean: Sounds like not one, but two HUGE hurdles need to be crossed before a deal is agreed upon to me. DM could have half a dozen deals as close to being completed at this during this time of year and most of them fizzle out when negotiations get to a critical point.
  19. Well, on BF.net's Power 50 Green only comes in at 17. That wouldn't be a top prospect. That was last updated at the end of May so I'm not sure how much he's risen in the eyes of the minor league experts around here since then.
  20. Rickie's ankle is probably the size of a watermelon by now.
  21. The first replay I saw I yelled in pain. Thought it was broken, but it's hard to break an ankle. Probably a really bad sprain. Ugh
  22. Dunn's first base defense and base running almost completely negate his offensive value when he is hitting. When he's not hitting, well, you get the picture.
  23. Matt Thornton maybe? Ugh, please no. Not that I don't like Thornton. What kind of value can we expect Gamel to have though? I know he hasn't had a fair chance, but he hasn't hit in MLB yet, is 26 and it's uncertain where he'll play in the field. Not sure why the Sox want him unless they will throw him in a corner OF spot or think he can play 3rd.
  24. Matt Thornton maybe? Thornton is owed quite a bit of money over the next 2+ seasons I believe. Still, a bullpen of Axford, Frankie, Thornton and Saito is pretty nice. Thornton is not JUST a LOOGY either.
