  1. I like Owens and Swihart but in reality it would take Guerra and probably Braun to make this happen.
  2. Very well said & I agree wholeheartedly The lefty power bat is huge, hard to fine, and should not be underestimated. Fits in the Stearns mode of athletic versatilty much better than the one dimensional Carter, too Yes and yes. We were so lefty-deficient it was causing issues. This will help in the way opposing pitchers will have to approach our lineup late in games - especially in that it's likely he hits behind Braun.
  3. Please. Please. Just package him with Braun and bring us Urias. I know Urias is a tough-get but this is an example of how we could have an avenue to a cornerstone-ace and the Dodgers already have interest in Braun. Throw cash in if you have to. I know it's a pipe dream though but my point is this is a perfect situation to spice up Braun to net something really substantial.
  4. If they could swing Martes for Braun + cash I'd be in immediately.
  5. The more I think about it the more I'm convinced that we need to move Chris Carter now. His price is going to rapidly increase and although Carter has always shown power, co-leading the NL in HRs was something that no one saw coming. To me, it's less probable he can repeat that with his contact issues. We could get something for Carter at this point. Should he regress at all in 2017, with his price increases, we'd very likely not get anything in return for him.
  6. I actually think Jason Castro has enough power as a catcher for his bat to play up at MP. Not sure about what he'd cost though.
  7. The more I look at Valencia's year last season, his salary, etc this makes a more and more sense to me.
  8. Clevlinger, Aiken and Mejia and sign me up.
  9. I agree. Each day Lucroy's value considering his contract deminishes a little bit. He gets injured anytime for the rest of the season and he's still in a Brewers uniform it would be a massive fail.
  10. I would be absolutely thrilled if Lucroy to the Rockies netted either Jon Gray or Jeff Hoffmann. I don't see this as probable but maybe the drafting of Riley Pint loosened this thought up for them a little bit. The definitely have arms we desire....
  11. Anything can happen, but if it were a bet in Vegas (which it probably is somewhere), I'd bet my house that Puk doesn't fall to us at five. That being said I'm for pitching first unless Kyle Lewis falls to us - which isn't very likely either. So it's pretty much Pint vs. Groome for me and I think they'll both be there. So if you have to select between them, which one?
  12. Man I hope this is true about Gatewood.
  13. Oswaldo Arcia seems destined for this organization one way or another.
  14. People should be ecstatic right now. We went from a bottom-five system to a top-five system in a year. Frankly, that's amazing to me. This could have gone way worse.
  15. The Rockies are also actively trying to sign Gallardo so upgrading their rotation is a priority for them.
  16. I woudn't add any pieces if this were to go down. McMahon is a good prospect, but Peralta is team-controlled and an established starter that's still very promising. Even with the injuries I still think Peralta has slightly more value at present. Slightly.
  17. Yes, Alcides Escobar's defense is worth 5.25 million dollars. Andrelton Simmons will earn 8-million dollars this coming season and is bested by Escobar in every offensive measure. For what it's worth Alcides Escobar is an above-average offensive shortstop.
  18. Huh? 25-million Dollars? Are we in some sort of Bizarro-world? Please explain further...
  19. If the Brewers left I would, for the first time, seriously consider moving out of Wisconsin. The Brewers are the counter-balance to the cold months for me. I would still remain a fan but I'd probably check in a little more on the Twins and Indians - two AL teams I don't hate. I'm not sure if I could bring myself to be a White Sox fan, but I'm guessing there'd be some extra trips South for live baseball. I will not go to Wrigley out of safety concerns that the building may fall on me.
  20. How exactly are you drawing the conclusion his stats will get better away from Coors if the stats say otherwise? Didn't we have this same thinking behind Jeffrey Hammonds back in the day? To me, trying to import Coors Field offense is dangerous.
  21. Agreed. This also applies to Will Smith. Except in Smith's case an injury could be replaced with one or two blown-up innings in relief. Deal them both now while its predictable.
  22. I'm guessing if they have to hold one back at triple-A they'd probably default to Lopez as his ceiling may be higher and they have a longer investment history with him. One other note, I would also bet that Smith doesn't close to start the season if he's with the team. It makes more long-term sense to me to test Jeffress at a full-time closer role now as Smith looks like prime trade bait. Even if Smith starts the season with the team he's the one that fits a need on 90% of the other clubs come deadline time. I think that's the exact reason Smith starts in the closer role. More likely to deal him so let him build up his value then move jeffress there after the deadline Other teams are well aware of Smith's value. Adding some saves isn't likely to add anything of relevance to Smith as a team would most likely would not be acquiring him to close but as a strategic LHP. I just see it as more likely that the RHP in Jeffress would close as managers generally appreciate the option of a reliable LH reliever at hand before the ninth.

  24. I wonder if Smith by himself could get us Stewart back without involving anyone else. I doubt they'd give up Berrios in a straight swap, but Stewart's stock is down somewhat although he is still young.
  25. Agree completely. Davis is playing near his ceiling right now. This was the best-case scenario when he was scouted coming up or close to it.
