  1. Last 15 games Pina is hitting .272 with 4 HR, 8 RBI and a .322 OBP. That isn't world beating... but if a .272 Pina with power is a not great or slumping version of Pina ... I think we are fine.
  2. I'm assuming that is in response to me... and no. My answer would be no. This team was suppose to be historically bad and their pitching has outperformed its expectations, but now that they have we should raise our expectations further? Shaw is hitting .290+ and hitting for power so should we now expect him to be a .300 hitter in the second half? Again, I'm not upset... it is just a mindset that is foreign to me is all.
  3. Have our fans always been this finicky? Is it simply amplified because we are winning a bit this year? Fan bases complain... I get it and as a Packers fan I've always rolled my eyes at how entitled some fans have been towards that team in the last decade + ... however it seems to be on a new level this year with the Crew. Broxton goes on a 2+ week barrage and hits like 8 HRs .. now he has a couple off games and fans want him benched. Villar is the worst human in the world. Our bullpen is a joke out side of 2 guys as is our starting pitching staff (while we are actually 12th in the league in ERA). Thames needs a day off. Counsell doesn't smile enough. Bernie's costume needs cleaning. Up until a month ago Santana needed to be traded. Brinson is over matched and no longer our top prospect. I'm not mad at anyone, you are all entitled to enjoy the game however you do.. But man do we complain a lot.
  4. Also, Cubs currently down 5-3 in the 8th. Could be a great little afternoon for us.
  5. Jared Hughes in the month of June: 2-0. 2.45 ERA, 11 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 11 SO
  6. So when did Arcia become the 2nd best offensive player on the team?
  7. So when did Arcia become the 2nd best offensive player on the team?
  8. You could probably say Vogt and Co. had been down in the dumps for awhile...
  9. Davies hit it off the end of his bat to 1st. Vogt went on contact and beat the not so good throw. Fielders choice for Davies. That seems pretty straight forward. Gamecast made it sound like a circus play. Thanks.
  10. Gamecast is confusing on that Davies at bat. Can anyone assist me?
  11. Just think about the hero status of Vogt had he not been robbed of that 3 run shot in Cincy. I hope the lefty/Miller Park thing turns him into another great story.
  12. So at minimum I think Aguilar needs to get every start against a lefty. The difference in splits between him and Thames against LHP are too great, even if the sample size is only a few months. But aside from that it should almost be a 50/50 split, at least until Aguilar cools down a bit. Every time he makes contact it is a rocket somewhere.
  13. I'm not at all disagreeing with you.. because that makes sense. Except I am, because our opening day starter this year makes it not true. My assumption is that Espino is exactly what we think he is but I think Milwaukee will give him a much longer leash than any of us fans would because that is what teams in a rebuild do. Yes we are in first place and want to win, but we are also rebuilding and will continue to let guys have an ample shot to prove themselves, be it a young hotshot with a left handed + fastball or an 'old' castoff with a forgettable one.
  14. Not to be too nitpicky but you contradicted yourself a bit here. 8 innings isn't enough to change your opinion on Hader but it has only taken 15 innings for Espino to prove he doesn't belong?
  15. If we hadn't just signed vogt would we be interested in Montero? Should we still be interested in him anyway?
  16. To throw a little more gasoline on the optimistic fire ... Miller Park ranks very favorably for left handed power hitters, which Vogt would fall into that category. (source: http://www.espn.com/fantasy/baseball/story/_/page/mlbdk2k16_parkfactors/which-parks-most-least-favorable-fantasy-baseball-hitters-pitchers-mlb) (I remember Stearns mentioning this specifically while going after Shaw). Take away all the foul territory from Oakland and add a favorable landing area in right and right center for a lefty ... Vogt's numbers theoretically should recover slightly if no other adjustments are made.
  17. Here is something to chew on. Travis Shaw has not been on the back end of a double steal however he has been on the FRONT END of two. 5/10 against the Red Sox with Santana taking 2nd (Shaw scored on a throwing error by the catcher on this play) and 6/15 against the Cardinals with Perez trailing him. Of his 7 steals – 5 are of 3rd base (!). I have no evidence to back this up but my assumption is that teams are letting their guard down with Shaw on 2nd and he is catching them napping/underestimating him. Good on him. Makes me like him better. Heads up baserunning. FYI, Villar has been on the front end of a double steal twice this year. Braun (1) and Thames (2) were given the ‘back end’ steal on those two respective plays. *post edit* Saw you responded to yourself already while I was doing my own research. Good work
  18. I am positive they would be really misleading. Would that include the April outlier which at this point we all know was ridiculously higher than what he truly is. That all while an inevitable cold streak happened afterwards also at the same time Braun got injured. Such a small sample size to make that kind of comparison. Thames hot and cold streaks likely had little to no effect due to Braun being near him in the lineup. I'm not disagreeing with you ... but if Braun is re-inserted this week and Thames immediately heats up, do we reconsider or is it just time for him to break out of his slump again?
  19. I would be interested to see Thames' numbers when Braun is hitting behind him vs. when he isn't. I'm almost positive it has been night and day.
  20. and suddenly, Keon Broxton's batting average is higher than Thames'.
  21. Davies ERA under 5. Atta boy! Keep it going... down, down, down.
  22. If Bandy stays on the roster as you suggest he would be lucky to get one at bat a week. He should never start with both Vogt and Pina and would be the last PH option on the bench. I would be shocked if he is still on the roster in 24 hours and furthermore with how much Stearns and Co. love having 40 man flexibility ... wouldn't surprise me to see him removed from the 40 man.
  23. You would have to think Matt Arnold had a lot to do with this decision. He drafted him in TB and probably has a pretty good idea if Vogt will be a good club house guy, positive influence on the pitchers, etc. Would assume that Sogard might have been briefed as well to get a first hand take. Shrug move for me with slight upside. I like an additional left handed bat off the bench if nothing else.
  24. Tough crowd. It was really two separate comments. Just wondering how Villar will come back and then seeing if anyone could throw me a bone and show me their at bats.
  25. I feel like, in a prior life, Matt Adams had a career .600 average against us or something..
