  1. Well, as someone who never really understood the Overbay addition, I'm all for that. But those are very logical little tweaks. Hard to argue with either. You could also use Green to give Ramirez a day off as he's not going to be able to play 155 games. In fact, 145 should be their aim at this point I would think. Taylor Green's shown enough that he can be part of a platoon(though he's hitting .265, not .365). Still, works for me. Who would you then advocate hitting 2nd vs lefties? Weeks hoping that maybe he can draw some walks and at least get on base at a decent clip for the time being? Or just move Segura back into the 2 slot vs lefties? I'd advocate for Gennett against those lefties. Let him play everyday. Last year's numbers and this years start have given him the right to an opportunity. Bianchi if you need to sit him occasionally. I pulled Taylor Green's #'s against righties this year in AAA, not his overall average. He is still above .300 against righties. Hunter Morris is an option as well, but I would still take Green for his versatility.
  2. I also like the swap. Scooter can put together some good at bats in the 2 spot and make the pitcher throw some pitches vs GoGo and Jean swinging at all things... and I hope this takes a little pressure off of Segura and he can loosen up. IMHO Scooter is the correct choice to bat 2nd right now. Well done. Lucroy's 14 innings yesterday made Martin's start today necessary.. but yes, we will need Lucroy to catch for a week. I hope Maldonado doesn't appeal. If he gets 5 games (likely I think), that would keep him out for the rest of San Diego and the Cubs series but we would get him back for St. Louis. I'd rather he miss two sub .500 series and be back and ready for the Cards.
  3. So there is a 4 man panel that picks those rankings and then immediately 2 of those 4 go on a podcast and say it is wrong? Funny. I also love how they both more or less agree that the "parity" of the AL makes Oakland a possibility and their choice for the #1 overall team, even though they mention that Oakland has yet to play a team over .500 Great analysis. Good work.
  4. Looks like Scooter up to the 2 spot for tonight's game, Segura batting 7th. I like it and I hope it can jump start Segura and we can get some good at bats out of the 2 hole now.
  5. I fixed it for you.
  6. Hunter Morris is up to .298 in AAA. Is cutting Overbay an option to bring up Diaz and then swapping Morris and Diaz when Maldy returns?
  7. Hopefully he puts some good at bats together and shuts me up .. but we need Taylor Green up on the team for these games so Reynolds doesn't have to face tough righties. Might want to edit "Marco Gallardo" on the picture too
  8. There are two moves that I think can be made to help a bit immediately. First is to get Segura, at least temporarily, out of the two spot. He is a free swinger and added to Gomez is quick get through at the top of the order. Scooter can at least take some pitches at this point. Let Segura gain some confidence at the bottom of the order and bring him back up when is swinging again. Secondly, Mark Reynolds needs a lefty to platoon with. (Small sample size alert!) .. Reynolds against lefties this year thus far is OPSing at 1.15 ... let him get the majority of the at bats but against tough righties get someone who is competent enough that he can sit. Right now you have to play him against everyone bc of Overbay. Temporarily Taylor Green is the answer. He is hitting .364 right now (small sample size alert!) against righties in the minors. That move should have been made yesterday. Long term maybe Morneau, short term get Taylor Green up here. A Green/Reynolds platoon is the best we can do right now to resemble a real first baseman. (By the way, Reynolds on pace for 36 HRs, not the worst thing).
  9. If his spot comes up in the order absolutely... At 93 they may send him back out though to get 1 more.
  10. That was actually a gross at bat for Khrush... glad he was hung an 0-2 pitch. Notch up in confidence and get one next at bat!
  11. I wasn't paying attention to the 0-2 pitch. The 1-2 pitch might have been close but it looked like Lucroy was handcuffed and didn't frame it at all, his glove actually ended up in the dirt.
  12. I hope that is true, makes me feel better. I was a little disappointed at first..
  13. By the way, these announcers on MLB networks are obviously pro Cardinals and it is hard to listen to. If my radio feed was synced to the TV I would have Uecker on without hesitation. After the Gomez double .. "I wish that bunt had stayed fair" .. This inning "Peralta was hitting his spots the first 3 innings but looks likes he has lost his command a little here, need to get to him now while you can"
  14. grounder to first, reynolds stepped on bag and threw to segura .. runner retreats back to first and seguras return throw hit him in the head. safe at first.
  15. Wouldn't have minded seeing Schafer or Gennett in the 2 spot tonight to break up the righties, maybe take some pressure off of Jean's shoulders too. From ESPN's stats department: Mark Reynolds has compiled a 1.231 slugging percentage in at-bats that end in fastballs this season, tops in the National League. Opposing pitcher Lance Lynn has thrown the second-highest percentage of fastballs among qualified pitchers since the start of last season (74 percent). Matt Garza has not allowed a hit in an at-bat that ends in an off-speed pitch, one of only two qualified pitchers in the league yet to allow a hit in those at-bats. St. Louis Cardinals hitters are hitting .145 in at-bats that end in an off-speed pitch this year, tied for fourth-worst in baseball.
  16. Sticking with the retros tonight. Let's get to double digits!
  17. Didn't Segura thrive in the bottom of the order last year? I really, really like Lucroy in the 5 spot. I'm not opposed to him hitting 2nd, but he is a great follow to Aramis. I wouldn't mind a flip of Segura and Scooter to bust up the righties at the top... however if that is happening then I think Scooter should be getting most of the starts then to avoid constant changes to the top of the order.
  18. Yes. I would love a full time switch back to the retros. Ball n Glove needs to come back.
  19. Wooten will probably get used today and Wang will be so confused.
  20. That is probably the best tell that the season is going about as well as possible. Other than Weeks/Overbay .. the only thing we have to be negative about is getting that lefty some work. Always a work in progress! Just trying to get the most out of the club.
  21. I wonder if Ron knows that Wang is in the bullpen. At some point can he just get one batter? Just get the nerves out of the way? We have no idea if the kid is an asset to us at this point .. no idea. What if the spring training was for real? What if the kid can save Kintzler or or Thornburg an inning here and an inning there? Why don't we find out?
  22. Brewers current lineup GoGo .400 Segura .310 Braun .281 Rammy .385 Luc .371 Khrush .343 Reynolds .250 Scoot .286 Brewers pitching staff coming into today 1.95 ERA. What did we all do to deserve this? Is this pay back for the 90s? For Wendy? I'm not complaining..
