  1. I think I'd be a lot more "elated" than "concerned" if we keep winning EVERTYHING and everything close. If we start losing everything and everything close, then I'll be concerned. Close games mean out good pitchers pitch. I guess we'll use Thornburg, Henderson and K-Rod a lot more if we are ahead. So that is where you are coming from. Still, The benefits of winning exponentially outweigh any workload issue. Oh absolutely. I'm just saying if the Brewers keep winning everything this same way (which is an amazing thing) ... I will then be concerned about innings and usage etc. I very much prefer to win a bunch of games and be concerned about overworking guys than losing our fair share and having no usage issues.
  2. The biggest factor, I think, as others have pointed out is the fact that the Brewers have won a LOT of close games and so their best relievers have been used. A simple blowout win or loss every now and then (which is normal) will help when Figaro and Wang can pitch the final 3 innings and save everyone else. I'll only be concerned if the types of games the Brewers win continue to only be close and we continue at this winning percentage pace. The bullpen will be fine if the types of games we play return to the norm rather than us winning EVERYTHING and everything close.
  3. I'd prefer Reynolds 8th and Segura 7th. Reynolds is willing to take a walk if they decide to pitch around the 8th spot to get to #9 and turning over the lineup is an important thing. I'm not Segura is. If the two (Reynolds and Segura) are currently a toss up .. I'd prefer the patience in the 8 spot.
  4. I think he should serve immediately. We have 2 against the Padres and 3 against Cubs before St. Louis. Let's get him back for St. Louis.
  5. if green isn't on the 40-man roster by 15 june, he can declare free agency. At 15-5, I think they can wait on Green. Let him get some AB's at AAA. I've been critical of the Overbay signing, but doing what's he's doing, filling in here and there, mostly PH and defensively, he's not hurting them. He hasn't gotten a lot of hits but his AB's have been decent. He can still get the bat through the zone. That's all you can ask. Reynolds has been Reynolds. As long as he's hitting with power, he's the starter anyway. I don't disagree .. but the reason Overbay has only been 'filling in here and there' is because they can't start him against anyone anymore and Reynolds is forced to hit against everyone .. which isn't ideal. If Overybay was a capable offensive player he would be splitting at bats with Reynolds.. but that isn't the case. Reynolds is a great platoon player and bench bat when he doesn't start but he HAS to be our everyday right now because we have no other options on the major league roster. It hasn't cost us yet, but if we are trying to field the best 25 man roster we can against all match ups and scenarios... Green is a better option in my very humble opinion.
  6. My personal opinion is that yes, I don't agree with every decision he makes on a situation to situation basis ... however, I am convinced that his players like him and they play hard for him, and that alone has probably won us more games that we can account for. He seems to have his entire team on a green light whether it is base running, bunting, etc and that allows a free spirit like Gomez and the more strategist types like Braun and Lucroy to be creative and involved on the basepaths and in the box.. maybe even more so than if they only took orders from the bench. Yes, this freedom has and will cost us runs and potentially games at some point ... but I think the positive affect on camaraderie and confidence is a big reason why players have been able to overachieve.
  7. Kind of an Adam Dunn approach even with two strikes. He seems to be looking for his pitch at all times and protecting isn't a part of his offensive vocabulary.
  8. Come on Scooter! Wow, wasn't expecting a two strike bunt but well done kid.
  9. Give him a chance? He is only 30ish innings in... let him take his coat off and get comfortable.
  10. Watch Segura turn back into a .300 hitter with gap power not that he has moved...
  11. The first pitch was in the exact same spot and Braun didn't like it .. he turned and said something to the ump.
  12. Those first two pitches to Braun looked questionable. Tough break inning for us.
  13. Gomez taking walks and we have a #2 hitter that will let him steal. Good!
  14. I assumed Lucroy's 14 innings yesterday may have warranted a day off today anyway... but yes, it is now necessary with Martin about to be punished.
