  1. That lineup is brutal. I'm fully expecting 8 runs today because of it. Everyone around the league is looking at that lineup right now and saying "THEY have the best record in the NL?!?"
  2. It would be really, REALLY nice if we can take advantage of the next few days of Rickie swinging a good bat and then nurse that batting average over the next month with good match-ups to keep it above .300. If we can mask him as a good hitter over the next month+, is there a chance we can get rid of a portion of that contract to a contender and get a mild prospect in return? Or instead of getting a guy who likely will amount to nothing, the Brewers keep him because Gennett can't hit lefties and Bianchi can't hit at all. I know this is an opinion and a hypothetical... but Herrera is a switch hitter and offers a LOT of roster flexibility and with Rickie having little to no chance of being on our roster next year, I'd take Herrera + prospect and a 2 million dollar savings (estimate? which may allow us to go out and get a left handed bench bat at the deadline) over Weeks for the stretch run.

  4. It is nitpicking ... but watching the replay I didn't like seeing Reynolds standing on 2nd with his hands in the air watching Lucroy score. 'Cutch had to go home with the ball and if they threw Luc out Reynolds really needed to be standing on 3rd after the play considering there would have only been one out, could have been a big mistake.
  5. Great series win considering some of the patchwork lineups we are having to throw out there. It's incredible what Gomez means to this lineup...
  6. Welcome back to the 2 hole Segura. Let's start over... Let's get a series win!
  7. For a season where lots of things seem to be going our way... getting Herrera back up after he went on a AAA hot streak combined with Rickie's recent resurgence is 'knock on wood' timing given Gomez/Ramirez going down. Yes I am knocking on wood. Stealing a division series when we are 'sick' would be really, really good. Go Crew.
  8. Hardricourt saying Gomez dropped his appeal so he can start serving suspension immediately. He was going to miss a couple games anyway with his back. Probably the right thing to do. Just read this too. If he was going to miss multiple games.. perfect. I doubt his suspension would be removed completely so this is probably a good move. Hoping for no rain outs in Chicago.
  9. I haven't heard anything on a suspension, I'm assuming this has to due with his lower back tightness. If the Brewers think Gomez will be out multiple days, is it too late to drop the appeal and start a 3 game suspension tonight? I've read from multiple places that Braun was scheduled to come out last night, he wasn't re-injured at all.
  10. "The day has come" just about sums it up. I was nervously ok with the platoon at first but am nervously not ok with both guys playing everyday. How are Green and Morris doing down in AAA?
  11. Probably because he's the douche bag who sits under a tree at the park and plays his guitar. I make my living as a singer-songwriter. I also have a grown man's beard. This stereotype isn't true.
  12. Overbay in April .300/.404/.425 Reynolds in April .224/.302/.500 Reynolds has the power ... and 4 of his 6 home runs in April came off of righties. I certainly feel Reynolds should get the majority of the playing time.. but Overbay has shown a good eye at the plate and I'm not mad if he spells Reynolds against tough righties.
  13. Here is tonight's lineup: Gomez CF Gennett 2B Lucroy C Ramirez 3B Reynolds 1B Gindl RF Segura SS Schafer LF Gallardo P
  14. I wonder what the Pirate players think of Marte's walk off pose and bat flip tonight... I hope Cole talked to him.
  15. I hear ya. Easy on the heart tonight. A lot of close ones to start but this one felt in the bag early on ... it was good to relax through 9.
  16. Another great start from our starter ... this is really fun to watch. Duke giving Thornburg and Smith 2 full days off... perfect.
  17. The thing I like about BA is that he calls the moment for what it is. Darren Sutton blew a gasket for every RBI single no matter if it won a game or if we were down 10-0. A lead off home run has a certain amount of enthusiasm, a late inning - close game home run has a different emotion, etc. BA is good at that in my opinion.
  18. So this is what it was like to play the Brewers in the late 90s huh?
  19. This at bat is the exact reason why Scooter should bat 2nd, error withstanding. 7 pitches and contact. Gives GoGo a chance to run, makes Carlos Villa throw some pitches.. puts the bat on the ball. Nothing against Jean, but he would have swung at one of the first 2 pitches.
  20. ... are the worst! I have a fairly busy job, a secondary job that is a passion of mine/keeps me busy, friends I love seeing etc, etc. and yet it is amazing how every time the Brewers have an off day I feel completely lost and need to "find things to do". I never have a problem from November - March and am always looking for free time to relax but when Brewers season hits ... off days leave me lost. There has to be a name for this syndrome. Anyone else or am I crazy?
  21. I actually decided a few times NOT to bump this thread even though I found evidence was falling my way. This is a long read, but a different perspective. For the lazy, the author came to the conclusion that bunting against the shift IS the right decision but guys don't do it because they will then ruin their ability to surprise and do it in a crucial moment. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/why-doesn-t-big-papi-exploit-the-infield-shift-by-bunting-042214
  22. Yeah, that was a weird situation in New York. That was about as obvious as it gets ... I actually half considered if Pineda was simply cold and wanted to be ejected. Regarding the Crew. Putting streaks together is great ... but winning series is where it is all it takes! Let's get this one and take another series heading to Chicago.
  23. He's calling NBA playoff games for TBS. He should be back once TBS loses their playoff assignments I would assume. You should probably start preparing yourself for a complete loss of Brian Anderson in the near future, he is in high demand and I can't imagine he would stay with the Brewers once he starts getting full time national offers...
