    If Winker could pay 1B sure but I don’t want to see Hiura at 1B ever again nor at 2B. A broom with a glove on it would be better at 1B than Hiura.

    Sexton's name keeps on popping up in connection with the Bucks. The only problem is that the Jazz haven't really made him available. I think the Bucks would want to put a package that would include two of Connaughton, Allen or Carter but I am not sure that would be enough for the Jazz.

    I think Peralta would be someone the Rays would like more than Burnes as there are more years of control in Peralta's favor. If the Rays give up some of their premium prospects I think they will want someone with more than 1.5 years of control so I don't believe Burnes would be a target.

    He doesn't have Davis in the 1st round but he mentioned him as a possible pick for a few teams.

    Keith Law has a new mock out with the Brewers taking Schanuel with the 18th pick. I think this will be a pick where the Brewers try to get him under slot and maybe go after a tough sign at 33. https://theathletic.com/4646310/2023/06/29/mlb-mock-draft-paul-skenes-pirates/ Law also had Taylor if available and a maybe on Wilken, Morales, Nimmala or Eldridge at 18. Nimmala maybe gone before the Brewers pick.

    Yeah no. He only mentioned they would be hiring a president of baseball operations and that was it. No mention of candidates or what he would be looking for. I think Stearns is loving the time off and being with family. I doubt he comes back after just one year of being off. There is a reason Hart is not a GM or part of any MLB teams front office. He cheated the system and won’t be allowed back in. Luhnow is toxic and won’t be sought after. Arnold is a really good GM.

    It is not bizarre it is an actual fact. This team is not pulling or hitting as many fly balls. They are going to center and opposite more. There is a topic in this board with all of the stats in it if you don’t believe it.

    It was a good pitch to swing at right down the middle of the plate. That should be an extra base hit pitch there. It was a strike regardless so swinging at a strike in the strike zone should always happen. This team doesn’t have a lot of good hitters when down in the count so they really need to be swinging when there is a pitch thrown in a hitters advantage.

    On my phone at work but I thought there was a team hitting zone. If we see more contact in pitcher friendly areas then that would explain the weak EV on ground balls.

    If we have the team EV on ground balls I think at a low EV majority of those are going to be hits on pitches that benefit the pitcher. These are going to be borderline strikes/balls that are causing the batter to roll over on them. More hitter friendly pitches you should see a higher EV on average for those. With the information we have we can see when the Brewers are getting pitches that are in the batters favor and the batter swings they have some really good results. I think the Brewers need to be more aggressive at the plate and stop looking for a walk.

    I think the watching pitches that should be swung at for extra base hits are the problem. It is the working the count mentality. The Brewers don’t have the hitters to be working with getting behind in the count. They need to be more aggressive early in their PA’s to avoid being down 0-2. Tellez, Wiemer, and others need to be more aggressive early in the count. When they get a fastball that splits the middle of the plate they need to be swinging and not making the pitcher work or getting deep into a count. They are just not good enough to be hitting behind in the count. No matter what the count is they should be swinging at pitches that are in the zone and can be smashed for extra base hits.

    But I have been told this is a home run or bust approach team. These stat’s actually contradict this. If it were more HR or bust you would see a higher pull%. I think the Brewers coaches are emphasizing more center and opposite field hitting. The Anderson signing this offseason is a clear example of this. The shift from being pull heavy to more center and opposite field is fine as long as your LD% also stays high. The LD% is more concerning than where they are going with the hits. Center left and center right are where you have more room in the OF to get a hit with a line drive. Also the ground ball % is very concerning. Need more lift but that goes back to the home run or bust offense that a lot on here complain about. This approach also tends to have a higher K%. Which more would complain about. The Brewers have put in place the just put the ball in play line of thinking which is one of the dumbest things fans and coaches talk about.

    If the Brewers go Schanuel at 18 it is because they believe they can get him under slot. Which means they may have something like an extra $500k to spend later.

    Picking in the 2nd round of the NBA and even the later part of the 1st round is like picking in the 6th and 7th round in the NFL sometimes you find a nice bench piece and the majority of the time you find absolutely nothing.

    Rankings are not as important in MLB since you have to take into account a players sign ability. You also need to take into account teams drafting players earlier than they should to get someone under slot. Davis being ranked at #39 I believe is inaccurate and he should be in the 15-20 range. More of the recent mocks even at MLB.com have Davis gone before the Brewers pick at 18. Mayo has Davis being picked 15th by the White Sox in his latest mock: https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-pipeline-2023-mock-draft-june-22 In that Mock Wilken is going to the Brewers at 33. The MLB draft after picks 1-5 are basically a roulette wheel of who is going to be picked.

    Not sure how that is Perkins fault there. His momentum took him off the base just bad luck there as the base was stolen if that doesn’t happen.

    People still believe the Cardinals are a threat to win the division? The Cardinals have shown nothing that they are a threat to win the division let alone becoming a .500 win team.

    I am not sure either Gonzalez or Shaw will be available at 18. Wilken definitely should but I think Taylor would also be available at that spot and I like Taylor over Wilken. I think the Brewers go Schanuel (1B) at 18 and then go a tough sign at 33. I don't think any of the players you have at 33 will be available especially Davis. Davis has been mocked recently in the 10-15 range.

    You still need power and Frelick lacks it so he may get on base but once pitchers find out they can just get him to ground out or pop out his OBP will fall like a rock kind of like what happened to Steven Kwan. That is actually what I think Frelick will be basically a .270/.340/.360 hitter which translates to about a 98 OPS+. He would need to be a bottom of the order hitter so your typical 7-9 hitter. I am not sure how Frelick's profile makes the Brewers offense all that much different than the HR or bust.

    The Rockies tend to be no shows at the trading deadline almost every year. The odds of the Rockies trading anyone at the deadline are probably extremely low. 2022 traded no one at the deadline 2021 traded cash considerations to the Reds for Ashton Goudeau; traded Mychal Givens to the Reds for Case Williams and Noah Davis 2020 traded Jacob Wallace and international draft bonus pool to the Red Sox for Kevin Pillar; traded Tyler Nevin, Terrin Vavra and Michael Deson to the Orioles for Mychal Givens 2019 Traded international Bonus pool to the Cubs for Jimmy Herron; traded Alfredo Garcia to the Yankees for Joe Harvey 2018 Traded Jerry Vasto to the Royals for Drew Butera The Rockies will buy but they don't sell all that often or ever at the deadline.

    I believe Brunson and Barrett are redundant as they fill the same need at guard. But I agree I don't see the Knicks doing this trade. The Bucks would have to do a sing and trade with either Lopez or Middleton. I don't believe the Pacers would have any interest in Lopez and to a lesser extent Middleton.     Kevin Sim sounds more like a Brewers target but probably somewhere in the 4-5th round. An interesting 3rd round pick could be Brock Vradenburg (1B) out of Michigan State. It is extremely hard to tell how good a player will be out of the Big 10 for baseball. The competition is not all that great as he put up a .400/.492/.721 this year.
