  1. They blew nothing by not drafting Wagner last year. He is a K machine and is currently sitting at .226 / .376 / .431 in A+ with 44 K's. I don't think he will be a MLB regular at best he is going to be a bench bat if he even makes it to MLB.
  2. I doubt Hopkins would be interested in coming to the Packers. Probably would want to go somewhere with a higher Super Bowl chance. I think he goes to the Chiefs, Bengals, Eagles or Jets.
  3. Taylor is a SS as much as Braun was a SS. Unless your name is clancy then Taylor is not a SS.
  4. Miller is coming off an injury to his hamate. He really hasn't looked like the hitter he was last year since the injury. If you want a corner IF Schanuel is probably the guy you want. Brayden Taylor is another corner IF who has slipped he was considered a top 10 pick early on but with his early play he played out of a top 10 pick but he has come roaring back. I think K's maybe a problem for Taylor once he starts playing in the upper minors and MLB but his bat is legit. He has 25+ HR potential and he is solid at 3B he could also play 2B though he is not really quick enough to play there. Schanuel you may be able to get under slot which should allow the Brewers to go more aggressive with their other picks. I like Taylor and Schanuel over Miller. The Brewers could also go with Yohandy Morales who looks like he has slipped out of the 1st round and should be there for the Brewers competitive balance pick at 33.
  5. What is even crazier is Trea Turner's slash line: .250 / .295 / .392
  6. Yes and most of the time it is something that isn’t all that visible to the public. This is very visible there is no hiding this. I am extremely confident the state would just pass a new tax for this instead of letting it default.
  7. Not made up look it up if you don’t believe me most states have laws where the landlord must fix something that is damaged. In Arizona it is A.R.S. §33-1363
  8. Yes there is this is called the arbitration process which is a standard practice in lease agreements. The Brewers would win the arbitration case and the district would either have to pay for the repairs or they would have to default on it. I doubt the state will allow an arm of the government to default when they can just raise taxes to fix the issue. All of this would cost more than doing the repairs. So doing the repairs is basically what the district will do. There will be a new tax added on from the state. If the stairs collapse then the house becomes condemned as being unlivable. It would have to be repaired or the house gets demolished. It is basically forcing the landlord to build the new stairs. The Brewers situation is more like the plumbing is not working which the landlord has an obligation to fix. In some cities there are required repairs that have to be made basically the landlord has to make the repairs there is no other option. In Phoenix if the AC goes out the landlord has to fix the AC and also pay for a hotel or forfeit the rent for that month. The AC has to be fixed there is no other option in this scenario.
  9. I am using the state as not the state of Wisconsin but as the government as a whole. I believe the district is basically an arm of the government so therefore falls into the states jurisdiction. The Brewers could easily sue the district and the state as I believe the state is the guarantor of the district. The state being either the county of Milwaukee or the state of Wisconsin probably the county of Milwaukee unless the district is seen as a state owned entity. The Brewers can force the payment as the district is legally liable to pay for its portion of the repairs. If the district can not pay its portion then the state would have to step in to pay what the district is not able to pay. The best outcome in my opinion is for the district to sell the stadium and the area to the Brewers. This would force the Brewers to pay for the repairs. Basically sell the stadium and the property to the Brewers minus the agreed upon repairs that are needed. I don't see the Brewers leaving and something will get worked out but that is more than likely going to come at the expense of the tax payers.
  10. Except the State can't tell the Brewers to go pound sand. The State has a legal obligation in a binding contract to make these repairs. The State has to make the repairs according to the contract that they have made with the Brewers. The Brewers could sue the State and they would win and the State would have to pay for its portion of the repairs. Either they pay for the repairs or they get sued to pay for the repairs either way the State is paying for its portion of the repairs.
  11. If the Brewers fall out of contention then I think Adames is the one who gets moved. I still think it is the Dodgers and I think they could still get someone like Stone and another prospect or two for Adames. The only other possible SS who could be available would be Tim Anderson. Anderson is playing worse than Adames is and Adames isn't really playing all that bad and he has had more bad luck. Adames xwOBA is at .319 so I think Adames should have better stats than he currently has. If Adames starts to play more towards his xwOBA I think he gets back into the 100+ wRC+ range. Which puts him back to where he was last year and if you add that to his defense you have a 4 WAR player. That puts Adames at about a surplus value somewhere around $35-40m. The Dodgers have already shown interest in Adames earlier this year so I wouldn't be surprised if they check in around the deadline if the Brewers are out of it. If Adames is hitting like his stats say he should be then a Stone+ package for Adames is extremely likely. I think the Dodgers would prefer to keep Busch over Stone. Something like Stone, Frasso and Vivas makes some sense here.
  12. I still think the Brewers go pitcher in the first round. Keith Law has Hurston Waldrep mocked to the Brewers at 18. He hasn't pitched all that great so far this year in Florida but the stuff is top of the rotation stuff. If he falls to the Brewers I think that will be the pick. Matt Shaw is another name being thrown around with the 18th pick. I am not sure on Shaw he looks to be a 2B/LF. Shaw is an average everything basically. He should top out around the 25 HR mark and hit about .275. His skills are about average as they come. A name to watch is Nolan Schanuel. He has power and he doesn't K all that much but he plays in Conference USA so some of his numbers need to be taken with the proverbial grain of salt. He is also a 1B only and probably more of a DH. This is Schanuel's stat line so far at Florida Atlantic: .460/.623/.888 I don't see the Brewers going the HS route as Turang (2018) was the last time the Brewers took a HS player. But if the Brewers do go with a HS player it maybe someone like Colt Emersson (SS), Kevin McGonigle (SS) or Blake Mitchell (C). McGonigle sounds similar to Turang when he was drafted. Keith Law suggested Dillon Head (OF) for the Rays but I think that is another name to watch for the Brewers. He is another type of player that the Brewers have been drafting recently. I am hoping Waldrep drops in the draft as that would be the perfect draft for the Brewers. Waldrep preseason was in the top 10 and some discussion of him being drafted in the top 5 picks.
  13. Since the city owns the property and the Brewers are just leasing the city has to pay for the repairs or at least the majority of them. Cities shouldn’t be owning stadiums. That should be on the teams. It also makes it harder for a team to leave if they own the stadium.
  14. The NHL will try until there are no options left in Phoenix to keep the team here. For whatever reason the NHL will not let go of Phoenix even if it means the team plays in a college arena. I don't see the NHL moving the Coyotes to Milwaukee unless Milwaukee moves to the southwest. That is the only way the city of Milwaukee would be getting the Coyotes.
  15. No the NHL wants to keep the team in AZ. If they move it would be to Salt Lake City or Austin.
  16. As a former manager of mine would say “Yes”?
  17. I think that gets you really close but I don't think the Brewers would want to include Misi/Rodriguez in that deal. I think they would feel more comfortable with Gasser over Misi/Rodriguez and I think the White Sox would prefer Gasser also as he is closer to MLB. I think it would be something like Frelick, Gasser, Black and then someone like Mendez, Lara or Moore. That would be about 50m in surplus value which is about what Robert is worth. I am not sure the White Sox do this deal but I think it is very close to what they would want in return for Robert. It would then allow the Brewers to put Robert in LF or CF and then place Yelich at DH if Winker doesn't improve. Also I think the White Sox would dump Moncada if they could but he has been injured more than he has been on the field for them. I don't think Moncada has much if any value at all. Another option would be Nick Senzel from the Reds. Currently Senzel is hitting .522/.560/.870 for a 280 wRC+ against LHP but against RHP he is only hitting .169/.246/.237 for a 29 wRC+. He would be a strict platoon bat. Something like Hiura and Rodriguez (OF) for Senzel would be about right value wise. I am not sure the Reds would be willing to let Senzel go but getting Hiura back in the trade would soften the blow a little bit for them. Rodriguez (OF) is also probably a better prospect than what Senzel is really worth. I added some value due to it being an in division trade.
  18. I was also thinking of a Frelick plus for Robert. I am not sure if the White Sox would be interested but I would do it.
  19. The Blackhawks have been stuck in salary cap jail for awhile now. It is not like they could have tried to sign a free agent this past off season to try and win. They tried that the year before and it blew up in their face. This was just a bad aging team that they now have all of their bad contracts for the most part over with.
  20. Since the forum was acting weird. I was able to catch Tyler Childers in concert and that was a really good concert. Also check out Charley Crockett.
  21. Sweet Bedard to the Blackhawks!!!!
  22. The Cardinals would have to go 68-59 to reach Fangraph's win total which is within reason. For the Brewers to reach 86 wins that is a 67-60 record the rest of the way which is also within reason. The Cardinals may not have a losing season but I don't see them winning more than 86 games this year. They would need to go on an epic run in June and July to do so which means only losing about 5-games in those two months and also turn it around in May and only lose about 5 of their remaining 22 games. The only easy games for the Cardinals left this month are the Reds(4) and Royals (2). The way that MLB has the schedule setup now it is not as easy as it was like last year where you could beat up on the Reds and Pirates for 6 games a month.
  23. I don't think it is the launch angle that is the issue for Yelich. In the upper zone you will want to have a more flatter swing otherwise you look like Hiura and you just whiff at those pitches as you can't get the bat to the ball with a huge uppercut swing. The -11 on the inside of the plate is a problem though for Yelich that means he is basically jamming himself on pitches middle in. Throughout Yelich's career the bottom of the strike zone is basically where he has no launch angle at all. 2018 2019 2023
  24. If the Brewers continue to slide I think a trade with the Dodgers is probably likely and no it won't be Burnes going to the Dodgers it will be Adames. Dodgers get: Adames Brewers get: Stone, Jorbit Vivas and Nastrini. This would then allow the Brewers to trade Burnes and get back a positional player rather than trying to get that pitching prospect in return for Burnes. Something like Holliday plus from the Orioles.
  25. I think a more realistic trade is still with the Orioles. I am not sold on the Dodgers making a trade for Burnes and if the Dodgers are in it I think they prioritize Ohtani over Burnes and I think the player the Dodgers would prefer from the Brewers would be Adames. If you are including Adames and Burnes in a trade then expect to get less than what you would get if only one of the players were involved. You won't get full value for Burnes or Adames if you include them together. I think an Orioles trade starts with Holliday and then it starts to get a little muddy after that. Probably someone like Mayo and Povich to finish off the trade.
