  1. You are missing the point. The Mets don't care if they lose Alonso to FA the Brewers would. The Mets can just go out and buy someone else like Goldschmidt in FA if they lose Alonso. They don't really need to replenish the farm system or recycle talent when they can just go and sign whoever they want. If a team wants Alonso they will have to overpay for him. It is the Mets price or nothing. This isn't the Pirates, Royals or A's here this is the Mets with an owner who doesn't care about the teams spending. If Alonso would cost $30m next year it would also be irrelevant. The only way the Mets are trading Alonso is if they are getting back premium prospects. For the Brewers they would trade Adames if they are out of it but will be looking to replenish their farm system and wouldn't be as hard on their asking price. I still believe the Brewers get a top 50-100 prospect back for Adames.
  2. Yes and No. The Mets are not going to trade Alonso as they still see themselves as a playoff team. Why would they trade someone off their roster when they expect to be competing next year and that player would be someone that they would want to be on their team next year? Any team wanting to trade for Alonso will have to overpay to get him and not just a small overpay but a franchise altering overpay. Alonso's salary and stats this year are irrelevant in this discussion. The Mets are going to demand an elite return for Alonso and they won't care about his production or his salary number next year. It will be pay the price the Mets are asking for or don't it won't matter to them.
  3. How is that foolish? The Mets are not going to dump Alonso for anything less. The Mets are going to demand elite talent in return for Alonso and that means Chourio from the Brewers. For this reason I don't see the Mets trading Alonso. It is very similar to the Reynolds ask from the Pirates. The more likely scenario would be the Mets extending Alonso than them trading him as they don't really have the financial restraints the Brewers had with Hader. The Mets can just wait it out and they will unless their price is met.
  4. The only bad thing about Waldrep is that he could just be a reliever though a very good late inning reliever especially with that violent delivery. I think the Brewers would try and clean it up a bit and maybe that helps him become more consistent with his pitches. As a floor he is probably easily a dominant late inning reliever. I still prefer Taylor, Schanuel, Davis or Morales at 18 but it is hard to complain too much about Waldrep at 18. I am not a big Miller fan so as long as the Brewers don't take him, Bradfield or Shaw I would be fine with the pick. I really think the Brewers go with a college bat again and I think it is between Taylor, Schanuel or Davis at 18. Davis could be the best player drafted outside of the top 5.
  5. New MLB mock has the Brewers taking Waldrep at 18. https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-pipeline-2023-mock-draft-july-6?
  6. I don't think the Mets would accept anything less and really they don't need to trade Alonso so it is pay up or don't.
  7. The Mets and Cardinals don't have to trade either player so it is what they value the players at which is going to be higher than what they are actually worth. It is meet our price or don't get them.
  8. Then you are not getting Alonso or Goldschmidt. Maybe something like Black, Frelick and a few lower end prospects for Alonso could be possible but I think the Mets would want Chourio included in the trade for Alonso.
  9. Chourio and Frelick. I don't see the Cardinals trading Goldschmidt for anything less than at least two top 100 players. Is Goldschmidt worth that? Heck no he is not but the Cardinals are not going to sell for anything less.
  10. The Cardinals are not a good team overall. Bad pitching and bad defense with a good offense. Where have we seen this before? It is like the Cardinals copied the Brewers team construction during the early Melvin years.
  11. That looked like the catcher didn’t give the runner a lane to home plate.
  12. That slide by Yelich looked like it hurt.
  13. The Bucks are done unless they get a trade they like but I don't believe they will sign anyone of significance in FA. Even before Middleton and Lopez resigned there wasn't going to be much room for a FA signing. This is basically the last run with Giannis.
  14. Since they come from the SBA I don't really have a big problem with them though we shouldn't really be giving away money. This also shouldn't be forgiven either. I am fine with taxes where if you borrow from the government either student, business or other types of loans that you would have to pay it back as a tax. I would be fine with that and I think it would actually make the economy stronger if we moved to something like that and just removed all personal income taxes.
  15. Because the amount wouldn’t have been worth it for me. It was less than $9k. If it was higher sure but at how much I had left it was better to just pay each month. For the vast majority of people who are bad with financial planning it would have been better for them to continue paying on their student loans when it was at 0%. With all of their payments going to principal it would have reduced their debt amount. On another point if someone wants their student loan debt forgiven I would be all for it if they are willing to pay an extra 5% tax on their income until the loan amount is paid off. This goes against my Libertarian ideals on taxes but I think this would be a simple solution to this issue. The loans still get paid back but are instead paid based on the job you get from your degree.
  16. What? All of your payments would have gone to the principal at 0%. You are saving money while paying down the debt. The only way it would make sense is if you were investing all of those payments at a higher rate than your interest rate. Which I doubt more than 1% of the people were doing this. If they made even just half of their regular payments they would have reduced their debt significantly. I continued to pay mine and I just paid all of mine off. All because of the 0%. I cut my final payment date by about 2-years.
  17. @Brock Beauchamp This is like 3 posts in a row where the incorrect Brayden Taylor is being linked to on baseball reference. This is the correct link: https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=taylor010bra
  18. Everyone but Terry Rozier I would be fine with. The Bucks have been interested in Sexton but Utah hasn't really made him available yet. I don't think Portis and Pat/Grayson would really excite the Jazz all that much. Would need to throw in a pick and I am not sure the Bucks are willing to do that or if the Jazz would even like the Bucks pick.
  19. Not my idea just some info I was passed along. They did call out the Holiday trade before it happened so maybe there is some truth to this but they told me this before Lopez signed. I don't think this will happen now that Lopez is back on the team and it doesn't look like the Bucks are going to be able to add anyone else other than some veteran and league minimum contracts. They did say the Bucks had no chance in resigning Carter due to the amount of money he was being offered and there was very little interest in bringing Ingles back as he was mostly a Bud player. There is very serious interest in bringing in Wood but that was plan B if Lopez didn't resign. The Bucks have also tried to get Bogdanovic to please Giannis but have been turned down by the Hawks. There is a fear that this is the last run with Giannis as he is up for a contract renegotiation for an extension this fall. The fear is that Giannis will not extend his contract with the Bucks and will not open up negotiations this fall putting the Bucks in a delicate situation in the next two off seasons.
  20. It would be a backup plan for the 76ers missing out on Lillard. Would be Jrue, Connaughton and a pick swap for Harden.
  21. Hearing possible Harden to the Bucks scenarios. This would put the Bucks well over the 2nd apron. Not sure the sources are credible though.
  22. Lillard has requested a trade and his preferred destination is not Milwaukee. Miami is the likely landing spot for Lillard.
  23. Lopez back with the Bucks on a 2-year $48m deal. https://www.fox6now.com/sports/bucks-resign-brook-lopez.amp
  24. You obviously don’t understand basic math let alone odds.
