  1. Me fail English? That's unpossible! For my previous position I never looked at grammar or anything really. No need when it is writing SQL queries. Current position definitely need grammar which I have to read and re-read everything my boss writes. So many spelling and grammar errors.
  2. Maybe it is still true for entry level or just beyond entry level jobs but everything after that I haven't seen a need to list references. It seems to be mostly ignored the further you go up the experience level.
  3. Not sure what you need references for. I haven't found a job that actually looks up the references. I put Homer Simpson, Peter Griffin and Bender "Bending" Rodriguez on my last application. I asked the person interviewing me and the HR rep if they looked at my references section and they did not. I turned down their offer as they wouldn't budge on the working from home option would have been 100% in the office. The reference section on a resume or even being asked during an application is probably something that is just left over from a bygone era. I can't remember the last time I was contacted as a reference or someone that I have put down in the reference section has been contacted. Just an absolute waste of time and the temp job companies that ask you to put references down usually just uses them to get leads for jobs.
  4. I watched Reacher over the weekend on Amazon. Wasn't the greatest show but was a little bit entertaining kind of gave off a bad 80's or 90's action hero vibe. Kind of follows the script that is written for the Rock when he is in an action movie.
  5. I thought the Badgers won in 2006?
  6. Depends on the job. For IT jobs it is a must as you need to list out certificates and other things. It is also easier to list out what systems you have experience with like JAVA, JAVASCRIPT, C+, C, C#, Python, etc. Even IT Business Analyst positions you need to do this as there are a bunch of things you need to list out and it is far easier to do it in bullet points. For example I have listed on my resume Teradata, NOSQL, SQL, Oracle, Postgresql, Alteryx, Tableau, Python, SAS, R, COGNOS, VBA and a few others. My friend who is more into the trading side of finance lists out the trading platforms that he uses.
  7. I only use ZipRecruiter, Indeed and LinkedIn. Mostly it is Indeed and ZipRecruiter as they are far easier to search for things on those two sites. LinkedIn can be a pain to look for jobs and apparently Microsoft decided to turn it into another social media site instead of what it was. It is still good but I use Indeed and ZipRecruiter more. LinkedIn is still good for networking but I barely use it for finding a job. ZipRecruiter is nice because it has either an estimate of what the job will pay or the range from the company they are willing to pay. I prefer applying on Indeed as it is simple and fairly easy to apply to jobs there. ZipRecruiter can sometimes show you jobs that are available but will sometimes send you to Indeed, LinkedIn or some other random site to apply to the job which is very annoying.
  8. Not to go into the politics too much but you are half right with the President in the movie and completely wrong with the big tech donor. The President in the movie is actually a mixture of Trump and Hillary if you didn't notice there is a picture of Bill Clinton in one of the scenes with the President giving it a kiss I believe? The President's son is a caricature of Trump's children. The donor is actually a Bill Gates inspired donor. The movie was ok but I think they missed out on a lot of other caricatures they could have done and the satire they tried to do just didn't come off all that well. Majority of the satire in the movie just wasn't good at all and was borderline cringe to extreme cringe.
  9. In Arizona there are housing developments that are geared towards retirees. I wish I could qualify for these homes as they are in a rather affordable price. These are mostly manufactured homes but they actually look really good from the outside and inside. I worked with someone who retired and sold their home and moved into one of these communities. She sold her home for $300k and then bought a manufactured home for about $75k. It was a nice house for the price and about the same size as a condo or townhouse.
  10. I am not surprised seeing Phoenix and Tucson on the list. The housing market both for rent and buying has exploded due to people moving here from California and Canada well mostly California.
  11. Just doing a simple annuity for a 30-year mortgage where you paid $500 extra a month would come out to about $400,000 assuming you got a 5% rate. It all depends on how comfortable you are with having debt versus having it paid off. Personally I invest everything instead of paying down the mortgage. Even at just $200 a month it would come out to about $160,000. All figures are assuming a $0 initial starting point. At $200 a month that would be equal to a house at $200,000 assuming an interest rate of 4.5% where your total interest payments are about the same as investing at $200 a month in an annuity at 5%. That is where your break even point would be with a $200k home. At $600k you would want to do $600 a month at a minimum which would get you to your total interest payments. If you were paying something like $800 a month to your principal it probably would be a better idea to split it in half. Take $400 towards your principal and $400 towards an annuity. Lets say that $400 subtracts 5-years from your 30-year loan under that same time span your other $400 a month would have grown to about $230k. Which would probably be about what you would have paid on interest over the 30-year loan period for a $400k home. Again depends on what you value more not being in debt or having more savings. I can see the appeal of both but I would prefer having more in savings.
  12. You will have to find out who the transfer agent is for the company more than likely this will be computershare but there are others. This information is normally on the investor relations page of the companies website or you may have to call the companies investor relations.

    Pizza

Home made bread is better in a pizza oven than in an oven. Not sure you could get the right temperature in a grill for bread.

I have made some bread in the one I have and some pasties.
  15. Assuming the Brewers stay at 27 which I believe they will there are some interesting players at that range. Here are my way too early players I am watching. If the draft happened today I would be hoping for Cam Collier (3B) would fall to the Brewers. Cam has a really nice left handed swing and should be an average to above average base runner. He won't swipe many bags but he has enough speed to not be a liability. He has a decent arm at 90 MPH from the mound which should be more than adequate to play at 3B. Defensively I think he could move to the OF if he is not able to handle 3B or move to 1B. He uses the whole field and isn't a pull happy hitter either. He is only 17 and doesn't turn 18 until November of 2022 so his power should grow. He has a very advanced bat to ball skill. I am going to assume he will be taken before the Brewers pick but right now he is ranked in the 20-25 range which is close enough to where the Brewers pick. I think his stock will sky rocket this summer and he maybe a top 10 pick. A HS pitcher that I like in this area is Andrew Dutkanych. This will be a hard sell for him as I think he may just go to Vanderbilt if he isn't drafted in the top 10. If he goes to Vanderbilt he is probably a top 5 pick. He has a plus-above average fastball depending on who you ask and a plus slider. I am not sold on the curveball he throws but some scouts have labeled it as a plus potential. He hasn't thrown many change-ups but that is another pitch that some scouts believe could be an above average pitch. He still has some more room to grow into his frame also. He has an effortless delivery. Kumar Rocker could also go around this point depending on his health or he could already be gone. Ian Ritchie is someone who could fly up the draft boards but I think he will be available when the Brewers pick. I believe Ritchie is the best HS pitcher in this class and someone who will stay as a SP. He is probably the safest bet as a HS pitcher to make it to the majors and be a starting pitcher. His fastball is similar to Woodruff's where he can get up to 97 but mostly lives in the 92-95 range. He is also extremely accurate with his fastball and can put it where he wants. His slider is also a good pitch with plus potential along with his curveball which looks to have above average potential. Mechanics wise he is perfect. If Ritchie is available when the Brewers are picking I would be highly disappointed if they don't take him at 27. I think Ritchie could be a #1 or #2 type pitcher with potential ace level pitcher if everything goes right for him.

    Pizza

Trying this out on Saturday. Better be good I went full out and made my own sauce and my own sausage in addition to using the dough recipe above. It turned out pretty good but I wasn't super happy with my crust. It was fine. I think the recipe is legit - I am just not a very experienced baker. I don't think I let it proof long enough. Also I wish my oven went to 550 but oh well. It's a very easy recipe so I will definitely be trying it again soon. For my pizzas I bought one of these and I love it! I use either charcoal or wood mostly wood. You can also get an older version that just does propane or wood pellets for cheaper. I haven't used one of the older models though. https://ooni.com/products/ooni-karu-16
  18. MLB is already working on a streaming service for in market games. Which should be ready by 2023 and I wouldn't be surprised if somehow the other streaming services are also included in this. Basically would just be a channel you can add and pay for. Bally Sports is also supposed to have a streaming option you can pay for at some point in 2022 or 2023. 2022 will more than likely be all buggy and probably won't work all that well. I don't watch many games on TV so not having that as an option is fine by me. I prefer listening to baseball on the radio as it is the best sport to listen to on the radio.
  19. LOL 25 hours and $5 extra for 150 hours? I get unlimited for free with YouTube TV. But you keep on doing you and paying for that horrible customer service. We will see you in 2-years from now when you are again complaining about how they won't bring the price down for you.
  20. The Witcher Season 2 is out today! If you are into books and you like the genre it is definitely a good read. Also the final season of the Expanse has started another good book read also.

    Pizza

Why is it that majority of pizzas in WI and other states are these horrible thin crust pizzas. I absolutely hate them. I will take a Chicago deep dish pizza over that horrible thin crust junk. That isn't even pizza it is just crackers with pizza toppings!
  22. You probably checked to many boxes on what they wanted or not enough take your pick. If it was a corporate job they are probably looking for someone who is overly experienced or not experienced at all even though they probably had something like 3-5 years of experience required. Corporations are still treating everyone like it is 2008 when there wasn't a shortage in labor and they could get people who were overqualified but yet pay them the same rate as someone who has no experience. The tables have flipped now but the large corporate jobs are struggling to change their ways as they are just stuck in 2008 still. I can't decide what is worse in corporate America is it IT or is it HR. They are both bad but I think corporate HR is over taking corporate IT here in uselessness.
  23. The biggest issue and it varies from county to county and state to state is the exclusivity rights that have been granted to cable companies. For example only company A can lay down new or maintain existing fiber lines in region A while company B can lay down new or maintain existing fiber lines in region B. This is the dumbest thing that has happened and is hindering consumers. A board to rule over price increases will not help all that much as the state or county already know the costs and would just approve the increase anyways. The government also needs to stop giving exclusivity rights away to companies that maintain and create the new fiber lines. One thing that would help in price would be to remove these exclusive rights from the companies and allow more companies to use the fiber lines and to sell that access. It would allow for more competition and when there is more competition the consumer wins normally. There are times when there is too much competition and the product degrades or becomes lesser and the consumer starts to lose as the product becomes less and less valuable. Even Google wasn't able to break the exclusivity rights away from the cable companies so I have very little faith in this happening and I think Amazon was looking to do the same and they also gave up on the idea of doing this. Though I think Elon is far more stubborn and won't quit on something like this.
  24. Comcast now allowing YouTube TV as an option for their Xfinity broadband customers. https://variety.com/2021/digital/news/comcast-youtube-tv-xfinity-flex-1235129412/ Probably going to see more of this as the cable companies turn from cable and internet to just broadband only.
  25. You don't need to care when your company is a legal monopoly. You either pay and deal with them or you don't there is no incentive for them to change when they don't have to. It is also why cable companies can change their prices to whatever they wish even if it doesn't make sense at all.
