  1. These always feel light compared to what MLB dishes out for PED suspensions. Severino was suspended for about 50% of the season while Hopkins is only suspended for about 35% of the season. Also Severino can't play in the playoffs but Hopkins will be able to play in the playoffs if the Cardinals make it. The NFL's policy seems far more relaxed than MLB's.
  2. There is an Athletic article that disagrees with this and puts the Bears draft at 24th and the Packers at 27th (worst in the NFC North). https://theathletic.com/3288166/2022/05/02/nfl-draft-rankings-classes-all-32/?source=user_shared_article
  3. Swinging harder doesn’t equate to a higher exit velocity. Exit velocity is determined more by where the ball hits the bat than how hard a batter swings. Yes swinging really fast will add some velocity but I am not convinced it adds all that much compared to where the ball connects with the bat. If the ball hits the end of the bat it won’t have much in terms of velocity no matter how hard the batter swings. With Gwynn he consistently hit the ball with the good part of the bat. Majority of Gwynn’s hits were on line drives. This means he would have had a high EV. Also if you have slow bat speed you are going to be late a lot especially on fastballs which Gwynn saw more of during his playing time than hitters do now. Also the article you linked to is talking more about launch angle than exit velocity. For Gwynn to hit more HR’s he would have had to change his swing to be more of an uppercut. That has nothing to do with exit velocity.
  4. No thanks. Kelenic is currently has a K% at 40.8%. I don't see that as a good trade for Mitchell in fact I think Mitchell could put up better numbers right now than Kelenic. Kelenic is actually playing worse than Wong is right now so I don't see how he would help the Brewers at all. That would just be a horrible trade for the Brewers and a waste of an asset trading Mitchell for Kelenic. Martinez is on the last year of his deal. If the Red Sox are out of the running for a playoff spot he shouldn't cost all that much but that would be a deadline deal. I doubt the Red Sox would be willing to deal someone on their roster now unless they are getting someone back that can help their roster now like an Ashby or Houser (not saying Martinez for Ashby/Houser).
  5. Majority of rookies don't really impact fantasy football all that much unless you have a really deep league. The Bears did address the DL with Dominique Robinson who according to some was a 3rd round pick value (picked in the 5th round). The Bears also needed to fix their secondary as they really don't have anyone to play CB in the slot and they needed another safety. Both of the picks the Bears took in the 2nd round should be starting on defense. I think they did good there value wise and the Bears had both of those players higher on their board than the players who were available to be picked. The 3rd round selection is a head scratcher there I will give you that. Though he does provide a lot of speed but route running is not the greatest from this player. I would have went with Tolbert at that pick but the Bears had Jones valued higher. Jones I am actually excited to see but he probably won't start in his first or second season. Thomas on the other hand should start in his rookie season. He is a completely scheme pick in the 6th round. He is a good run blocker but needs to work on his pass blocking but he fits in perfectly in the zone-blocking scheme the Bears use. The only pick I really question is the 3rd round pick and the Trestan Ebner pick in the 6th round. I am assuming they are trying to replace Cohen with that pick there. I think they could have gotten better value by picking another DL or WR with that pick.
  6. I am not sure if you have looked at the Brewers prospects but most of them are OF's and two are very close to contributing for the Brewers in Wiemer and Mitchell who are both in AA this year and should be in AAA at some point this year. Depending on the prospect AAA is usually just a holding place for players until the super 2 status can be avoided. Basically at some point next year Wiemer and Mitchell should be playing for the Brewers if everything goes right this year for them. Assuming no injuries or them taking a step back in their development Mitchell and Wiemer should be playing for the Brewers in 2023 at some point. I wouldn't be surprised to see both in the major league camp in spring training next year and possibly one making the team out of spring training. If the Brewers do trade Woodruff after this season it will be for prospects and not MLB players. The most recent example of a trade like this was the Sale trade. So something like this from the Tigers: Brewers get: Greene, Jobe, Dingler and Kreidler Tigers get: Woodruff Another possible prospect trade would be with the Rangers. Brewers get: Leiter, Jung, Smith, Acuna and Zavala Rangers get: Woodruff.
  7. That is his fantasy football rankings. The guys that the Bears drafted fit with their scheme for OL. I don't believe any of the players the Packers picked would have been a fit for the Bears in their scheme. Again this is where draft grades are not really all that relevant. Teams are going to pick players based on how they fit and not based on a grade or ranking from random people.
  8. Boston doesn’t really have the offensive players to play inside. They have to get their shots from the perimeter and mid range. That is how Boston is built offensively. They kind of play into how the Bucks want to play defensively. I don’t believe the Celtics have the shooters to play the perimeter game for a full series. If they can’t get into the lane and make shots they are done unless they get really hot from 3.
  9. Exit velocity has always been a thing it is just under a different name now. You may have heard of squaring up on a ball, getting good contact, getting good wood on the ball, etc. These all talk about hitting the ball hard which is what exit velocity is measuring. Baseball at least for hitters has always been about exit velocity. If you don’t have it you are weakly popping out or grounding out.
  10. He needs to work on his mechanics they are all over the place. He also overthrows his fastball causing it to be extremely erratic and he basically has no idea where it is going when he does this. Once Cousins figures out his mechanics he could be a devastating late inning reliever.
  11. I am not worried about his defense as he has been solid in the past. It may just be he is pressing because he hasn’t been hitting.
  12. I am wondering if Zamora is just a slow starter and it takes time for his bat to heat up.
  13. Draft grades are all nearly based on the player ranking and not based on team needs or fits on the team. The grades are rather useless really as they don’t really say all that much after the first 5 or 10 picks in the draft.
  14. I am not sure you could get full value back by trading Woodruff. Just to get full value for Woodruff a Yankees Brewers trade would look something like this: Yankees send Volpe, Dominguez and Judge to the Brewers for Woodruff. I don’t see the Yankees doing something like this. They would probably prefer a Judge for Woodruff swap but that leaves the Brewers short about $70m in surplus value. It would be extremely difficult to trade Woodruff, Burnes or Hader and get back equal or close to equal value back.
  15. Seems like that is a fake account or a troll account.
  16. I don't think it will be. Vernon Wells, A.J. Burnett, Carl Crawford, Johan Santana, Ryan Howard and Barry Zito were all far worse contracts.
  17. Taylor is not a good defensive CF. Add that in and his offense doesn’t really justify him playing more than Cain especially in CF. Taylor should be good playing more in RF over Renfroe. This is where Taylor’s defense won’t hamper him as much. Yelich should be the DH for the majority of games when there is a RHP and Renfroe in LF. Also Hiura should be playing a few games at 2B here and there for Wong. Though Hiura does need to cut down on the K’s.
  18. Can't believe I forgot about Josh Bell. I think we can add him to the list of possible trade targets.
  19. I think the Brewers need to give Hiura some more PA's though he is still striking out way too much. Hiura is currently sitting at a 40% k rate. I think that is the main reason he is probably not getting more PA's though he is one of the better hitters on the team right now.
  20. They should probably just extend it until the All Star break. It will probably be extended again in June anyways.
  21. I would rather bring up Singleton as I am not all that sold on Tellez.
  22. The Nets just absolutely fell apart. Talk about a disappointing team. They should have been able to win at least 2 or 3 against the Celtics but were only really competitive in one of the games and blew a 15 point lead.
  23. The 2006 Cardinals say hello.
  24. Cain had two hard hit balls that went for outs so there was that. I think pinch hitting for Hiura was the right call.
  25. Horrible taunting also I give them an F- on the taunts.
