  1. It will probably be more Cain and Taylor in the OF. If there is a IL stint then I think Dahl gets the call.
  2. Right if he continues with what he has been doing and stays healthy for the whole season or at least the majority of it, I will call this season a big success for him. Still though of all the prospects in the Brewers minor league system it seems as though he is getting the least amount of attention. He is quietly having a good season and hopefully he stays healthy and continues. If he can hit for more power and stay healthy I think the Brewers have something at catcher at least offensively. I haven't watched him this year to see his defense but I am thinking he still needs some work there.
  3. Gorman has been in the Cardinals system for a bit longer and has a higher pedigree (higher draft slot). Things like where a player is drafted will play into the top 100 rankings. Also the rankings are far more conservative on who they put in their top 100. If you asked the same evaluators about Wiemer versus Gorman you would probably get a consensus that they are very similar. The rankings will always have a bias towards players who are either drafted earlier or who were the big bonus players on the international side. These players will always be in the top 100 before someone like Wiemer and others will be in it. It took awhile for Burnes to get into the top 100. It also doesn't help that Wiemer lost a half a year of development due to COVID. It probably doesn't put him into the top 100 but it is also not helping him either. Also the players ranked after the top 50 are basically the same players it is whoever likes who the best at that point.
  4. I swear you never read any of the posts before commenting on them fully. You need to reread what I wrote about the Cubs comparison there is a but in the sentence which makes what you commented here completely confusing. Here let me highlight exactly what you missed: Like I said I believe the Red Sox go the Cubs route but try and get players that will help them next year and this year. I can't believe I have to explain this but the but try and get players that will help them next year and this year means they wouldn't be following the Cubs trades from last year. The comparison with the Cubs was with the selling off of soon to be free agents but instead of getting what the Cubs got the Red Sox would go after more immediate return players. Also the Brewers have enough in the budget to add Martinez they have done it in the past and Stearns has said previously in the past that if they need to spend more they will during the deadline. I don't see a veteran salary being a blocker for the Brewers during the deadline.
  5. Since the Red Sox are a CBT team the best they can get in terms of comp for losing Bogaerts is a comp b pick and that is if Bogaerts gets a contract that pays him 40m aav or $150m total. This will be Bogaerts first time as a FA so he will be eligible. Free Agent Compensation Former club status 35M TG/ 18M AAV 55M TG/23M AAV 100M TG/ 30M AAV 150M TG/ 40M AAV Revenue Payee 3rd round Comp B Comp A Comp A+ 3rd round Revenue Payor --- 3rd Round Comp B Comp A CBT Payor --- --- 3rd Round Comp B The Associated Press Compensation tiers are based on: the total guarantee (TG) OR the average annual value (AAV) of the player’s new contract, whichever is higher, and The Revenue paying and CBT status of the former club The player must be a first time free agent, and have been with the former team for at least one full season. There is no qualifying offer of salary or arbitration required for compensation. I don't see the Tigers or Mariners being sellers at least not traditionally. The Tigers spent this off season so I don't think they will sell all that much maybe a pending FA or two but I wouldn't expect them to trade anyone that will still have team control. The Royals will probably be big sellers but that helps the White Sox out more so than the Red Sox. The Red Sox have to go through the Yankees, Rays and the Blue Jays. All three are good teams the White Sox and the Twins are going to improve with their records while the Red Sox will have to compete against two good teams and one team on par with them. I just don't see the Red Sox if they are hovering around .500 making the playoffs that is a tough road. Like I said I believe the Red Sox go the Cubs route but try and get players that will help them next year and this year. So something like trading Martinez for someone who is blocked in AAA that can help the Red Sox now and in the future. If it works out great if not there is always next year for them. I don't think they will trade Bogaerts but someone like Martinez who they could possibly get something back that will help them now and in the future I could see the Red Sox doing.
  6. I hate all social media it is such a plague on society which is sad because the idea behind it is good just the practice of it is just utterly horrible.
  7. Not sure why the Red Sox would trade Bogaerts with Martinez. Makes no sense for them to package Bogaerts with Martinez and taking back Cain would not be something the Red Sox would want to bring back. Frelick and Small is not even close to being enough for Bogaerts.
  8. I don't see Boston beating out the Rays, Blue Jays, White Sox and the Angels. Even with 6 teams making the playoffs I just don't see the Red Sox beating out those teams along with the Twins and Mariners being wild cards in the playoff hunt. The Red Sox are in one of the toughest divisions in baseball and will only have one easy opponent in their division in the Orioles. While the White Sox get to beat up on the Royals and Tigers. I just don't see the Red Sox getting that final wild card spot and I think they will do what the Cubs did last year and sell off some of their expiring contracts.
  9. Some instructions on what we are supposed to do would be nice. I am assuming you just want a list of the top 20. 1. Joey Wiemer 2. Jackson Chourio 3. Ethan Small 4. Brice Turang 5. Sal Frelick 6. Garrett Mitchell 7. Jeferson Quero 8. Hedbert Perez 9. Tyler Black 10. Felix Valerio 11. Mario Feliciano 12. Brandon Knarr 13. Freddy Zamora 14. Joe Gray 15. Hendry Mendez 16. Eduardo Garcia 17. Zavier Warren 18. Abner Uribe 19. Micah Bello 20. Antoine Kelly
  10. Feliciano is having a very quiet good year so far with a slash line of .287/.361./.345. The only thing I would like to see improved from Feliciano is his power numbers a slugging of .345 just is not going to cut it but a .287 average and a .361 OBP is really good for a catcher. If Feliciano can up his slugging to something around .425-.440 and keep the same OBP that would give him an .800 OPS which at catcher would put him in an elite territory. If Feliciano could up his slugging up to .390 he would be equivalent to Keibert Ruiz.
  11. I am assuming you mean the pitching staff and if you mean the pitching staff then no, it is actually better than this time last year. 2021 as of May 21st was 10.42 and in 2022 as of May 21st is 10.57. Total number of strike outs is down though 455 in 2021 versus 404 in 2022. The Brewers are the only team in MLB right now with 400 strikeouts for a pitching staff. The Brewers are also best in MLB in K/9 and it is almost a whole 1 K/9 ahead of the second best team the White Sox with 9.64. The Brewers are a whole 1.02 K/9 ahead of the 3rd place team the Mets who have a K/9 of 9.55. The Brewers pitching staff is basically the best in MLB and there really isn't a team remotely close to the Brewers pitching staff. Batting wise the Brewers are down about 2% from this time last year on K%.
  12. I didn't know Alcides Escobar was still in the majors.
  13. I think the Bucks can get something for Lopez. There is still value there I just don’t think the value is with him in Milwaukee anymore. The Powell trade I suggested earlier would be fair for both teams and makes sense for both teams. Middleton is kind of a problem I agree there. Do the Bucks blow it up or do they continue with what they have for another year. Middleton to Portland makes some sense just not sure if Portland would do it or if the Bucks would. Portland has the assets to pull off the trade and the cap room.
  14. It was a career year for him I doubt he ever repeats that and gold gloves are not all that telling of a players actual defense. Half would only be about 2.8 and Hiura put up a 2.4 already in his career. So basically just Hiura at his best.
  15. O’Neill hasn’t shown any signs in improving at the plate. He is about as bad as Cain right now. He looks to be another Hiura one good year followed by a bunch of what happened years.
  16. It is google of course you should be concerned with private information. I don’t know anyone who has used Google Fi but it can’t be any worse than all of the other cell phone carriers.
  17. Well he never received an offer from the Brewers to return. You can’t return to a team when they refuse to give you a contract.
  18. The Cardinals issue is that O’Neill is hitting like Lorenzo Cain.
  19. He was a reach but not as much as Campbell would be.
  20. How in the heck do you walk Dansby Swanson on 5 pitches???? Suter sucks I am hoping to never see him again as a Brewer after this season.
  21. But I was told putting the ball in play is a good thing. Just put ball in play as exit velocity doesn’t matter just put ball in play.
  22. Less stress on the elbow. Yes it sounds counter intuitive but there was a small study on changing the ball from 5oz to 6oz and 4oz. In that study the 6oz saw a large improvement on stress to the elbow (making it less stressful) but the 4oz also saw a large improvement on stress to the elbow. But with the 4oz there was also significant velocity gain while the 6oz saw some gain in velocity but not as much. This was done with long toss but I believe the same would be true for pitching. The ball becoming heavier and bigger should help with the stress on the elbow. https://www.drivelinebaseball.com/2016/08/weighted-baseball-long-toss-less-stressful-on-arm/ I am not sure if they ever did more testing on this or not but from the limited sample they have done the heavier ball reduced stress and the lighter ball also reduced stress.
  23. Wiemer makes prospect team of the week. https://www.mlb.com/news/prospect-team-of-the-week-may-16-2022
  24. I think the humidors once the weather heats up we will see more offense. I think the balls will start flying during the warmer weather. But baseball really needs to figure out what they are going to do with the baseballs. I liked the idea of making the baseballs bigger and heavier. I think that will help reduce the amount of arm injuries and also help the hitters get more contact. It should increase the amount of balls in play which will be a good thing.
  25. For Mullins it is tricky as I believe you will have to blow the Orioles away with a deal to get him. Which means you are going to have to give up at least what was given up for Yelich. I don’t believe Mullins is worth that. I still think smaller trades will be the way to go adding someone like Bell or J.D. Martinez. Another bullpen arm is going to be needed also. I believe CF is fine with Taylor and Cain. I think DH and the bullpen are more pressing needs right now. Bell would fit perfectly as a platoon partner for Tellez and McCutchen.
