  1. It is not the dog's fault it is the owners. You can't fix stupid. If you have the training, knowledge and patience to bring in dogs like pit bulls and other dangerous dogs then sure do it but if you don't have the time to get the training and knowledge on how to handle these dogs then please for the safety of everyone and the dog do not get them. Even smaller dogs are a pain in the butt and these same people make the same mistakes with them.
  2. I am not all that concerned about the power for Turang as long as he has a decent OBP. Assuming the DH is in the NL next year or the year after Turang fits rather well into the leadoff spot or at #9. Yes it would be nice to have him hit for more power but not everyone on the team needs to be a slugging machine. There is room for guys who just hit singles and doubles and walk a lot in a lineup. I think the injuries last year for Mitchell is more concerning than his numbers at AA were. He will start the year at AA more than likely and should be in AAA at some point in the next season. I think his power will come and once it does you will see a bunch of scouts saying that the power was always there blah blah blah blah. Mitchell only played 64 games last year which is about half of the season. I am not concerned about the production as he hasn't really played enough yet to fully determine what he is yet.
  3. Cron is also a guy who they could have theoretically acquired several times over the years for practically nothing. I, too, doubt they are interested. I thought Cron has already resigned with the Rockies but could be wrong.
  4. For my works secret Santa this year I gave the person a box with a note inside that said "Hi, we are trying to reach you for your cars extended warranty!". They were not amused. There was also a gift card for starbucks all the way on the bottom.
  5. The Witcher Season 2 is out today! If you are into books and you like the genre it is definitely a good read. Also the final season of the Expanse has started another good book read also.

    Pizza

Why is it that majority of pizzas in WI and other states are these horrible thin crust pizzas. I absolutely hate them. I will take a Chicago deep dish pizza over that horrible thin crust junk. That isn't even pizza it is just crackers with pizza toppings!
  7. Please define accurate. If you are defining as accurate as being did x player get exactly within the stats? Then no it is not accurate and there really isn't an accurate system for this. If you are defining the predictions if they are within a margin of error then sure you could look at it that way. I think you would find that for the majority of the predictions they are within the margin of error or at least close enough for it to be negligible. There really isn't a perfect system and the predictions should be taken as what to expect or at least minimum expectations for a team or a player to achieve. I think a better way to show the information would be to show a high mid and low range. From there you could then look at where the player fell on the projections scale if they are on the high side then you could determine it was a career year (positive) and if on the low range again it would be another career year (negative). Neutral would be anything close to the mid range. Basically just use the projections as a basis to judge the player on what they did and forget the accuracy on the actual projections.
  8. I would rather pay Cain to stay home than take on Hick's contract.
  9. You probably checked to many boxes on what they wanted or not enough take your pick. If it was a corporate job they are probably looking for someone who is overly experienced or not experienced at all even though they probably had something like 3-5 years of experience required. Corporations are still treating everyone like it is 2008 when there wasn't a shortage in labor and they could get people who were overqualified but yet pay them the same rate as someone who has no experience. The tables have flipped now but the large corporate jobs are struggling to change their ways as they are just stuck in 2008 still. I can't decide what is worse in corporate America is it IT or is it HR. They are both bad but I think corporate HR is over taking corporate IT here in uselessness.
  10. The biggest issue and it varies from county to county and state to state is the exclusivity rights that have been granted to cable companies. For example only company A can lay down new or maintain existing fiber lines in region A while company B can lay down new or maintain existing fiber lines in region B. This is the dumbest thing that has happened and is hindering consumers. A board to rule over price increases will not help all that much as the state or county already know the costs and would just approve the increase anyways. The government also needs to stop giving exclusivity rights away to companies that maintain and create the new fiber lines. One thing that would help in price would be to remove these exclusive rights from the companies and allow more companies to use the fiber lines and to sell that access. It would allow for more competition and when there is more competition the consumer wins normally. There are times when there is too much competition and the product degrades or becomes lesser and the consumer starts to lose as the product becomes less and less valuable. Even Google wasn't able to break the exclusivity rights away from the cable companies so I have very little faith in this happening and I think Amazon was looking to do the same and they also gave up on the idea of doing this. Though I think Elon is far more stubborn and won't quit on something like this.
  11. Comcast now allowing YouTube TV as an option for their Xfinity broadband customers. https://variety.com/2021/digital/news/comcast-youtube-tv-xfinity-flex-1235129412/ Probably going to see more of this as the cable companies turn from cable and internet to just broadband only.
  12. You don't need to care when your company is a legal monopoly. You either pay and deal with them or you don't there is no incentive for them to change when they don't have to. It is also why cable companies can change their prices to whatever they wish even if it doesn't make sense at all.
  13. That will be tough as the only team that doesn't look to be competitive in 2022 will be the A's. I think at best they miss the playofffs but finish third in the AL West as it will all depend on how good the Rangers will be and if the Mariners are for real.
  14. Caleb Boushley is a WI native and went to UW-La Crosse. Throws a low 90's fastball but can command the pitch the only other pitch worth mentioning is his curveball which he can spot in the zone. He looks to be AAA rotation or bullpen filler.
  15. I think the Padres would include two players in that deal in Myers and Hosmer. The Padres were willing to take on Bradley for Myers so I would think they would take on Yelich if the Brewers take on both Hosmer and Myers. This would give the Padres financial flexibility for this season and would only impact them later so I don't believe the Brewers would have to add prospects to the deal. If my math is right it is about $80m in extra salary in total.
  16. I don't think you can fully eliminate tanking unless you go to an extreme measure which wouldn't be a good idea. I think if you add a minimum salary floor and if teams are below it by the end of the season they are not allowed to draft in the top 10 would be good. For a lottery I would like to see the teams actually play against each other to determine what pick they actually get so 1v2 3v4 5v6 6v7 8v9 and 10v11. In order to be eligible for the lottery each team must be at or above the leagues minimum salary. The lottery would occur the day after the season ends and the games would be played 1-3 days after the lottery is concluded. The teams can only use players who were on the teams 40 man roster on the last day of the season. The total number of wins from the playoff teams will be the total number of ping pong balls and will be divided out by the number of wins (1 win = 1/4 of a ping pong ball) each team has who did not make the playoffs and are above or at the leagues minimum salary. This will put an emphasis on teams to continue to try to win in order to get more ping pong balls to get a better draft spot. The league gets 6 more games that can be televised to bring in more revenue and the players get a win on the tanking part. There will still be some tanking but the lottery would help in this regard.
  17. You may have to go to a digital signal or just use DVD as the coax cable is almost dead. Cable companies are going with wifi boxes now with no coax option.
  18. According to Manfred's statement on mlb.com the owners did offer a salary floor. I assume this also means that the owners requested a salary cap but I actually can't find anything that states what exactly the owners are requesting. They only proposed a floor and that is it. The cap is the CBT which is already in place and the players want that to increase to $250m while MLB has countered with as high as $220m. The floor was also rejected by the players union because there were no details about what happens if a team goes under the floor. There were also some suggestions by the league to go back to the 2 divisions per league with some realignment happening and an increase in the number of playoff teams 12-14. MLB would probably look more like the NBA in how the divisions would be set up so something like: AL1: 1.Yankees 2.Red Sox 3. Blue Jays 4. Nationals 5. Mets 6. Phillies 7. Orioles AL2: 1. Pirates 2. Reds 3. Guardians 4. Tigers 5. White Sox 6. Cubs 7. Brewers 8. Cardinals NL1: 1. Twins 2. Royals 3. Rays 4. Braves 5. Marlins 6. Rangers 7. Astros NL2: 1. Angels 2. Dodgers 3. A's 4. Padres 5. Mariners 6. Giants 7. Rockies 8. Dbacks
  19. Lopez out indefinitely and had surgery today on his back. https://theathletic.com/news/milwaukee-center-brook-lopez-has-back-surgery-will-be-out-indefinitely/6PNp0wMdxbG2/
  20. One of the more interesting things to come from the CBA talks is a possible realignment with two divisions with one having 7 and one having 8 teams in both the NL and AL. I think competitively that would hurt the small market teams and thus the proposals for 12 and 14 team playoffs.
  21. MLB so far has this on the table: Higher Competitive Balance Tax (increases the amount of the tax threshold) Removal of draft pick compensation for losing QO players Draft lottery DH for both leagues Players union: FA earlier for players Arbitration process earlier Revenue sharing restructure (play in FA get more revenue sharing, minimum salary tax, etc) Both are pretty far apart don't expect anything anytime soon but should be before spring training starts.
  22. Yikes if Stroman can get this I wonder what the return on Peralta, Burnes or Woodruff would be? If the prices on FA pitchers are any indication it looks like Burnes would cost 3 Trouts in value, Woodruff 1.5 Trouts and Peralta 1 Trout? I am just guessing here but it seems like pitching is at a huge premium and I don't think the Brewers would be able to get that value but yikes! Also I wouldn't trade any of the three. I do wonder if the values that are being spent on FA pitching this off season if someone like Lauer or Hauser could possibly bring in something significant.
  23. 14 team playoffs being discussed in new CBA. I am not sure this will pass but it sounds like the owners want an expanded playoffs. https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/mlb-proposes-expanded-playoff-format-during-cba-negotiations-per-report/
  24. Good plan, except you can't watch Brewers games on mlbtv, in market that is. Well may be not for 2022 but for 2023 it may be possible. https://nypost.com/2021/10/17/mlb-in-talks-to-launch-nationwide-streaming-service-for-home-games/
  25. I think they have some talented receivers but with a bad QB and an O-line with pass protection problems, receiver doesn't matter at all. Talented receivers don't run bad routes and miss catches that HS WR make.
