  1. I like the option, in case of the over the top missed call in the NFCCG last season, however coaches need to have better discretion of when to use it. It must be 100% clear and compelling. Very rare that you will see one of those missed. It should come from a replay booth or whatever you want to call it.
  2. Maybe but he was the one I was most intrigued by this off season.
  3. I think you would still need A-AAA. A ball would basically be a shuttle service for whoever needs a player due to injuries, trades or call ups for AA and AAA. You would still need the players to play games especially for injury replacements for the MLB team. Everything below A ball can be eliminated.
  4. I think the Astros will be fine. They actually played a better team than the Yankees did. I like the Astros pitching more than the Yankees at least the starting pitching. Offensively they are about even. Whoever wins in the AL should win the World Series.
  5. I am more worried about if this injury is something Bledsoe will have to deal with all year. The PG depth on this team is poor at best without the injury. Depending on Hill for a long period of time may mean the 3 or 4 seed in the playoffs instead of the 1 or 2 seed. Falling to the 4 seed is worrisome the 3 seed not so much. Hopefully Bledsoe will be fine and this won't linger on later into the season.
  6. Bledsoe out 2-3 weeks. Uggg the PG position looks to be a problem now if Bledsoe misses any more time for this injury.
  7. This is why I have no sympathy for the NCAA when it comes to players being paid. The NCAA simply does not care about the athletes anymore.
  8. Foles could be traded they will have to add a pick to trade him but he is tradeable. I wouldn't be surprised if the Bears traded for him. Long for Foles and a 2nd or 3rd sounds about right. Haven't looked at the cap numbers but I think it would fit for Chicago with Long being the guy traded to clear cap space
  9. Seager and Gray for Hader is fair for both teams.
  10. I forgot how small (skinny?) he is.
  11. It definitely looks like the Brewers don't see Fry as a catcher and he will be primarily be a 1B/3B.
  12. Giannis is just overly competitive, which is a good thing most of the time.
  13. Trades: Anderson + $4m to the Angels for Maitan and Yan Brown and Nottingham/Ashby to the Twins for Gordon Signings: Pomeranz 3-years $20m Wheeler 5-years $75m Smith 3-years $36m d’Arnaud 2-years $5m Castro 1-year $3m Odorizzi 5-years $70m Roster: C: Pina and d’Arnaud 1B: Thames and Braun 2B: Hiura SS: Arcia and Gordon 3B: Shaw and Castro LF: Braun, Grisham, Taylor and Gamel CF: Cain, Grisham and Taylor RF: Yelich, Grisham, Taylor and Gamel SP: Woodruff, Wheeler, Odorizzi, Davies, Houser RP: Feyereisen, Hader, Smith, Pomeranz, Suter, Peralta and Burnes I am probably over the budget by a lot but I don't really care. If Gordon looks like he can replace Arcia at SS he can be dumped and save about $2m. Should be good for another 85-90 wins. Will need a bounce back year from Shaw to do that.
  14. Chase Anderson – $10.3MM – club option for $8.5MM: Yes but trade to the Angels and send $4m for Maitan and Yan Jimmy Nelson – $3.7MM: offer no but try and sign to a MiLB contract Hernan Perez – $3.0MM: No Corey Knebel – $5.125MM: Yes Alex Claudio – $2.2MM: Yes Travis Shaw – $4.7MM: Yes Manny Pina – $2.2MM – club option for $1.85MM with a $150K buyout: Yes Cory Spangenberg – $1.5MM: No Zach Davies – $5.0MM: Yes Junior Guerra – $3.5MM: NO Tyler Saladino – $1.0MM: GOD NO Orlando Arcia – $2.7MM: Yes unfortunately Ben Gamel – $1.6MM: Yes Brent Suter – $900K: Yes Tyler Austin – $1.2MM: offer no but try and sign to a MiLB contract So about $23m in arbitration including the $4m being sent to the Angels. I don't see Moustakas coming back so Shaw will need to be offered arbitration as there really isn't another good option in free agency. If Moustakas is not coming back I would really want Austin back and depending on the SS FA market Spangenburg wouldn't be a bad option to bring back either.
  15. I wouldn't mind a Hamels signing. Not the best option but far from the worst. If it is only a one or two year deal it would be perfect. If we can sign Hamels and Wheeler/Odorizzi along with Lyles that gives the Brewers a starting rotation of Woodruff, Davies, Wheeler, Hamels and Lyles. That is a good starting rotation with some depth in Burnes and Hauser as your 6th and 7th options. You could even trade Davies to the Twins for Nick Gordon to help at SS.
  16. NBA's over/under for the season: I think I would go with the under for the Rockets and over for the Hawks.
  17. Brown and Nottingham should be enough to get Gordon. Even a Davies for Gordon is really close. You may even be able to trade Anderson and Nottingham for Gordon. You won't have to give up much to get Gordon.
  18. I would rather roll the dice on Nick Gordon than sign Iglesias or Mercer. I think the Brewers and the Twins match up rather well for a trade like this as the Brewers could offer a few different options that I think the Twins may like.
  19. There really isn't an upgrade worth the money to invest in free agency at SS or 3B. At 3B you have Rendon and unless you are ready to pay about double what Grandal is going to get in years and money it is not worth it there. Beyond Grandal there isn't much available in free agency for upgrades offensively maybe Gregorius if you think he can bounce back or if you believe Donaldson has found the fountain of youth in Atlanta and will put up another good year or two. If you are going to spend the money on offense it would be best to spend it on Grandal. Starting pitching there is more available and I would go after Wheeler or Odorizzi.
  20. Grandal should be priority #1 this off season and Moose can walk unless he wants to come back on a 1-year deal at $8m.
  21. They just need to get rid of the endless fouling during the final 2-minutes of the game which makes the game extend for about 30-min. The last 2-minutes of any basketball game is the worst part of the sport. If they could get rid of this it would be great but I understand the strategy behind this it just slows the game down completely and is usually unnecessary and just extends the time the game is played versus actually deciding the outcome of the game. I am not sure how you fix this or if you can.
