  1. Deep balls not a problem today for Coan.
  2. The strike zone the last couple of games has been atrocious. Seriously how are some of these pitches even close to being a strike?
  3. No it is Bellinger's to lose at this point.
  4. Why does Braun always swing at the first pitch out of the strike zone but will watch a tumbling slider or fastball go right down the middle of the plate?
  5. Mid 90's fastball with an occasional 100 MPH he also throws a slider which is below average still a work in progress and a very rarely used change up which is probably horrible. He will need to improve on either his slider or his change up if he is going to be a MLB pitcher. He profiles as a reliever as he only has one pitch that is at least average everything else is below average. If he can get his slider to an average pitch he should be a good RHP option out of the bullpen. He can be wild at times and will walk batters but he does strike out a lot of batters so far in ~60IP he has struck out 94 and has walked 31. Currently has a WHIP of 1.11 and an ERA of 2.49 in AAA. Feyereisen will also need to be added to the 40-man this off season as he is rule 5 eligible I believe.
  6. Swinging at pitches on the corner's normally results in weak ground outs or pop outs. So not swinging at them and hoping the umpire gives you the call is the best possible outcome. This has been the Brewers team hitting philosophy for awhile now.
  7. Liking the new Tool album. one of my favorite songs:
  8. The throws weren't even that bad on the overthrow. Its not like he is lofting the balls up and allowing the defenders to recover like Hornibrook was doing last year. Every deep ball that Hornibrook threw last year had too much air under it and allowed the defenders to recover when they had someone beat deep. Overall I think Coan did a good job with his throws even with the two "bad" overthrows early in the game it wasn't bad. The posts earlier seem to be expecting way too much from Coan and expecting playoff Rodgers in his prime on every throw.
  9. Coan played good tonight. Other than the two over throws on deep balls he was rather accurate with his throws tonight. Taylor looked really impressive on the two catches he made. The 2nd touchdown catch was very impressive for a RB.
  10. Molina making Estrada look like an Olympic sprinter.
  11. These were all rule 5 pick options. So you are not going to get perfection and there are going to be warts.
  12. Here are some of the Rule 5 draft players I have found a little bit interesting some are unrealistic as they have only reached AA and will probably be protected, I have also not checked all of them to see if they have been recently added to their teams 40 man rosters. Jose Gomez SS Phillies (AA) .265/.320/.356 Luis Carpio SS Mets (AA) .254/.340/.344 Nick Gordon SS Twins (AAA) .298/.342/.459 Cristian Santana 1B/3B/SS Dodgers (AA) .303/.322/.439 Jonathan Arauz SS/2B/3B Astros (AA) .232/.308/.366 Gordon is probably the most unrealistic option but if the Twins wanted to trade him it would be for someone like Woodruff. Jose Gomez or Cristian Santana maybe the more realistic options. Gomez has no where to play for the Phillies and the same for Santana with the Dodgers. I am not sure what the Dodgers or the Phillies would require for either of these players but these two I believe are probably the more realistic options to replace Arcia at some point next year.
  13. Yeah robot umpires can't come soon enough. A strike out on a pitch clearly out of the strike zone and then a walk on a ball in the strike zone.
  14. Coan named the starter for game one. This was expected and he has had a solid summer in practice. Mertz was the obvious sexy pick to start at QB but he is a freshman and most don't start their first year. I am not disappointed in Mertz not starting just want to see what the hype was about and if he can live up to that hype.
  15. Which is basically how a manager should be looking at things as the managerial job market is rather volatile. If Counsell were to be fired at the end of this season he would have a job with basically any team he wanted to work for. The Reds, White Sox, Tigers, Giants, Padres, Angels, Rangers, Pirates, and the Mariners would all be lining up to hire Counsell as their manager. I think you could even put the Cubs, Cardinals, and the Phillies as possible destinations for Counsell. Nearly half of the teams in MLB would be interested in hiring Counsell as their manager so it makes sense for Counsell to not be as committed. I believe Counsell stays and will stay for a rather long time or as long as Stearns stays in Milwaukee that is.

  18. Doubt it not much changed he was still the same player and I doubt teams changed their valuation of him all that much.
  19. Cephus has been cleared to play. This should help the team out this year at WR.
  20. I don't even watch the NFL anymore. The last time I watched a full NFL game was in 2011. Mostly it is just watching a quarter here and there but I will watch the Badgers here and there when they are on. I just can't watch the NFL anymore it is just boring.
  21. I think he was early in his career. I also remember after he got sent down in 2007 that Sveum told him he needed to be more aggressive early in the count. His walk rate fell about 5-8% while still maintaining a good 10ish% rate but his batting average went from the mid .230s to right around .270. Sveum was the best hitting coach the Brewers have had in a long time. Would really love for the Brewers to bring him back and work with Arcia.
  22. What’s wrong with moving to the country? The negative environmental externalities? At some point, I think you’ll see the gas tax go up to discourage long commutes. I am just being snobby not wanting more people to live in the rural areas.
