  1. Not if you do a Braun and Peralta for Puig, Kazmir, and one of De Jong/Sheffield/Abdullah. That saves the Dodgers about $7-10m over the next two years.
  2. Yes they can easily afford both but you are running out of room to play everyone at that point. At some point next year Brinson will be with the Brewers with Puig, Braun, Santana and Broxton in the OF already that won't give you much playing time for all 5 of those players and they need playing time as 3/5 of those players are developing players. Plus adding Puig to the roster doesn't really move the wins all that much for the Brewers. The Brewers would go to a 70 win team to about a 74 win team. So you are going to pay Braun and Puig just to get about 4 more wins next year? A Braun and Puig trade makes sense for both the Dodgers and the Brewers. I suspect the Brewers didn't want to part with money otherwise I don't see a reason why this trade didn't happen.
  3. Same swing as Travis Hafner had not sure that is good or bad.
  4. The way he acted and basically accused other's of botching the test he took when caught.. While other players have claimed ignorance as to how they took a banned substance, Braun went after a person... I am getting tired of reading this. The person who collected the sample did not follow the agreed upon process between the MLB and the MLBPA. So Braun had every right to go after him and was justified in doing so. Legally the MLB should have thrown this out before it even became public as the chain of custody for the samples did not follow the guidelines.
  5. So you are telling me I was saying Poddonkey wrong this whole time?
  6. Joe Boyle is a name to watch. He was only throwing in the mid 80's and is now throwing in the mid 90's. If he can consistently sit in the mid 90's he should be a top 10 draft pick. I liked what I saw though it was just against one batter on Monday. Maybe Colby has some more info on him?
  7. Again Nieuwenhuis is redundant and doesn't add value above what the Brewers already have. Liriano, Reed, and Wren are all options equal to what Nieuwenhuis brings value wise.
  8. The Angel's will not be trading Trout. There is no team in baseball that will be willing to pay the amount that the Angels will be asking for. For example the Red Sox would have to give up Benintendi, Moncada, plus more for Trout. Do you really think a team is going to pay that much in prospects for Trout? There is no way the Angels will get enough value in trading Trout so they are stuck with him or they can take a lesser deal than what Trout is worth.
  9. I am expecting a Gennett trade and Rivera would be someone the Brewers will keep as he can play 2B, SS, 3B and some OF. Now he probably won't hit all that well but defensively he has value for the Brewers. You are right about the No DL in the offseason so keeping Houser on there shouldn't be a problem as once the season starts a 40-man spot will open up as he is put on the 60-day DL. I wouldn't be surprised if Houser loses his 40-man spot in the off season as he is not likely to pitch in 2017.
  10. Let me rephrase. If the team did not make the playoffs or doesn't have a known superstar the NBA will not put that team on any of their prime time games.
  11. The Brewers have so many OF's that losing Nieuwenhuis wouldn't hurt as much as you think it will. Next year the Brewers will have Phillips, Brinson, Liriano, Roache and Taylor all vying for a spot in AAA. So yeah Nieuwenhuis would be replaced by Reed or Wren or both. Santana, Braun, Broxton, Reed, and Wren as the OF's next year is pretty good depth with Liriano, Roache, Taylor, and Phillips all in AAA. At some point Brinson will be with the Brewers next year so Nieuwenhuis will more than likely be gone. Other players like Wren or Reed can take over for Nieuwenhuis. 40 man subtractions: Flores Nieuwenhuis Capuano Cravy Goforth Nolin Cecchini Elmore Scahill Rowen Wilkins Boyer Middlebrooks 40 man down to 31 or 30 if the Brewers put Houser on the 60 day DL they could even remove him from the 40 man. 40 man additions: Brinson Wren Taylor Hader Wang Phillips M.Diaz Suter Coulter J. Ortega (if Houser is on 60-day DL or is removed)
  12. I hate the NBA and their dang scheduling. At least MLB, NHL, and the NFL will show the small market teams during a prime time event. The NBA not so much.
  13. Well he is not really retiring. I didn't look through the thread if this was already posted but here it is anyways:
  14. Which is nice.
  15. I bet it is. I will be here all week folks! I'm sorry the 13 year old in me just couldn't let that one pass.
  16. Same I am not sure why so many are enamored with Guzman to me he is just meh. I am going to guess it will be Jurado.
  17. Ortiz throwing about 50 pitches in 3 innings is probably the culprit here. Plus it is late in the minor league season and Ortiz is probably getting close to his pitch and innings limit for the year.
  18. If the Brewers go power bat then I would prefer them to go with the prep bat Alejandro Toral while his only position is 1B (in my opinion) he has a lot of power potential and a smooth bat with an advanced approach at the plate for his age. If the Brewers go College bat I would prefer KJ Harrison who should be available when the Brewers are picking though it is hard to say right now who will or will not be available when the Brewers are picking.
  19. I would do Wily Peralta or Michael Reed for Puig trade.
  20. Without the Braves collapsing in 2011 after August 31st the Cardinals would not have made the playoffs. After August 31st the Braves only won 9 games. The Braves had an 8.5 game lead over the Cardinals after August 31st if the Braves would have won 2 more games in September they would have been in the playoffs facing the Brewers. The Brewers more than likely still do not make the World Series as the Brewers offense was a sleep for the majority of the playoffs. The Brewers probably would have lost in 6 games to the Diamondbacks in the same fashion they lost to the Cardinals. The Cardinals bullpen in 2011 wasn't even all that good for the year they had the worst playoff team bullpen and I can not agree with the Cardinals having a bullpen like the Royals did last year that is just not true. The Brewers had a top 10 bullpen in 2011 while the Cardinals were ranked 15th by RA/g. I chose RA/g because the bullpen is supposed to prevent runs from scoring the Cardinals bullpen was just barely better than the league average by .01. The reason the Cardinals won that series was because the Brewers just did not play up to their level while the Cardinals did and nothing more.
  21. Not exactly identical but pretty close. Griffey Jr. http://pbs.twimg.com/media/B2-fExwCEAATixt.png Arcia http://d3d2maoophos6y.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2016/05/12213819/357150422219_Suns_at_Shuckers.jpg Arcia holds the bat out a little more than Griffey did. Griffey was also more standing straight up while Arcia has a small squat to his stance.
  22. Rosenthal is saying it is a significant piece coming back. From MLB Trade Rumors: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/08/rosenthals-latest-rangers-brewers-braun-braves-sale-mariners.html
  23. More commenting on his long term as he hitters were able to almost tee off on him the longer he was in the game in college or at least the start that I got to see him pitch. He needs to add stamina in order to be a starter. His breaking ball is what gets hurt the most the further he goes in the game. I know he will eventually be stretched out but there is legitimate concern about his stamina going forward. If he can last longer into games his stuff is good enough to be a #3 type pitcher otherwise he is going to be a late inning reliever.
  24. I am starting to really like Corbin Burnes. Hopefully the Brewers are able to increase his stamina to allow him to go further into the game. If he is not able to go further into the games at worst he is a late inning bullpen piece.
