  1. Ludwick is having a decent year for the Reds.

Heckathorn 35. Fautino De Los Santos Edit--- Can't believe I forgot about the 50 IP thing for Fiers. I guess that is what I get for copying and pasting of a list I had premade before CheezWizHed made this.
  3. http://i.imgur.com/nQzJj.jpg http://www.threadbombing.com/data/media/51/comemebro.jpg
  4. I'm more partial to MAD Tv and Ms Swan and I am not sure I really have a favorite SNL skit but anything with Norm or Farley is always funny.
  5. One glaring omission is Josh Prince. How can you not have Prince on your top 50? You have Arnett and Walla in the top 50 but not Josh Prince? Kind of confusing there.
  6. I am not sure that Gennett will go nor do I believe Morris or Davis will also be in the AFL. I would believe the Brewers would want to get more work in for players that have missed parts of the season more so than guys that have played a full season. The players I think who will be on a team are Roache, Haniger, Coulter, Taylor, Y. Rivera, and Prince. Garfield though is very interesting and I could see him being at the AFL. I think Roache is almost a lock if he is healthy as I see the Brewers wanting to get him as much playing time as they possibly can get for him the same can be said about Coulter and Taylor. Rivera and Prince are wildcards to me as I can see them being considered but in the end not getting a spot on an AFL roster.
  7. Everyone always wants to compare Gennett with Pedroia which I believe would be his ceiling and I have his floor being that of José Altuve who is another good comp with Gennett. Either way I believe Gennett is going to be a MLB contributor. I don't see Gennett being an All Star type player but he could put up numbers that will make him look like on every now and then.
  8. Lets see how many people will only look at the title and freak out. Not Martin Maldonado of the Brewers but Chris Maldonado of the Washington Nationals. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2012/08/nationals-designate-carlos-maldonado-for-assignment.html
  9. Lock. Total lock. Done deal. 2 weeks ago. Yeah how is Olt still on the Rangers I thought he was on the Marlins? When did Olt get traded back to the Rangers?
  10. At what point does Hunter Morris become a legitimate top 10 (organizational) prospect for the Brewers? He is currently doing very well in AA. If he does this in AAA next year where do the Brewers put Gamel? I am assuming the Brewers would try and find a position for him RF maybe? I'm not sure how athletic Morris is but could he play a corner OF spot?
  11. In '92 Pat Listach finished 18th for the MVP and won the ROY award but probably should not have won it. Kenny Lofton actually had a better year in '92 than Listach did. Fiers might actually be more like Cal Eldred where he finishes third (Eldred finished 5th in '92). Eldred in '92 went 11-2 with 100.1 IP, 0.987 WHIP, and a 1.79 ERA. Eldred also had 2 CG and 1 SHO that year. I think Fiers will get more IP than Eldred did as he is already more than half way there. Also Fiers stats are very similar to what Eldred did in '92 though Fiers has a considerably higher k/9 than Eldred did and Fiers is giving up about 0.6 more hits per 9 innings than Eldred did and their BB/9 are nearly identical Eldred was at 2.1 BB/9 while Fiers is at 2.2 BB/9. Eldred had a 0.987 WHIP while Fiers has a 1.061 WHIP for a difference of 0.074. I believe Eldred's '92 season is fairly comparable to Fiers current season and I believe Fiers will finish in the top 5 for the NL ROTY. I think it is Wade Miley's award to lose though I wouldn't be all that surprised if Harper wins it by default. I don't believe Aoki will be even in the discussion with the writers for this award though he should be.
  12. one could say that the presence of Broxton could have prevented the implosion that happened.... Not really since Axford still would be bad and you still have Loe, Parra, Veras, and Krod (but I don't think KRod would be on the Brewers if the Brewers would have signed Broxton). So even if you take out Krod you are still looking at a bullpen that has completely underperformed.
  13. This sounds more like a deal that would be done in the off season than right now.
  14. I wish the Brewers would have signed Broxton this off season. He was one of the guys that I wanted the Brewers to take a chance on. He would have improved the bullpen here but not enough to help save it from the implosion that happened.
  15. At least Cox is gone from the Cardinals. I really wanted the Brewers to draft him at the #14 spot in 2010. I'm not sure why the Cardinals like to trade top prospects for relief pitchers but at least it is them doing it now and not the Brewers. Imagine the out rage there would be on this forum if Melvin would trade someone like Cox for a relief pitcher.
  16. Other than Greinke the two names that you are going to see linked to the Brewers this off season will be Francisco Liriano and Edwin Jackson. Liriano is going to be more of a gamble and I can see Melvin trying to gamble with Liriano and Jackson is going to be more of a safe bet which I also see Melvin looking at. I think this off season the Brewers have Jackson as their 1b and Liriano as their 1c with Greinke obviously being the 1a choice. Lohse and Dempster are also available and they will also be linked to the Brewers but I really do not want anything to do with Lohse or Dempster. Lohse more so than Dempster as I see Lohse more along the lines of a Looper type of a signing. Dempster probably fits into the mold of a Wolf signing where he will be good for a couple of years and then the last two with the option year you will see a rather high decline in his performance where he is just not worth the contract at all anymore. I could see Jackson getting a 4 year deal worth about $50-60m with an option year for a 5th year with a buyout. Liriano will probably get a 1 or 2 year contract at about $12-15m a year.

  18. Brewers get Fautino De Los Santos from the A's. http://www.sfgate.com/sports/article/A-s-trade-De-Los-Santos-for-Kottaras-3743734.php
  19. My top 10: 1. Thornburg 2. Segura 3. Nelson 4. Peralta 5. Gennett 6. Taylor 7. Jungmann 8. Hellweg 9. Pena 10. Burgos or Roache
  20. I really can not figure Gallardo out at all. One year he is very good then the next not so much. The same from start to start he will be lights out and then he will look like Suppan Jr. I think it is time to cut bait and just trade Gallardo this off season. He is just not a player I believe you build a team around and he is definitely not a #1 or Ace type of a pitcher. Right now it looks like Gallardo is a #2 or a #3 starter while valuable it is not something that the Brewers need right now. If the Brewers are able to resign Greinke in the off season then yeah keep Gallardo but if the team is not able to get a #1 type pitcher either through trading or signing I just do not see this team going anywhere with Gallardo as the #1. There would be a lot of teams interested in Gallardo next year and it would only benefit the Brewers to trade Gallardo in the off season. Red Sox: Gallardo for Bogaerts, Garin Cecchini, and Stolmy Pimentel. This gives the Brewers a good SS, 3B, and a back end of the rotation starter or bullpen arm (if Pimentel can not control his 2nd and third pitches). Royals: I really think the Royals are going to make a push for someone that can help anchor their rotation. Hopefully Melvin can trick the Royals into thinking that Gallardo is a #1 type of a pitcher and can get some of the pieces that were traded away back. Not sure what the Royals would give up but there is a lot to choose from. Angels: With the departure of Santana more than likely going to happen this could be a move they will make. Possibly Segura, Cowart, Richards, and another prospect for Gallardo? Mariners: Not sure they should be looking for pitching more so offense than pitching at this point in time but they have some nice pieces that would be good to great to get in a Gallardo trade. Dodgers: Not sure they have enough prospects to make this trade. Yankees: Some of the shine on some of the Yankee prospects have washed off right now and I am not sure they will have what it takes to pull a trade off for Gallardo. I don't see any of the NL Central teams willing to give up key prospects or enough of them to get Gallardo. Rangers: They will still have a hole in their rotation and I am not sure on how sold they are on Feliz being in the rotation he may return to the bullpen after this year. Obvious prospects being Olt, Profar, and Perez who would interest the Brewers. A's: This would be a Beane move but I am not sure he will give up the prospects needed to get Gallardo. Rays: Gallardo maybe to expensive for the Rays but then again maybe not. Again like the Royals there is a lot to choose from here. Braves: Teheran is really the only piece that makes sense here from the Braves. Tigers: I believe the Tigers would be all over this and would give up their young 3B in Castellanos but I am not sure just Castellanos would be enough for Gallardo. Not sure what else the Tigers have. Blue Jays: This would be a move I could see the Blue Jays doing but I am not all that familiar with the Blue Jays farm system.
  21. I would rather see Greinke and Gallardo for Profar, Perez, and Grimm right now. Gallardo is looking really bad this year.
  22. Are you sure they dont calculate separate pf for lefties and righties? There are a lot of problems with park factors but I'm not convinced that ignoring park effects completely is a better approach. Shouldn't the park factors cancel themselves out at some point?
  23. To me AAA is a step down in talent over what is in AA. Making the jump from AA to the majors is about equally as hard as making the jump from AAA to the majors. Since the majority of AAA players are guys that organizations stash there as fodder for the major league club like veterans and players who are not really everyday MLB players the infamous AAAA type players. The talent in AAA really isn't all that great and the competition isn't all that much better in AAA than it is in AA, actually AA is probably a harder league than AAA is because of all the talent that is in AA compared to what is in AAA. Greinke should be gone by Saturday the latest and I wouldn't be surprised if a trade is done either tonight or sometime tomorrow and I don't believe Andrus will be in any kind of a deal. I think in the end it will be the Braves getting Greinke with them giving up Teheran and another piece. That other piece from the Braves I would really like to see would be Joey Terdoslavich the Braves just switched him over to 3B this year and he has been handling it fairly well. He definitely has enough power potential to be an everyday 3B. I am not sure the Braves would give up both Teheran and Terdoslavich in a trade for Greinke. Terdoslavich didn't hit all that well in AAA but is tearing it up in AA. He will be 24 in September so not all that young but I see him as probably the 3rd best 3B option the Brewers could get with Cowart and Olt being the better options (I like Cowart better).
  24. The best comp would be Jose Reyes. So you would have to start there and add 2-3 years to the contract.
  25. The White Sox have a really bad minor league system. There really isn't anything there that stands out and is something that I would want in return for Greinke. But if the White Sox are serious I would take Addison Reed, Tyler Saladino, ........... screw it the White Sox really do not have anything of value for Greinke. The White Sox would have to get a third team involved in order to get Greinke. I do not see the White Sox as a serious bidder for Greinke and I do not see anything in there farm system that is even worth looking at.
