  1. Yes and I have also proposed other trades in this thread that were even more off the wall. Like trading Suppan + prospects for Halladay and Wells. Or having all those A ballers for Swisher and Halladay and Wells going to the Yankees though I believe the Yankees would probably want Rios more than Wells. These are just ideas and I feel they could be a possibility however low the possibility of it actually happening. I don't see Lawrie or Escobar being traded nor Gamel either so there really isn't much to talk about in a trade unless you bring in the other A ballers into the discussion.
  2. With Kemp playing in and wow seriously. Gahhhh. Freaking Hart and his smoke and mirrors hitting.
  3. SIGH. Hart comes up and swings at the first pitch are you kidding me?
  4. The game should have been over in the 9th. Braun up with a man on 2nd with 2 outs. The game should have been over right there.
  5. Not much he could have done with that one. It may have or may not have went foul it was a judgement call there. Even if Hall picks that up I don't think he throws out Martin at 1st.
  6. Inside the park home runs?
  7. I would love to see a home run derby of these ten players: 1. Babe Ruth 2. Adam Dunn 3. Russel Branyan 4. Jeromy Burnitz 5. Ryan Howard 6. Prince Fielder 7. Ken Griffey Jr. 8. Cecil Fielder 9. Rob Deer 10. Josh Hamilton Who would win that HR Derby?
  8. I'm hoping for a Branyan vs. Prince finals. Branyan would win though. Branyan would put on a show that even Josh Hamilton would be jealous over.
  9. You would have to either bank on the younger players playing above their heads or doing what the Phillies are doing this year slugging teams to death. This would probably be a rebuilding year if it doesn't work out but the Brewers would be set up for the next 4 or 5 years after that. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that at least 6 of the players in the roster will be in the starting lineup on opening day in 2011. I am hoping Melvin doesn't sign a veteran starter and put him in the rotation. Bush will probably be gone in 2011 though. Without knowing what other teams will look like in 2011 you really can't say how they would do. I believe the Cubs will be on a down swing especially if they are relying on Soriano, Fukudome, Ramirez, and Lee then. Not to mention their starting rotation will be taking hits as they age. I believe the Cubs have one more season before they have to implode the team they have and start over. The Cardinals will be competitive as long as Pujols is healthy and on the team it is just finding players to hit behind and infront of him. I believe the Brewers and Reds will be top dogs in 2010 in the NL central. Everyone else in the NL Central are getting older or don't have the talent to compete yet. Thats all I'm going to post on this but I just don't see Melvin trading Fielder unless he gets a can't miss package for Fielder.
  10. If Victorino wouldn't have been picked in the fan vote (did he get picked?) he would have been picked by Manuel. Werth is more deserving the Victorino that is for sure and Sandoval should have been also picked to be there.
  11. Cain is injured this year I expect him to drop down and Salome still has a lot of defensive question marks and Gindl is well Gindl. Lawrie and Escobar will be in the top 50 but Ordorizzi and Braddock have a good chance of cracking the top 50 or very close to the top 50. Lucroy will replace Salome in the rankings in terms of a catching prospect in the Brewers organization. Maybe not a top 50 guy but he should be close and in the top 100 for sure. I could see Salome drop out of the top 50 next year especially if his defense behind the plate does not improve. Salome and Gindl are not solidly above these guys.
  12. What do you mean? Werth's stats so far this year. SEASON TEAM G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB SO SB CS AVG OBP SLG OPS 2009 Phi 81 299 59 80 14 1 20 54 49 74 12 2 .268 .373 .522 .895 That isn't to far off from any of the other All Stars. Werth is 7th in OPS in NL OF's. Adam Dunn definitely deserved to be at the All Star game along with Kemp and Upton. Did Upton make it onto the All Star team? Werth isn't a bad pick I can't seem to find how you could be complaing about Werth as an All Star. He definitely has deserved to be an All Star this year.
  13. Who else is involved? The Yankees I don't believe they are. The Red Sox nope not in it either. The Cubs nope not in it either. The Twins not something they would do. How about ummm who else? The Cardinals don't have the prospects to spare nor the cash available DeRosa put them up to their limit for this year. Now who does that leave with the available prospects. This is much like last year with Sabathia there just isn't that many teams with the amount of talent the Brewers have that are in on Halladay. Melvin can hold off on Escobar who is off the table. The only other team I can think of that could be in on Halladay are the Rangers and I doubt the Rangers would even give up their best pitching prospect for 1.5 years of Halladay. Definitely not worth the risk of letting go of their best pitching prospect for Halladay which is who the Jays would want in return. Please name the teams you think that are in on Halladay because I don't believe there are that many. I don't know why Butler isn't in our rotation it may have something to do with that we are in contention for a playoff spot and there just isn't any room to have a rookie pitcher who won't be able to go that many innings in the rotation. The Jays could afford having that happen because they are just about out of the playoff picture. Dillard would probably be on the Jays rotation or even the Royals rotation or a lot of other teams that are not really in it.
  14. Just because they are not in BA top 50 doesn't mean they are not top prospects. Braddock is a #1 or #2 type starter just because he has been recently moved to the pen means very little. Ordorizzi and Periard are also #1 or #2 type pitchers in low A ball. Braddock will be in the top 50 next year in the BA ranking along with Ordorizzi and Periard. I wouldn't be surprised if Lucroy was also near the top 50. Dykstra is a great prospect and he is only 20 years old and he is only going to get better. You really don't know the Brewers system other than Lawrie, Escobar, and Gamel I don't expect you to know the Brewers system but please don't say they are not something special because they are. Butler is a possible #2 or #3 type starter with the stuff that he has. Butler this year has been doing great and would be the guy that could step into the Jays rotation right now. Periard, Ordorizzi, and Braddock are better than anything the Red Sox currently have in their system if you want to compare. I believe Buchholz like Hughes is nothing but a huge Yankee and Red Sox hype and nothing more.
  15. I'll take that trade. That would mean the Brewers get to bring up Salome and have him DH next year instead of hoping he improves defensively between now and the beginning of next year.
  16. That is not a fair deal at all. Salome and Iribarren for Sanchez? No that is not a fair deal at all. Sanchez is nothing special and Iribarren should be enough to get him Salome wouldn't be needed in order to get someone the Pirates are trying to dump. Salome is not the best catcher in the Brewers system. Lucroy is better defensively and by a wide wide wide margin. Offensively Lucroy is closing the gap between him and Salome. Lucroy is the best catcher in the Brewers system and if Salome can't hack it at catcher the only other position he could play is DH and since there is no DH in the NL he would have to be traded to an AL team which would limit his value. Salome is not the best catching prospect in the Brewers organization. I would put Salome as the 3rd best catching prospect in the Brewers system.
  17. I don't believe the Yankees really like Kennedy or he would be up with their team right now. Swisher has been nice for them but he was the backup plan incase they didn't get Teixeira. Right now he is just trade bait and with the Yankees having an uncertain OF in 2010 I'm not 100% sure they wouldn't take on Wells. Next year Damon will be gone and Nady is probably done I don't see the Yankees bringing back Matsui next year so the Yankees will need another OF. Wells makes sense for them since they would have a potential OF of Melky, Jackson, Swisher, Gardner. I don't see any FA the Yankees could pick up next year other than Holliday or Cameron and if they take Cameron Jackson would more than likely start the year in the minors then. Plus Lucroy does change it. The cost of having Lucroy is basically zero for the Yankees. If Lucroy has plus defense and is just average offensively his value for his first three years should be that of Wells's contract. Maybe the Yankees would need another prospect thrown in for losing Kennedy or I was thinking of adding Hardy into the deal. If Hardy would be added into the deal the Yankees would be able to move Aroid to DH and have either Jeter or Hardy play 3B. I don't see the Yankees keeping Matsui and Damon next year because both are DH's right now and the Yankees already have two DH's in Posada and Rodriguez. The Yankees need to add an OF next year which one is going to cost in the $20m a year range. The Yankees won't start the year with Melky, Jackson, and Gardner as their starting 3 OF's. So the Yankees do need an OF and Wells makes sense for them. Lucroy's future value should equal that of what Wells's contract is and if you add in another marginal prospect for the Yankees it should equal that of what Kennedy would have equaled. Someone like an Anundsen or Wooten would be enough to get the value back that was lost from Kennedy.
  18. Only place I see a FA in the 11 roster would be in the bullpen and maybe a starter. With all of those players I don't see them being anything worse than everyday starters. There are some All Star quality players in there. That is also not taking into account Green will be in AAA or traded for another piece. The Brewers have a lot of pieces coming up in the minor league system that can be traded for more definite pieces. This is also not taking into account Lawrie, Scarpetta, and Ordorizzi. Two of those three should be something special. Lawrie will probably be up in 11 if Weeks is traded or if Weeks is not able to stay healthy which is very possible. The Brewers are set up much like the Twins were and are. I like that and I believe the Brewers can keep on making runs at the playoffs every year depending on where the talent is. The only concern for the Brewers is replacing Fielder.
  19. I swear you never read whole posts you just skim over things and look at what you want to see. If you read the whole post you would have noticed I said it wasn't sure the Yankees would do that trade. Plus the Yankees are also getting Lucroy in the deal so I know for sure you just glanced over it and made an assumption about the trade. Reading more than two or three lines helps a lot in knowing what the poster is talking about.
  20. Not sure about free but the NBA has this up to watch the NBA Summer League.
  21. Define a legitimate stud prospect. I don't see Lawrie or Escobar being traded at all. Dykstra is a legitimate prospect not a stud but a legitimate prospect. Brewer is a toolsy prospect and Butler could be a #2 or #3 type pitcher. There is value in number of prospects over one or two stud prospects. Escobar won't be traded Melvin won't trade him so I just forget about Escobar because it is not going to happen so there is no need to even think about Escobar or Lawrie. Gamel just doesn't fit with the Blue Jays especially with Rolen there. Green makes more sense since it will be about 2 or 3 years before he would be up. Brewer would be up in about 2 or 3 years also 4 years at the most. Brewer projects to be a better hitter than Escobar at least to me he does power wise. Dykstra could be a stud. I would expect Periard or Odorizzi would need to be added in that deal. With those two possible the Jays would be getting a toolsy player in Brewer, legitimate prospect in Dykstra, a #2 or #3 type pitcher in Butler, their future 3B in Green, and a #1 or #2 in Periard or Ordorizzi. The Jays would also get Dillard who would be a serviceable and cheap #5 starter. At worst Dillard would be a good bullpen guy. I could also see the Brewers taking on Wells IF the Jays would take on Suppan for the next two years. The Brewers would still be losing financially with Wells and the talent in return would be a little less than what the Jays would be expecting for Halladay alone. I don't see the Brewers taking on all that salary though unless there would be a three team deal that sent Wells to the Yankees, Mets, or ???. I wonder if a trade like this would be possible: Brewers trade: Green, Braddock/Periard/Ordorizzi, Dykstra, Lucroy, and Butler Receive: Halladay and Swisher Blue Jays trade: Roy Halladay and Vernon Wells Receive: Green, Braddock/Periard/Ordorizzi, Dykstra, Butler, and Kennedy Yankees trade: Nick Swisher and Ian Kennedy Receive: Wells and Lucroy Salary relief for the Jays and a lot of prospects, Yankees get a center fielder finally and their future catcher, and the Brewers receive Hallady and a replacement for Hart and a replacement for Cameron next year. I'm not sure the Yankees would do this though but they are the only team that would be able to take on Wells salary other than the Red Sox and the Mets. The Mets may need Wells more than the Yankees do though but that is a really expensive proposal for the Mets though with Beltran already in CF but I'm not sure Beltran will be back anytime soon this year.
  22. Only one profiles as a starter? Four out of the five profile as a starter. Brewer is a work in progress but if the Jays are shedding money they can wait on him. Green would be their starting 3B once Rolen is done and Dykstra could play CF or 2B for them. Butler would be in their rotation by the end of this year or the start of next year while Dillard would be in their rotation as soon as he was traded to them. He would also be a good bullpen guy or a cheap #5 starter for them. Having Dillard being your #5 at a cheap price is better than signing a Looper or Suppan to be your #5 starter. There is a lot of value in the players I suggested but I don't think it would get done though. There is something missing in my trade I just can't find what I am missing it is either another starter or another bat and I'm not sure on that. I'm just leaving Escobar out of every trade thought because I know Escobar is off the table and won't be traded unless Hardy is signed long term and I doubt that is going to happen.
  23. I wonder if the Jays are in complete rebuild mode if someone like Brewer would be interesting for them. He wouldn't be the main player in the deal but he would be an interesting piece to put in there. Brewer definitely has the talent and has probably more pop in his bat than Escobar does though. I was thinking of this trade: SS Brent Brewer 3B Taylor Green P Josh Butler, and Tim Dillard 2B Cutter Dykstra Not a real over powering offer but one with a lot of potential and a pitcher who could start right now for the Jays. Dillard is only in there because he can come in and start right now for the Jays think of Dillard as Zack Jackson last year for the Indians. This probably is not enough to get Halladay and I believe this trade starts with Escobar and if it does I believe all talks will be off. I don't see Melvin trading away Escobar unless somehow the Brewers are able to sign Hardy long term.
  24. I expect one of Kendall or Cameron to be back next year and I'm going to go with Cameron coming back for next year if the price is right. Counsell may or may not retire and he wouldn't be bad utility player even at his age I expect him to be back also next year depending on the price though. 2011 is the year of the next wave of prospects IMHO. With Lucroy, Green, Cain, and Braddock. I am probably missing some others like Schafer, Periard, and Rogers. 2011 maybe to early to be looking at Lawrie in the bigs but he should be knocking very loudly at AAA or AA in 2011. I could see Lawrie skipping AAA and going straight to the big league club not every player has to make a stop at every level of the minor league circuit. 2011 roster will probably look something like this: OF: Cain, Braun, Schafer, Heether, and Gillespie IF: Fielder, Weeks, Escobar, Gamel, and McGehee C: Salome and Lucroy SP: Gallardo, Parra, Braddock, Bush, Arnett/Perriard/Butler/Rogers RP: Villanueva, McClung, DiFelice, Stetter, Rogers and ???? The hardest part is filling out the bullpen. I believe the Brewers are going to hold onto Prince untill he is a free agent and then see where things go from there. Melvin would trade Prince but I don't think the right package will come along for Melvin to make that trade. Maybe it does but I would expect Melvin would be looking at a return the Rangers got for Teixeira or the one the Marlins got for Cabrera. The next wave of prospects in 2011 will have some good pitching in it. There are some players who could be real stars or real duds. I like Schafer and Cain a lot I believe they both could play CF (defensively right now more so Cain than Schafer though if Cain wasn't hurt) right now. What is surprising to see is that in the next 2-4 years we will see some good to great pitching prospects coming through the system. Braddock could be a September call up for the bullpen but that is a very long shot of happening though. Even in 2011 the rotation could be even better with Periard, Butler, and Arnett. Suppan's contract has a buyout of $2M in 2011 so I'm guessing the Brewers will do that. In 2012 you could have another wave of pitching prospects with Scarpetta and Odorizzi all these players and I haven't even said Jeffress who could also be in the bigs by 2011 or 2012 depending on if he cleans up his act in the minors. There are quality bats and pitchers in the minors for the Brewers they may not be Brauns, Fielders, or Gallardos but some of them have major league All Star talent. I say keep Prince untill he becomes a free agent unless a can't miss trade comes otherwise I would just keep Fielder and build with Braun, Fielder, and Gallardo. You have to see how far those three can take you. I would rather be the Twins than the Marlins btw when trading talent or not trading it.
