  1. Keith Law now has his top 100 prospects up today 1-25 are free but 26-100 are insider only. Could anyone who has access to ESPN insider post where any of the Brewers players rated on this?

  3. Keith Law put up his top 5 prospects by teams today. Milwaukee Brewers 1. Alcides Escobar, SS 2. Jeremy Jeffress, RHP 3. Angel Salome, C 4. Mat Gamel, 3B 5. Brett Lawrie, C/2B
  4. Born in August and I hate winter and my favorite seasons are spring and fall. I hate the wild swings in temperature in summer and winter.
  5. You do know Fielder can be traded if it does or doesn't go through right? This has no bearing on if Fielder could be traded or not if anything it makes it a little bit more attractive to trade him since he would more than likely get more in arbitration next year than what is being predicted to be his salary.
  6. Melvin confirms Fielder talks. Haudricourt gets confirmation from Melvin that the Brewers are trying to get a multiyear deal done.
  7. According to Haudricourt the Brewers maybe working on a multi year deal with Fielder. According to the article Haudricourt speculates that it could be a 2 year $18-20 million deal. I'm not sure I really like the numbers of this deal especially if this deal doesn't buy out at least one year of free agency. This just doesn't make sense for the Brewers why not get at least one year of free agency?
  8. I don't agree with Keith Law's placement of the Cardinals in the top 5. I don't have ESPN insider so if anyone who does have ESPN insider could you post where the Brewers landed in this. Thanks in advance for anyone who posts it. I agree with the Rangers, Rays, and Braves. Keith Law's 2009 Organizational Rankings.

  11. What about Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez? If he retires today would he be a hall of famer? Rodriguez's career line. G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB SO SB CS AVG OBP SLG OPS Total 2267 8645 1253 2605 524 48 295 1217 469 1288 124 59 .301 .339 .475 .814 Rodriguez has to be one of the best catchers since Bench when you compare his defense and his offense to other players at his position. There are not that many catchers out there that have done what Rodriguez has done in his career. Offensively it is less than Piazza in home runs but Pudge has a better average than Piazza and a better OBP I believe. If Rodriguez, Thomas, and Griffey all retire at the same time that is going to be one of the best Hall of Fame inductees in a long time. Not to mention when you think of the 90's Griffey and Thomas are the two main players that come to mind but you can't forget about Pudge who was probably the best catcher in terms of offense and defense in the 90's and even into the early 2000's.
  12. I hate texting and the only time when I do text someone is when I can't explain something to them over the phone or if I can't reach them and I don't feel like leaving a voicemail message.
  13. Odom has been playing really bad this year. Worse than what RJ has been playing. In salary both are a wash but RJ is for a longer period. The Lakers do need a wing player who can free up Kobe from time to time. RJ would be the only player available for the Lakers to trade. Trading Odom for RJ would be a win for the Lakers. Odom really has fallen this year in nearly all of his stats right now he is coming off of the bench. RJ would be an upgrade over Odom this year and I doubt the Lakers would bring Odom back next year so he would be a free agent anyways. This helps the Bucks in salary cap relief for next year and the Bucks would be able to sign Sessions to a longer deal.
  14. Hmmm Haudicourt has it at $8 and $6 million. While the Capital Times has it at $7 and $10 million. From the Capital Times article. "In the meantime, his salary will increase dramatically through arbitration from the $670,000 he made last year. Boras is expected to ask for as much as $10 million -- the record amount awarded Phillies slugger Ryan Howard a year ago -- for 2009 when the sides exchange offers Tuesday, with the Brewers countering at $7 million or more. The sides will have roughly five weeks to reach a compromise before an arbitrator would pick one of those options. (For what it's worth, Melvin isn't forecasting a grudge match in negotiations. "I don't anticipate a confrontation with Boras," he said, adding, "I know you find that hard to believe.")"
  15. Mulder on a minor league deal wouldn't be a bad option for depth. He probably won't be ready for the first month of the season. Mulder wouldn't be bad as a depth option for the Brewers.
  16. A friend of mine sent me these in an e-mail awhile back. Customer: "I can't get online." Tech Support: "Can you be more specific?" Customer: "It says, 'Bad username/password'." Tech Support: "What is your username?" Customer: "Are you sure that the Internet isn't closed for the night?" Woman 1: "What is that little trash can on the screen?" Woman 2: "My son says that is call the 'recycle bin'. He tells me when I don't want a Word document anymore and I delete it, it really goes in there." Woman 1: "Why in the recycle thingy? Can't you just erase it?" Woman 2: "Oh no, Word wouldn't work for very long if I did that, I would run out of blank pages." Woman 1: "Why?" Woman 2: "Because it cleans the words off the pages, then sends the blank sheets back to Word so they can be used again. That's why it's called the recycle bin." Those are my favorites. He got them from this site.
  17. Baseball America's top 10 1. Alcides Escobar, ss 2. Mat Gamel, 3b 3. Brett Lawrie, c/3b 4. Jeremy Jeffress, rhp 5. Angel Salome, c 6. Lorenzo Cain, of 7. Cutter Dykstra, of 8. Taylor Green 3b 9. Cole Gillespie, of 10. Jonathan Lucroy, c Brewerfan.net Fan Poll Top Ten 1. Mat Gamel - 3B 2. Alcides Escobar - SS 3. Jeremy Jeffress - RHP 4. Angel Salome - C 5. Taylor Green - 3B 6. Brett Lawrie - C 7. Jonathan Lucroy - C 8. Lorenzo Cain - OF 9. Cole Gillespie - OF 10. Jake Odorizzi - RHP It is interesting looking at the two. Cole Gillespie is the only player that is in the same spot from both.
  18. From the Capital Times Melvin had this to say about Sheets and it can be found about 1/4 the way down in the article. "Melvin said that the door remains open for Sheets -- their longtime but oft-injured ace, who now is a free agent -- and that they remain on good terms, recently spending time together at the general managers' meetings in Las Vegas. But in the same breath, he acknowledged Sheets is expected to head in a different direction; the Mets and Rangers have been cited as interested parties."
  19. I don't suggest doing it online especially if you have questions and you need to talk to someone about what your money is being invested in. I suggest meeting with someone who is local where you can ask questions if you have any on the investments that you are putting your money into. Plus most investment companies have websites that you can goto and check what your portfolio is doing and I believe you can make changes to your investment.
  20. RJ could be traded to the Suns and Lakers come to mind. Odom hasn't been good this year for the Lakers and it is his contract year. I don't see RJ being traded though. Redd is a possibility though and I wouldn't mind seeing Redd being traded to New Orleans. I just don't see who the Bucks could trade for to the Hornets. Peja is the only player that matches up salary wise.
  21. I'm not sure there is a topic on this and I couldn't find one in the search. If the Brewers lose Sheets to the Mets, Phillies, or any other team they will probably get a 2nd round pick plus a comp pick for Sheets. So in the end they would have 2 2nd round picks and 2 comp picks and if anyone signs Shouse they would get another 2nd round pick. I think Sheets was rated higher than Ibanez and the Brewers would get the Phillies 1st round pick if the Phillies sign Sheets? Would it make sense for the Brewers to sign Oliver Perez? The Brewers would lose their 1st round pick to the Mets. Will this be that bad of a problem? Weighing the positive and negatives of the Brewers losing that first round pick would be crucial. First you would have to look at will Perez be as good as the 1st rounder we would be losing. Will the compensation picks and 2nd round picks we would be getting be enough for the loss of the 1st round pick. I know the NFL and MLB are two different beasts but in the NFL you see teams from time to time trade their late 1st round pick for a 2nd round pick. This is somewhat what the Brewers are doing with signing a Type A free agent. The Brewers are already getting at least 1 2nd round pick and a compensation pick. If Sheets signs else where the Brewers will be getting a 2nd 2nd round pick and a compensation pick.
  22. Bah just glanced over it and didn't see his name.
  23. What does that make Manny Parra, Jason Kendall, and others not there? Are they big babies also?
  24. As long as a trade doesn't involve Cain, Escobar, Lucroy, Gamel, or Jeffress I wouldn't mind a trade for Verlander. He would be a nice #2 to go behind Gallardo for the next 3 years. I believe this will be Verlander's 3rd year this season?
  25. Not enough information to judge if the Brewers will or will not make it to the playoffs. For all we know someone on a team could get injured and that team spirals out of the playoff picture. To many variables to even say if they will or will not. The Brewers should be above .500 and will be competitive if that is enough to make the playoffs I don't know. Last year the Twins lost Santana and almost made the playoffs last year. At the beginning of the season the Twins were not even expected to be a playoff contending team.
