  1. T Bone, Have a conversation with a UW-Madison Financial Aid Advisor. It's their job to know this stuff. No one on this board knows your situation well enough to give you super good advice.
  2. depending on how you count moving in and out of the residence halls at college, this weekend will be either my 18th or 22nd move by at age 26.
  3. Aren't players only supposed to take drugs that are prescribed by team doctors to avoid stuff like this?
  4. there have been racing sausage giveaways the last two years, I believe. I have the italian from one of the last two years - it's sort of a bobble, with Chevrolet on the front of the base and Brewers on the back. Klements is on the back of the sausage's shirt.
  5. they're next to the left field entrance, near the escalators
  6. So, why don't you just live in Wauwatosa? Lots of nice places there. Commuting to tosa from any suburb is likely to get you stuck in a lot of traffic. For the Wauwatosa/Shorewood/suburbs of Milwaukee, Craigslist is a pretty reliable source. I'm moving into a Shorewood flat this weekend that I found on Craigslist.
  7. according to our campus health center, vomiting and diarrhea are possible symptoms, but aches and fever are the telltale signs. Get it checked out, pitchleague.
  8. There are basically 2 residence halls for new students at UWM - Sandburg Halls (the towers) and RiverView, which isn't currently on the campus tour. In Sandburg, you really don't have a choice of your tower. Lots of new students choose East (the one with kitchens and AC) but almost all of the spots in that tower go to returning students. North, South, and West are layed out exactly the same - they just have a different height. Over 2700 people live in Sandburg, so it's all hustle and bustle all the time. RiverView is newer - opened in January 2008. All the rooms are the same (doubles), you have less people to share each bathroom (4), and every suite is individually climate controlled. Also has it's own cafeteria and convenience store. It's about 1.75 miles from campus, but there is a shuttle system that runs at least every 15 minutes during classes, and it takes 7 minutes to get from RiverView to campus. Only 475 people live in RiverView, so you actually have a chance to get to know everyone in your building. In fall 2010 there will be a new residence hall - Cambridge Commons - directly across the river from RiverView. Same layout, about 700 students, 550 of which will be first years. More info is on the website: www.universityhousing.uwm.edu And yes, I work for University Housing, so this is the view of the staff, not someone that's lived there.
  9. TBONE - I work in University Housing at UWM, and my best advice would be to go with a random roommate. You really have just as much chance getting along with him as with some guy you find on facebook. 9 times out of 10 random roommates work out. Brewdude15 - If you're got questions about UWM that you'd like a staff member's perspective on, let me know.
  10. I received this invite on facebook. Although I don't know this woman, she works for my department and it's a great cause. We all know that BFnetters are great at online voting! Please go to this website, go to page 2, and vote for Katie R. Here is her story: On March 24, 2008 I got news that changed my life; that was the day I heard the words "you have breast cancer". At first I thought there was some sort of mistake, I had a lump removed but I was only 20 years old. I thought I was too young for breast cancer. But I was wrong. I had stage II invasive ductal carcinoma. After I came to terms with the diagnosis I decided to be as proactive as I could and beat this disease. I had a unilateral mastectomy 2 months after my diagnoses, just enough time for me to finish my junior year of college. As soon as I was healing from my surgery I started chemotherapy. I spent my summer vacation doing 6 round of TAC three weeks apart. This is a very powerful combination but I wanted to do whatever I could to beat this disease. I started school in the fall and finished chemo. A year after my diagnosis I have completed a unilateral mastectomy, 6 rounds of chemotherapy, and breast reconstruction. Something I thought I would never have had to deal with at the age of 21. Many people do not know that 11,000 young women a year will be diagnosed with breast cancer so spreading the message of early detection in young women is something that I have become passionate about. I have participated in many fundraisers for cancer research and will be the honorary chair for Relay for Life 2009 in Walworth County. I hope to do more work to help educate young women about their breasts and how to be proactive with their health. Not a day goes by that I don't think about breast cancer and I hope and pray for the day when there will be a cure. By being the honorary bat girl would help me to spread the message for young women to start doing breast self exams and be aware that breast cancer can affect all people at any age. I have been a Brewers fan my whole life and they were even more special to me during my treatment. I had tickets to a couple of the games while I was going through treatment so it pushed me get better and feel well after treatments so I could go and see the Brewers play. In a way the Brewers helped me regain my strength and gave me something to cheer about during a time when I felt like I had nothing to cheer for.. If you'd like to get in touch with Katie or personally offer your support, here's her facebook effort to get out the vote.
  11. I'm pretty sure there are signs on the pressbox prohibiting that strategy.
  12. I've done the Dew Deck before....I think I had like 10 of those cookies.
  13. There are other suggestions in the Busch Stadium discussion in the off topic forum.
  14. if you look at her face though, her cheek bones are much more pronounced now. Unless that's one crazy makeup trick.
  15. she's got a lot more makeup, her hair is blown out, and she appears to have lost a decent amount of weight. I'd guess 10-15 pounds, which would be a lot on her frame.
  16. If you want to hang out on Brady Street (boutiques, coffee shops, etc) you could walk over to Karma (near Ogden & Van Buren) to catch the shuttle to the game. They leave 1 hour before. This suggestion could work with a lot of bars that have shuttles....BBC on the Eastside, most of the Bluemound bars, Zims/Ouzo Cafe....I'm sure others could provide ideas. You could do the Miller Brewery tour - it's free, includes 3 free beers, and is only a few miles from the park.
  17. 2 more weeks and i'm done with graduate school. Somehow, that makes it easier to procrastinate on my assignments.
  18. jlau's advice echoes what i've read in most books. If you can make more than the interest you're paying on your mortgage by investing the money somewhere else, go with the mortgage. As we've seen in recent times, even real estate isn't a guaranteed investment. In my family's experience, financial counselors will tell you to do what's best for you - you're paying them a fee anyway, so they don't always have something to gain by recommending certain types of investments for you. Did you say this would be a second house? That's a whole other can of worms as far as taxes go. I'd really recommend ponying up the cash to speak with a professional.
  19. I like the idea about gathering information about other clubs/cities for Brewers-related road trips. I have to admit though, that I very very rarely read the main page unless I have insomnia. I've always gone straight to the forums to find what I need. I'm just a run-of-the-mill fan though - not a stat head or overly interested in the minor leagues.
  20. updated again. I think Cameron keeps throwing new songs out there, and it's hard to keep up.
  21. I updated my previous post here: link You're all right, lots of batters seem to be going back to their old songs. I'm a nerd, so I will continue to update this. I guess I'm not the only nerd, because Jordan at Brew Crew Ball also posted my list http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif link
  22. Ok, here's the list I have, in no particular order. I also include the "filler" music. This makes for a great CD to listen to on the way to games. I will continue to update throughout the season. I still need a few starting pitchers that didn't pitch on this homestand yet. Thank you, iPhone and Shazaam, for making this so much easier this year. 23. Thanks Pedro! PM Sent.
