  1. FSN does do the peripheral stuff well. If they could only handle actual game play the same way it would be great. I will say this about BA. He's getting better. I've ripped him (deservedly so IMHO) many times over the last year and a half and I've ripped the Brewers for hiring an inexperienced play by play guy (a little minor league bb experience and most recently seen on the Golf Channel and on the Spurs sidelines). But he has shown signs of improvement this year. Some of that is the better chemistry between him and Schroeder. I give him props for working hard and getting better.
  2. That is incredibly insensitive to the fans
  3. I was at the Gallardo debut. It was a mix of fans coming to see him and fans coming to boo Bonds.
  4. C.C. will be doing interviews at 6:00 per TH.
  5. Manny will be getting a nice break the next two weeks anyway. He'll start just one game this week and then have most of next week off. If we allow Sheets to stay on his regular day he will pitch Wednesday and Manny gets bumped to Thursday. This allows us to split up our lefties. It also allows us to have C.C. and Ben pitch the last two games of the St. Louis series and lines it up for C.C./Ben/Manny to start the first 3 games of the Cubs series.
  6. Mark is only part of an ownership group, not the sole owner. And while they all obviously have money they bought into the team as an investment. And while some owners are willing to take some year to year losses knowing they will recoup it all when they eventually sell the team Mark has made it clear that his group is looking for a return on their investment every year. They have done a great job of increasing payroll as revenue has increased but at some point revenue will reach a plateau. We are selling over 35,000 seats per game. There is room to go up, but not much. Ticket prices can go up but not much. We are locked into our radio and TV deals until after the 2012 season. We will be getting less in revenue sharing as our own revenue increases. So while we may see an increase in a payroll the next year or two we will always have to make very careful financial decisions.
  7. Today would be the deadline day I agree. Getting 2 starts out of him before the break is big. It will be nice to know it's over one way or another.
  8. The OBP Gods will be happy about Braun http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  9. Anyone we trade for has to be clearly better than Bush and McClung. And, as surprising as it is, they have both pitched pretty well. I'd love to upgrade one or both of them but only if it is a clear upgrade.
  10. I agree. Call their bluff. Melvin doesn't have a lot of of experience being a "buyer". Except for Linebrink last year. And he did end up bidding against himself for ARod a few years ago. Don't screw this up Doug.
  11. That can't be it, imo. I think it's more likely they are trying to make it known what they are offering so that other teams have to make their best offers now and Cleveland can't drag this out till the end of July. Maybe. But Cleveland can easily tell other teams what we are offering. We don't have to negotiate through the media. Just seems weird that none of the other teams are going public, just us.
  12. I'm surprised Melvin has been so candid about all this. It's not like him leaking out who we are offering. None of the other teams have done this, it's all speculation and yet Melvin has talked quite a bit with Haudricourt. It's almost as if they are trying to gauge fan reaction before pulling the trigger.
  13. Attanasio is in town this weekend, I'm sure he would love for a deal to be announced while he's still here so he could get some good p.r. face time on TV. He has to make up the the pathetic pimping of his son's band at Summerfest. Not one bad interview, but two (Pregame show and during the game).
  14. Harden hasn't pitched a full season since 2004 so he's a risk. He left his last start with what they called "kind of a dead arm".
  15. I'm to the point where I don't care if we get him or not. We've put more than a fair offer on the table. If another team wants to outbid us (at least in Cleveland's mind), they can have him.
  16. I'm glad we have two all sports stations around here but most of the time they are run like high school A/V departments.
  17. I love Holliday but unfortunately his contract situation would make it difficult to keep him.
  18. Gamel at third, Escobar at short, Hardy at second, LaPorta at first. Goodbye Fielder, Weeks, Hall.
  19. Runners at second and third (winning run at second). Why don't you walk the batter to set up the force at home?
  20. You obviously never explained OBP to her, otherwise she wouldn't have wasted her time.
  21. Sheets will be fully rested for the AS game, he will have last pitched 5 days before. If he goes a couple of innings he should be fine to start 3 days later in San Francisco.
  22. Well that's it, if Braun is an all-star I am not watching the game. I won't be able to keep that OBP out of my head. %#*$!%!.
