  1. This sucks. Didn't need this bad news. Why does Hart always seem to get hurt right before the season?
  2. George Kottaras was the odd man out because of this deal. Poor George.
  3. The news now is that they put the WHC on ADR to push him as the top Mexican babyface. So, I wouldn't be surprised to see him get a run with it to get him over. Apparently they no longer believe in Mysterio and Sin Cara, which isn't surprising, and they wanna push ADR more than any Mexican star has been before. With this news, I could see him holding the title into WM. Also, the title change was apparently supposed to happen on Raw and not SD, but ADR couldn't be there for personal reasons. Also, I just read that they might do a swerve and have Punk win at the Rumble, and The Rock will then win the EC match. I think this would be a better idea. Punk beating Rock would be good for him, and then Rock can still get the title before WM. Still won't believe it until I see it though. Just seems like a way of getting people to believe Punk could win.
  4. They wouldn't do a title change just to get ratings. The Rock being on the show is enough. I don't think they even care much about SmackDown ratings honestly. The only reason they announced the news is so fans would hear it from them and not get it leaked from other wrestling sites. I doubt it even improves ratings much anyway if people already know he'll win.
  5. Yeah, there's no way Rock doesn't win. I just hope that some other surprising things do down. ADR winning the WHC at the SD taping last night was pretty surprising, so that's a good start.
  6. I'm hoping Vince and the writers prove me wrong and go with a Rock vs. Punk match at WrestleMania where Punk wins the title back from Rock. That would leave the Rumble open to be won by someone else. It would be interesting if Ryback won and challenged for the WHC. That would keep his push going in a big way, and would also avoid having to see an Orton vs. Sheamus match at WM. Obviously something with Ziggler is preferable, but it seems like they might be having him wait longer to cash in. The predictable top 4 matches though are looking to be Rock vs Cena II for the WWE Title, HHH vs Lesnar II, Taker vs Punk, and Sheamus vs Orton for the WHC.
  7. Michael Olmsted intrigues me as a possibility for the last spot in the pen. That's assuming Kintzler is a relative lock, which it seems like he may be. If he's not, then there's 2 spots obviously. Doesn't seem like anyone else will be signed, but never know if some bargains come about late in the offseason here.
  8. Hate the regular one. If anything it should have a gold front if they are going that route. Love the retro one though. There are a lot of cool ones in there though.
  9. Just thought I'd throw this in here, because it involves Lohse. But I still laugh at how stupid Bowden is. Apparently he's ignoring the fact that we are basically maxed out on payroll already. Either that, or he just flat out doesn't know. Some, "Insider". The price on Lohse isn't going to come down. http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/the-gms-office/post?id=5652
  10. Pretty obvious precursor to a Kubel trade. If Upton was going he would've gotten traded already. Rumors are it's Kubel they are trying to deal.
  11. For 1 year, $2 million. The funniest part is that they plan on using him as their closer. This will be a spectacular failure. Too bad the Astros are no longer in this division. http://mlbbuzz.yardbarker.com/blog/mlbbuzz/article/details_of_veras_contract_with_astros/12490195?new_post=true
  12. No Melvin already said he'll be in the pen to start, and I don't know why everyone thinks having a LHP in the rotation is a requirement. I'd much rather see both Peralta and Rogers in the rotation than Narveson.
  13. Yeah, I agree with this. He's probably hoping to just stay afloat until midseason, and then pick-up a starter for the stretch run.
  14. I really like this signing. Gorzelanny can work as a LOGGY, but also has the versatility to work against RHH, and as a long-man or starter. He was a guy I was hoping Melvin would target. Now I'd prefer to get Rauch, Frasor, or Farnsworth, and then I'd like the look of the pen a lot better. One starter left who I think could be a possibility on a one-year deal is Brett Myers. I'd kick the tires on him too.
  15. They are both only under contract for 2013, so I wouldn't call it a great haul. The Mariners just love their DHs. Piling them up. Both teams get what they want though, so it works out well.
  16. Anyone see the Live SmackDown tonight? I was hoping after TLC and Raw last night that AJ would end up with Dolph and that Langston would end up being his bodyguard/enforcer. Looks like that's what is happening. I love it. This definitely makes Dolph a legit main-eventer. I think he'll win the WHC any day now.
  17. JIM BOWDEN ‏@JimBowdenESPNxm Doug Melvin just told us they have interest in Jon Rauch, Kyle Farnsworth, Mike Gonzalez and Jason Frasor #SXM
  18. TLC was awesome in my opinion. One of the best PPVs of the year. The TLC match made it worth watching alone. The Shield looked awesome. Major props to Rollins for taking that huge bump at the end. I also enjoyed the Cena/Ziggler match. The Show/Sheamus match was pretty good too, but 3 matches is enough for them. I really hope that they go with the angle that AJ and Ziggler have been together this whole time. I think that's where this needs they to go with that storyline. Fully separate Dolph from Vickie.
  19. Saunders really accomplishes nothing for us. I'd rather just give the young guys those innings. The only way it makes sense to sign a starter is if it's a solid #2 or #3 type guy. Saunders isn't that.
  20. http://i48.tinypic.com/195u29.jpg
  21. Agreed. I'm wondering what the deal looks like. I saw $2.5M guaranteed with possible additional $2.5M in incentives.
  22. Well, this is exactly why Melvin is staying out of the free agent market. Can't afford these prices. Not worth it.
  23. No need to worry about Lohse or any other remaining top FA pitcher coming here. They've priced themselves out of our range, by far. Lohse and Jackson should be doing cartwheels after seeing the deals Dempster and Sanchez just got.
  24. Yes, but that offense is putrid. They are the anti-Brewers. I know that. I was just saying their rotation may arguably end up being better.
  25. Keep in mind we also have a really weak bullpen currently. We have Axford, who struggled mightily last year as closer. Henderson as a setup man who is still very unproven. Then we have the also unproven Kintzler, slightly better version of Loe in Badenhop, and then one of the starting options as a long man. 2 spots are open for likely two other inexperienced pitchers if no one is signed. The bullpen is probably more troubling than the starting rotation, but both are a concern. I'd feel a lot better if we at least added a few experienced arms to the bullpen, and at least somewhat solidified that area of the club. Because if we are going with the young rotation, we'll need to lean heavily on the pen. With the way it's currently constructed, that could be a disaster as well.
