  1. I think olt is very good and if Texas isn't as high on him as they were and they made him available I would be stoked if the brewers went for him, but the debate is would you trade segura for olt. The crew NEEDS segura more then olt. I wouldn't be surprised if Texas looks at olt as expendable since they have beltre until 2015 with a vesting option for 2016 and they have joey Gallo who is essentially olt with more power.
  2. i agree completly!!! they got a few very good pieces back that will contribute for years for much cheaper then what they would have had to spend. marisnick is a top prospet, escobar is a quality shortstop(even though he's a jerk), hechavarria will take over at short when escobar leaves in FA after this season, nicolino and desclafani had very good numbers in low-a this season, mathis is a decent back up for their rookie catcher brantly, and alvarez is a decent 4 or 5 starter. its not great right now but they got cost controlled pieces for the future. over reacting. edit-miami also has 2 years (14/15) of team options for escobar for only 5 mil each year.
  3. Id pass on nolasco. Hes not worth the 11.5 m he makes next year.
  4. Which is funny because there was "no chance" Texas was going to include olt in a trade for greinke. I bet they are rethinking that one. I'm glad it worked out how it did. SEGURA FTW!!!!!
  5. I don't think this deal is all that bad for Miami. Sure, they probably could have done better for Johnson but they are getting some solid guys for a couple really bad contracts.
  6. Power hitting Corner infielders are pretty easy to come across. Quality shortstops are not. No brainer.
  7. NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!!!!
  8. Whenever I think about Johnny the first thing that pops in my head is then rock said he looks like hes running with a refrigerator strapped to his back going from 2nd to 3rd. I'm glad our catching situation has improved.
  9. Hmmmmm.......... a 50-60th ranked prospect for a 5-10th ranked prospect. I don't see why they wouldn't do that. SERIOUSLY GUYS- no one we have gets the d-backs 3rd best pitching prospect, let alone their best.
  10. If fiers/Rogers/prince gets bauer someone really hates this kid. That offer doesnt even get a conversation going. They are very deep at starting pitchers, they would be looking for position players and Im sure they could do better then scooter/our best 3b prospect/prince/ and anyone else We could offer. I could actually see the cubs getting him with a package of vitters/jackson/ and one more piece. Bauers ceiling is very high.
  11. it would be nice but i HIGHLY doubt we have what it would take. if we do have enough, it would cripple our system worse then it already is.
  12. dont get me wrong- i love the idea of having 2 starter quality catchers but i think you have to consider including maldy in a trade if you can get a hellickson type. i want gamel to be a success (i've spent quite a bit on gamel auto'd memorabilia) and if he did it in milwaukee that'd be even better but he's expendable. if you could get alex cobb for either i think you do it.
  13. Word is the rays are looking to trade pitching. What do you think We can get for gamel and maldonado? Catching and 1B are their main needs.
  14. billingsley would be the only one i'd be interested in. his elbow problem scares me though. his contract is very reasonable- 11m in 2013/12m 2014/ 14m option for 2015. he'll only be 30 when that contract is done.
  15. i see what you did there......clever boy
  16. i'd take a look at rich rundles, kanekoa texeria, and daniel mccutchen. they may be able to contribute to the pen. i'm sure there is a couple passable bench bats in there as well.
  17. i dont really have a problem with the dh but i'd rather it not be used. it's kinda like when you were a kid playing football and your older cousin was always all time quarterback. are they able to dh for another position? i never thought about that. i like the idea of having the pitcher hit but having a designated runner though. vote- no dh
  18. i wont be sad to see parra leave but i could definatly see him producing in someone elses pen.
  19. jackson wont cost a pick
  20. I wouldnt give hart for any of them but id give gamel probably for any of them.
  21. harens option was declined
  22. A minor league bullpen arm doesn't hurt anything. Melvin is just hoping to get lucky here. Unless he takes up a 40man spot. Then it makes no sense.
  23. The royals also cut Tommy hottovy. He's a lefty that put up good numbers in triple a last season. Id look into him before jeffress.
  24. If you read one more post up you would know.
