  1. Really needed a cheap hit like that. C'mon guys. Let's go.
  2. Biggest concern for me going into any playoff series, especially with the collapse of Harrison, was Miz not being Miz even once.
  3. Well, that's not a great 0-run first...but it's a 0-run first.
  4. Brewers fans are incredibly squeamish. It's funny because a lot of the same people are overly bullish on the Packers every single year. There is so much handwringing and hesitation when it comes to the Brewers. It's not like we're on the team.
  5. I would go SRO if everything was available to me. Plenty of good sightlines. If it were me, I'd get in a bit early, nothing crazy necessary, and find a spot along one of those tables facing the field. Can even get one field level, park there and slowly nurse soda/beer all night so it looks like you need the table, and enjoy.
  6. I'm just a fan, but I'd rather watch 9-8 than 5-12. I don't ask for anything other than something to watch to break up monotony and this Packers team isn't even worth tuning in to see. I accept others have higher aspirations for their teams. But Pittsburgh should compete in that division and I'd be ok with that as a fan. I don't really buy the argument that Rodgers is preventing them from getting better. They can get better everywhere and still find their next QB with him doing what he's doing.
  7. The full quote was less potent. He spoke really highly of Counsell. His point there was that the Brewers organization was a treasure in itself he had confidence it would continue to flourish, we shouldn't feel like the little brother left in the woods. I think the fans are a lot more bitter than Mark. I don't think Mark really cares, especially with how things have ended up. I agree with others though, I have no interest in a reconciliation with Counsell. I'm sure he's going to throw out one of 20 first pitches at the 70th anniversary or something, but I couldn't care less about him. I don't view him as the guy who rescued us or anything. I see him as a petulant baby, honestly. I didn't really like all his whining even when he was our guy. I look at Arnold, Stearns, Yost, Murphy, Melvin, all as bigger pillars of the club. Leaving is fine. Getting paid is fine. The ridiculous quotes since then where he pretends MKE doesn't mean anything to him, etc. Just go away, Greg.
  8. Kinda feels like much ado about nothing? They're both half smiling. I think those two know each other well enough to have that exchange. Rodgers seems OK for Pittsburgh to me. He's decent enough still, they have no answers at QB, and aren't ready to compete for titles, so he seems like a decent option to keep them contending for a division. JPJ was holding out, so it's not like they just traded a happy cornerstone. Buys them some time to find a long term solution and competitive enough for interest in the team. The blueprint for Pittsburgh is really a defensive team getting just enough from the offense. Rodgers is doing his part there, really. Their defense isn't doing what it was supposed to do.
  9. Yeah, I find that whole conversation pretty comical. The old guy on the dugout steps isn't providing any wild fluctuations in a best of 5 or 7. The manager's role is very important, but I think his on-field, gameday impact is way, way, less than what people think. In terms of managing the clubhouse, making most of the guys happy to be at work stuck together for 6-7 months, I think his role is tremendously undervalued by the general population. Even when it comes to what most perceive to be critical choices (which pitcher to bring in during certain situations) those are all predetermined by the geeks backstage. They've all gotten together countless times and gone over scenarios and which guys give you the best chance. It doesn't take a lot for a leader to make the workforce miserable. That is where Murphy shines. MLB history is littered with dopey managers (think Dusty Baker) who players loved playing for. That's what the job really is.
  10. I've been steadily claiming this is our year. I accept that we could be eliminated by Tuesday and that is realistic, but something just feels different. I feel like LA is vulnerable.
  11. It just feels vital that we go up 2-0. For obvious reasons, but because the G3 starter is going to be an experiment of sorts, it's just so much easier going into that scenario up 2-0.
  12. A mirror of the Packers in 2010, a year early, looked very strong, similarly going 15-1 only to not win a playoff game and really haven't been able to finish since then.
  13. Baseball is certainly a hard sport to win titles in and the Cubs did get one, but the Brewers really played a major role in dismantling that "dynasty" that they were very convinced would win several.
  14. I think the case would have to be very compelling to remove a president and I just don't see it happening this quickly outside of some type of scandal. I think that role probably has a lot less to do with the on-field product than people think. Not to excuse extending the other two, but I'm not sure W/L will get a president removed by the board.
  15. They don't have 4 weeks. I don't think these guys are saving anything, but the team probably hopes they are. They could be 1-6 in 4 weeks. I'll be surprised if at least one of them isn't playing next week. Wouldn't shock me if they shove one out there this weekend. The situation is dire.
  16. These are stop-gap signings to prevent Love from being killed. They have street FA pretending to be NFL players at the moment. They are, at least, long-tenured vets that have been able to play football. At their age, the time away may be good for all involved. Hopefully they are healthy for the time being. And maybe ignite a fire in at least one of the existing players that they need to fight for a job despite being handed one this summer. Disaster doesn't begin to describe it and it's at the hands of Gutekunst.
  17. I think that's a stretch. Zeitler was refusing to play for anyone at league minimum and allegedly in shape. I'd guess Tomlinson and Zeitler are playing next week at the latest.
  18. I don't think this is that unlikely of an outcome even if they go like 5-12. It's just not a stretch to me to listen to them drone on about the importance of consistency and working together etc.
  19. Because they have an incompetent GM who is doing June's work in October. The ghost of Aaron Rodgers let these buffoons believe that they could "just figure it out" with their patchwork OL and telling guys "yeah just go play over there."
  20. I nearly typed that when I wrote that comment.
  21. I would say they're in it. They aren't going anywhere this year. I think the only question to ask is are they the 3-win or the 7-win variety. I guess other questions would be how badly does Micah Parsons want to get back on the field given the circumstances, and is the leadership getting canned? Policy isn't going anywhere but maybe the other two have a chance.
  22. The Cubs are the worst team in the NL field. Just a bad pitching staff and generally not playing well at the end. Manager seems weak and feeble, lots of questionable quotes the last month of the season. They just don't strike me as a 'tough' team. I don't really wish for one opponent over another though; it'll be a ball of anxiety regardless of who it is.
