Saleh is getting HC interviews so may not be an option. Not sure why he'd get one as he is an awful HC, but I don't know if I want another one of MLF's friends coming in, and what exactly has he done other than being a name in the news a lot?

I don't think he will miss an entire season. I don't even think it's out of the question he starts the season, though unlikely. He may start on IR due to the new rules or almost for sure start on the PUP. But he has a lot of incentive to get back on the field financially. At his price tag, I don't think it's worth it for the Packers to do a settlement. I'd rather gamble on him being able to help out in some way. The kind of talent he is, is worth risking for a mid-season infusion. Jaire - different story. I would just like to unload him for a bag of potatoes.

Who the hell said he was crap? He's not that great of a passer. He doesn't do any of the volume the elite QBs do and has a 2,000 yard RB. He's the second or third best running QB in the league, but his passing leaves plenty to be desired. He's 17th in the league in yards per completion - probably has a lot to do with his expected completion percentage. -
I think the majority would take Hurts based on perception on and not any kind of reality. He has played in a Super Bowl and has been a name a bit longer. Digging in, he hasn't been very good. He did pretty much nothing on Sunday. I would personally also take Love for the exact same reason, there's a chance his best is ahead of him. I think Hurts is more "this is what you get" at this point. Next year is a big year for Love. They would likely make changes to improve the offense, I personally think he was hurt most of the season too. Will next year be closer to this year or last year?

Watson should be back as they don't have a choice anyway with the injury. He won't be ready most likely by September, but ACLs aren't what they used to be and he costs nothing. At best, he's a deep threat they can bring in during the middle of the season and give a boost to the offense, and maybe try and earn a second contract. All teams will have the same hesitancy to sign him, so he may have a future as a role player if he can prove next year that he can rehab this thing. But he is low-risk, high-reward, for one season anyway. Offensively, they need depth on the OL (seems like everyone always needs this) and a WR IMO. Defensively, MLB has been a problem on this roster for 20 years. It's time for a drastic measure to address that.

They overachieved this year but it's similar to Alex Smith in KC. You have to make the move and hope McCarthy can play. You can't pay two starting QBs. I agree though that I think they regress, I never thought they were that great this year, yes they won 14 games but they were eeking a lot of them out and the eye test just wasn't very convincing. They have the names on paper, but Philly/Det when healthy were a lot more intimidating. I am not sure what team is going to pay big money for Darnold though. I don't think he's going to get a huge contract.

Jerry's approach to this really made no sense. I think he decided to fire McCarthy once word got out that McCarthy was even entertaining the Bears. That hurt Jerry because it meant to him that McCarthy wasn't all-in, when in reality he was doing what any sane person would do and making sure he had a job next season. Jerry then pretends he's hung up on length of contract so they can "mutually part ways." If the negotiations were really stalled, they should have known that weeks ago and had a larger pool of candidates to look at, now they're out anyone who's been hired but more importantly they lost the chance to interview anyone from KC or DET.

I hope they deal Alexander. They have already adjusted to playing without him and the results were OK. Bring in a pass rusher and that would help more than getting Alexander. He's never healthy and he's a malcontent.

They won't keep Darnold. I think they'd be crazy to do that. You drafted a guy in the top 10. Only way it happens is if nobody is really interested in Darnold and he comes in way less than expected, or they tag him.

The Lions are a douchey team. All the bravado, yelling in guy's faces after the game. I get they are this lovable loser team from a blue collar town or whatever, but I'm over it. They can lose another 50 years as far as I'm concerned. The Chiefs are benign. Another title won't hurt anything. It's boring, but I don't have any ill will. Buffalo would be my favorite. The Eagles, as I said, didn't care until that video went viral. Rams or Commanders are fine but they won't win. Ravens, really anyone in the AFC is fine.

Well I predicted in like week 9 the Vikings wouldn't make the playoffs, was wrong, but they may as well not have, especially after winning 14 games. Imagine 14-3 and not getting a home game. Then getting crushed. It's terrible and delicious all at once.

If they go out quietly tonight he's gone, which IMO is the correct call. They could tag him as an insurance policy, but that has drawbacks too. As a Packers fan, I would love them to commit to him. He's not going to do anything long term.

I'm almost certain Detroit is winning the NFC, which I don't like, but I guess we're down to Minnesota and Detroit being 2/5 outcomes so Minnesota losing is good. I was indifferent about the Eagles until the viral douchebag from yesterday harassing that poor girl. I'd like to see anyone in the AFC take it this year. Buffalo is my top choice. The Rams or Commanders would be fine but I don't see it happening.

I couldn't really care less where they are picked. He was a guy that looked like he was going to be a significant part of the team, except now he has headcase and head injury problems and I doubt he has a second contract in GB.

Mike McCarthy is out in Dallas. I thought he was safe but when I saw he was entertaining the Bears, that it was something that would get under Jerry's skin. I bet he did not like that.

I went to high school with a player whose rookie year was 2011 (I was a bit older) and shockingly he's still in the league. That offseason I happened to be in Milwakuee and he recognized me walking down the street. I had a brief conversation with him about life in the NFL and he specifically said when his team did film study on the Packers that season, it was discussed in those sessions that their defense just looked lost without Nick Collins.

I think it's entirely possible one of the current WRs becomes the "true #1" everyone is clamoring for. I think it's probably Reed. I think some are being way too dismissive of where these guys are in their development. Doubs is starting to give me Terrence Murphy vibes (not a similar situation just a high-ish pick who is going to have a short career). The suspension and the head injuries are just not a good thing. But I think going into next season hoping it happens is a bit of a risk.

Funny to debate a 16 year old team, but it's the offseason - they really weren't though. Their secondary in particular was shredded at will against any top offense they played that season. Favre twice, they could not get him off the field for the life of themselves, the Cardinals, and they padded stats against the likes of the hapless Lions, coming off an 0-16 season, and Bears at the time. They beat Arizona by like 30 the week before the Wild Card in a game Arizona treated like a bye. It was actually pretty similar to this year where they took care of business against who they should, but never showed up against anybody good (they actually did yesterday for the most part). Major difference being that this team had to play the top 3 teams five times during the regular season. They gave up at least 30 points in every game they lost that year. Huge difference though is they had the DPOY and Clay Matthews.

Maybe WR is an issue, I am pretty meh on bringing back old Packer retreads. It just doesn't seem to work out. At the right price maybe, but I don't think he is going to go for that. I think a vet WR could help. But the best WR won't change the fact that Love was off the mark a lot this season. Rodgers is quite literally the most accurate in history so I think everyone has to put that to bed, but Love has to be better no matter who is catching the ball.

I think reality is somewhere in the middle, as usual. At this point in the Rodgers era they were 0-1 in the playoffs though he was admittedly playing at a higher level than Love - that will probably always be the case. Their defense went from pretty embarrassing in '09 to very good in '10. Statistically they were ok but they got embarrassed by AZ in the Wild Card. A huge part of the improvement was an undrafted rookie FA named Sam Shields. They had some nice pieces offensively, but I would say nobody close to as good as Jacobs and their offense was actually pretty bad the first 2/3 of 2010. My point in all that is things can change in a hurry and because of unexpected things. I think they do need more out of their 1st rounders, but the undrafted FAs, the less splashy FAs can also help a lot. Just as regression happens, some guys will bounce back and others will emerge. The NFL is fun to follow because of those drastic changes that seemingly come out of nowhere. I am not worried about Love. I think he was less healthy most of the year than he let on. I don't think he is a HOF QB but I think he's very good, and good enough. It happens pretty much every year that someone just hits a bad patch and limps in. It was the Packers this year. They just weren't playing well when it counted. This was really predictable. But for God's sake, if we want to fix the low-hanging fruit, can we have a Madden player take over the kickoff and punt/return teams?

The last defensive first rounders are Stokes, Wyatt, Walker, Savage and Van Ness. That's extremely bad. I think those guys look like solid picks at this point, but Matthews and Raji were more or less immediate stars. Going 2/2 with both first rounders in a single year is hard, but so is going 0/5. The Packers really have squandered their top pick quite a bit lately. I don't want to give up on Walker or Van Ness but they both sucked this year.

The Packers need their day 1/2 picks to be more Matthews and Raji and not guys that aren't cornerstones until Year 4 and then demand a big payday. They won the Super Bowl in large part because they hit on those two guys. That was their second year in the league. We have more "projects" right now than a 3rd grade art class. They need at least 1 rookie that can play immediately.

The separation between oldest and youngest is like an average of 1.8 years. From 1 to 10 is like .1 and .2 years. It's a stupid thing. It needs to go away. People repeat it as if one team is 25 and the other is 80,

Everyone in the league is a #2 behind Chase. I don't know if the Packers need Higgins but they need someone.

The were 3-6 and 6-8 last year. They had a hot month, and the significance of it has been really overstated. They were more consistent this season. When they got bad, they didn't sink as low as they were last season. But they never hit the plateau they did last year. I don't think there was a point this season were they ever looked as good as they did in the playoffs last year. There are a few reasons, I think Jaire is one. He basically didn't play this year and they are paying him to be the best or second best player on the defense. Another is there is film on everyone now. Love, all the receivers who honestly are either average or still really young or both. There was no great season from anyone in the front 7. Someone else alluded to the hot seat. I think MLF is on it if he puts together a season like this next year. If there isn't a title push by the 2026-27 season I think he is out.
