  1. This was also Brad Boxberger's history before he was signed by the Brewers. And Box had worse results on the mound (pre-Brewers) than Payamps. He is clearly an MLB BP arm. Maybe he just hasn't found his spot. Maybe he is a locker room cancer. Or maybe relievers bounce around a lot. Whatever the cause, he is merely a toss-in on the trade. Anything he brings is gravy.
  2. Meh... Brewers dumpster diving again...
  3. When the trade happened, I saw a few comments about his attitude and wondered how deep it went. I know nothing of him (except his killing us when he was with the Reds), but I have a tendency to think if all the reports are from his time with Seattle, I'd expect it to be a mis-match and less so a Winker problem. Different teammates, different culture, different city, different fans, different expectations. Sometimes the new guy doesn't come in and hit it off right away and problems start to fester. Did he replace a fan/team favorite then underproduce? I can't say I'm too concerned based on what those reports out of Seattle are saying because there was 0% (that I've seen) out of Cincinnati.
  4. Toro has some interesting scouting reports: Baseball prospectus: Yet, for his wide set of skills and versatility, he's an odd player to watch. On the spectrum of athletic grace, Toro falls closer to Hunter Pence than Ken Griffey, Jr. His above-average speed comes in the form of a waddle, and his defensive chops are strictly functional, never flashy. For all the contact he makes, you'd be generous to label either of his swings as particularly beautiful. Of course, none of these unusual aesthetics matter if Toro can finally deliver on the promising projections rooted in his excellent track record in the Minors. As Jeff Passan relayed on Twitter via a front-office source: "Abraham Toro has been on every nerd team’s breakout list for the last three years." We'll see if the Marinerds were right on this one after all. Fangraphs: The enigmatic Toro has the tools and statistical track record befitting an everyday player but his swing and throwing can look odd, leading to some doubt as to their true efficacy.
  5. You realize that quote only explains the only way we'd get compensation if Frelick wins the ROY and isn't jumping down someone's throat about him not winning it... Odd "evidence"
  6. Not sure why I didn't think of this before, but @Brock Beauchamp, when are you buying a #0 Bucks jersey? ?
  7. Realize that I'm not talking about Beachamp's actual defensive capabilities... I'm talking about a rookie playing D on an All-Star in the playoffs... the rookie will need to be 2x as good to get the benefit of the doubt. Carter on Tatum would be better than Allen and maybe PC, but he still gives up 6" of height so there would be a lot of open jumpers. I'm not sold on Crowder over Allen, but I see how his skills fit into our mix-n-match to the opponent style. We'll have Joe Ingles coming back to be the 3pt+minimal D role that Allen fills now. Plus, you block anyone else from getting Crowder for the purpose of playing D on Giannis. ?
  8. If Crowder were a tick better at his 3ptrs it would be a no-brainer. Beauchamp is still a rookie and is up and down. I wonder how much respect officials will give him on D in the playoffs? Certainly the thought is that Crowder will be "Tucker-lite" (again if he just shot 3s a bit better...) and looking towards a Boston matchup with Tatum again. A defense of Holiday, Middleton, Crowder, Giannis, and Brooks would defend the Tatum-pick-to-the-worst-D-player offense much better than last year. In that situation, Carter is just too short and I think Beauchamp won't get many favorable calls against Tatum.
  9. Glenn Bragg was my first and still is my only autograph. I forget what year exactly, but it was my first game and I was 13 or 14 years old. I was looking for autographs and asked a couple players (got rude rejections from them). I saw Braggs in the dugout, sitting alone and asked him for an autograph. He said he needed to warm up first and ran out on the field. When he came back, a swarm of younger kids came flying in and mobbed the front row. Glenn saw me (now pushed back behind 6-7 kids) and reached over them to take his rookie card from me and signed it. So @GAME05, I don't think he is a jerk.

  11. Nwora has look surprisingly bad this year, IMO. Shooting sub-31% on the year. Ironically, he was supposed to be all offense, no defense with Beauchamp being the opposite. Looks like Beauchamp is better at both right now.
  12. Yes, congrats GAME05! Maybe just push the cart everywhere to get your workout in. ?
  13. Loved the Carter pickup last year and it continues to look better every day. Don't think we should expect 30-some points too often. I'm just happy to see a high 30s% 3pt rate and strong D continue. Perfect backup PG. I wonder if the Carter/Holiday combo this year is Bud's acknowledgment that not playing Carter vs Boston was a mistake?
  14. For a non-restaurant alternative, my family loves the Costco Detroit-style frozen pizza. Very well done for a frozen pizza. The pan it comes in gives it the crispy edges and it has very good pepperoni. But it only comes in pepperoni (hoping for a supreme myself). Probably the one frozen pizza my entire family (8 in total) likes.
  15. I think there is a higher variability in people's taste... ?. While I haven't eaten at PH for over 5 years (its ok, but we have better options IMO), one thing about these 18 pages of pizza discussion is that everyone has very different tastes. Including this crazy @Hopper person that doesn't like mushrooms! ? @AKCheesehead, that sounded great to me. Almost good enough to fly up for a visit.
  16. Beauchamp certainly did look good last night. My son and I were joking that it was hard to tell him from Nwora (at least from the upper deck). But I'd much prefer Beauchamp at this point. Nwora still can't figure out D unfortunately. I was watching Beachamp warm up. He has a nice shot form, but his consistency is all over the place. One shot drops right in... next is clanging off the back. Next one nothing but net...followed by an air ball. Kind of odd. In the game, he needs some work on shot selection too. But over all, he certainly looks like a player. The game isn't too big for him.
  17. Well, out of the shadow, technically yes. And the bright lights showed him to be the very good #2 the rest of the league expected he was and not enough to be the #1 on a team. But that didn't mean he didn't want to try.
  18. Also look for me tomorrow night! I'll be wearing my Buck's green in the nose-bleed section of Target Center. Very strange to have a Friday night 9PM (central) game though. Last time we went, they had a basketball hoop problem and it took them over an hour to fix it. Sadly they screwed around for a ridiculous amount of time, then finally decided to replace the hoop entirely (which took about 10 min). Hope that doesn't happen this time...
  19. I've not jumped through the cap gymnastics to figure this out, but part of me wonders if it is time to move on from Khris (post this year)? I worry about tying that much money up in an aging (though very good) player. But I don't think we will have much problem attracting FAs (or a "forced" trades) to get another #2 to Giannis' lead.
  20. Clearly, DS's legacy is twice trading Josh Hader prior to leaving an organization...

  22. Yes, nice to see the Bucks looking strong already. Giannis looks like he is mid-season form. Brooks is moving well and back to blocking everything close. Bobby is doing Bobby things. Interesting to see Halliday and Carter paired in the backcourt. That would be a very tough D against Boston or other guard lead offenses. And we still have our "mid-season trades" coming when Khris and Pat return.
  23. I think this article debunked a Crowder trade for me. I think other teams have more value for him since he can be a Giannis-stopper (or slower-downer). But my visions of PJ Tucker 2.0 were burst when I see he shoots a sub-35% 3PTR. https://www.brewhoop.com/2022/10/24/23420729/report-milwaukee-bucks-have-registered-interest-in-jae-crowder-trade-phoenix-suns-nba-rumor Bucks fans that have been clamoring for the team to trade Grayson Allen are largely holding onto his poor performance against Boston in the playoffs (while also conveniently ignoring his stellar performance the series before against Chicago), as well as remembering the fits that Crowder caused for the Bucks as an opponent. Since there is no other viable trade package that Milwaukee can offer, going all-in for Crowder seems like a mistake, especially if it happens before the new year. Getting “a guy somewhat similar to PJ Tucker” is not the same as getting PJ Tucker; that’s not a formula, that’s chasing the dragon. The Bucks should hold off on making any changes until they can see their full team, which means that they ought to make no moves until the trade deadline unless circumstances wildly change.
