  1. Meanwhile in NY, they are playing, "What's Love got to do with it?"
  2. I was contemplating the disparity between LVN's strength numbers at the combine and his obvious power in his game tape. I guess the simple answer is that he has grown a lot in a few short years and his arms/chest haven't quite caught up. Thus his game tape is probably more a result of lower body power. So when his upper body strength does catch up to his lower body, which is probably one of the easier things to "fix" in the NFL....wow, pretty high potential.
  3. $260k is higher than a 6th round pick. That is odd on multiple fronts... how many UDFAs actually make a dent in the NFL (yes, we have a list of players like Sam Shields, Tramon Williams, and Allen Lazard) but they represent such a small portion. And if you didn't think the guy was worth a 6th/7th round pick... why pay for it now? I guess "buying" another 6th/7th round pick. Not to mention that many UDFAs take more than one stop to succeed (Williams and Lazard were waiver wire pickups).
  4. So will the first pick in the 7th be a Kicker?
  5. Are you just focusing on the negative? 😉
  6. Rashee Rice just seems like a Packer WR. But I'm afraid they doom him by grabbing him in the 3rd... Tillman is a Packer WR type too
  7. Yeah, that was one reason I like him is to fill that Z-Smith role. I loved how Z would shift around and seemingly find a weakness. Flexiblity and rotation is a good thing. Engebare is another option like that too (though less athletic).
  8. Eventually on run D. His weakest point was his strength... (at last on his combine numbers). I'm hoping he had a bad day. In the 8th percentile for single gap DEs (including Bosa and P-Smith): https://www.mockdraftable.com/player/lukas-van-ness
  9. Yes! Ness was actually my preferred pick, but seemed like he was dropping on polls so I was expecting him in the 20-25 range, but still a very Packer pick. Lots of upside.
  10. Unless someone really falls and surprises us... I'd prefer a vet this year. Give Love a vet to give him some feedback and support.
  11. Sounds like a New Orleans type pick at #29 and gets the Taysom Hill treatment (initially at least). If Sean Payton was there, I'd bet on it. But since the Broncos don't have a 1st or 2nd Round pick, I doubt Sean is going to get him.
  12. And one in the 7th round that makes a good backup/bad starter?
  13. I only saw the first game and "assumed" that rust was the major factor in them not looking organized as a team... I missed the last 3 games; only to watch the last half of the 4th Q and OT last night. I thought you guys (not specifically owbc, but several people) exaggerating about a coaching change. After watching the end of that game, I don't know how you don't make a change. The overall coaching (not just in-game, but overall preparedness and team comfort with each other) was horrid. They looked like jr-highers out there (not an overreaction, I'll explain): Lets start with Giannis. That was not an MVP. Suddenly, his FT form reverts back to 2020 FT form (knees fully extended before the ball goes, leaving him short every time). He couldn't manufacture his own bucket and resorted to shooting bad jumpers. He wasn't even on the D end much. Perhaps it was the injury, but he invisible at the end of the game. The big 3: crunch time and NONE of them wanted the ball. They might dribble and test, but passed off immediately. Nor did they create well for others... most pass outs where to covered players that were standing (not cutting). Team unity - have these guys played BB with each other before? Sure didn't look like it. No one moving together, blind passes to where someone wasn't standing... they didn't look together out there on offense nor defense. Passing - wow. Just wow. This was jr-high level (I DON'T WANT TO BALL YOU TAKE IT) garbage passing. There are simply too many instances where passes were rushed and the ball wasn't controlled. So many turnovers or near TOs... Basketball IQ: Why aren't we inbounding the ball to Khris and let them foul him for FTs? Why are we trying to be cute, pass to an "open area" where the best case scenario is that we waste 1 more second, but a couple times lost the ball or almost lost the ball. Why aren't we taking TOs to setup plays? Why not miss Holliday's second FT with 2 sec left? Coaching - Yeah, wow. Our defense just remained with the old "drop Brooks D" that didn't work a few years ago and allowed open so many open jumpers. This team looked SO unprepared for the Heat and made zero adjustments. I'm glad we didn't suddenly eke that one out because we had no business winning that based on our play. I think we clearly had the advantage in skill players (the only reason the game was close and/or had a lead), but if we had played together like the Heat played together... we would've crushed them in 4 games. The Heat's coaching, team play, and Butler's give-me-the-ball attitude were what put them over the top in a well deserved series victory. So, I'm currently on the time to replace the coaching staff bandwagon.
  14. That was the knock on Justin Jefferson in the draft too. I'm not "all in" on JSN because he isn't the athletic all-around type. He is simply the best WR in the draft. He will be very good and Jennings is probably a great comparison. In last year's draft, he probably goes in the late 1st round. But I can see the logic and the fit for him on the team too. Likewise with Branch. I get why we want him and how he fits, but he is simply the best S in the draft...not really someone worthy of the 13th pick, IMO.
  15. And they draft a QB with it!
  16. Completely agree. Love's pick has already been justified, IMO. Anything he does now is gravy. I saw and article that said "the Packers lose if Love isn't good". I think that is ridiculous. Rodgers leaving had nothing to do with Love pushing him out or the GM choosing Love over Rodgers. It had to do with salary cap and the ability to win with Rodgers at the helm (you can add personality/relationships there also, but if the first item isn't there, I'm sure the GM makes nice). Once you decide Rodgers can't take your team to the SB anymore (regardless of whether he can take another team), you need to move on, evaluate Love, and rebuild a team so you can win a SB.
  17. R-E-L-A-X. 😉 This is an "all-in" move for the Jets. If Rodgers is healthy and they can't win, the GM's job is probably in jeopardy anyway. Benching Rodgers is going to just make it worse. He is going to push all he can to get into the playoffs to give them every chance to win a SB. Rodgers doesn't have many more chances and this just gave him another chip on his shoulder to prove people wrong and motivate him this year. Realistically, injury is the only way they don't hit the conditions for a 1st round pick.
  18. From what I've read, if you took the thread as a whole and ignored who said it... yes, that was about it. If you looked at individuals posts (allowing for an adjustment with Giannis' injury), people have been pretty consistent. Just like how you generally take the pessimistic approach to everything.
  19. Khris is probably the most likely of the big three to need to be replaced. I worry about extending him long term. If the Bucks are to pull this series out... G is going to have to really turn it up. I missed last night, but his last few games (in regular season too) have had some bad passes, dumb fouls, etc.. Time to earn the MVP title
  20. I'm kind of at the point where if JSN isn't there, I say we trade down. Other worthy players, but not enough of a difference; I'd rather have two bites of the apple instead. Unless you know you are getting a stud S or TE (and I don't see either in the draft), I'd pass on taking the best one high just because of need. Though, it wouldn't shock me to see a CB picked and move Douglas to safety. I'm also torn if I actually want JSN or Rashee Rice (not that we can't get both). Rice is my current draft crush, honestly. And his comps are Nate Burleson, Brandon Aiyuk, and Davonte Adams (and Adrian Peterson if you include all ball carriers).
  21. He is one of the few players we have that consistently can get his own shot, which was a major problem when Giannis was shut down. He was also an All Star player last year. No way to know he would've tipped the scales but seriously a bad take to say he'd have no impact.
  22. We took Boston to game 7 without our 2nd best player. Problems this year doesn't change what happened last year.
  23. I don't disagree that the Jets might consider trading down and trying to use that to finish the Rodgers deal. I just don't they are going to share who each team is targeting regardless of what an internet "need" board states. How often does a team take their "biggest need" anyway? And yes... the draft can't come soon enough this week. This NFL news wasteland is maddening. 😂
  24. This is the part I found complicated and unlikely... the teams actually cooperating that much and being open about who they like on their board. What happens if they want the same player?
