  1. And one in the 7th round that makes a good backup/bad starter?
  2. That was the knock on Justin Jefferson in the draft too. I'm not "all in" on JSN because he isn't the athletic all-around type. He is simply the best WR in the draft. He will be very good and Jennings is probably a great comparison. In last year's draft, he probably goes in the late 1st round. But I can see the logic and the fit for him on the team too. Likewise with Branch. I get why we want him and how he fits, but he is simply the best S in the draft...not really someone worthy of the 13th pick, IMO.
  3. And they draft a QB with it!
  4. Completely agree. Love's pick has already been justified, IMO. Anything he does now is gravy. I saw and article that said "the Packers lose if Love isn't good". I think that is ridiculous. Rodgers leaving had nothing to do with Love pushing him out or the GM choosing Love over Rodgers. It had to do with salary cap and the ability to win with Rodgers at the helm (you can add personality/relationships there also, but if the first item isn't there, I'm sure the GM makes nice). Once you decide Rodgers can't take your team to the SB anymore (regardless of whether he can take another team), you need to move on, evaluate Love, and rebuild a team so you can win a SB.
  5. R-E-L-A-X. 😉 This is an "all-in" move for the Jets. If Rodgers is healthy and they can't win, the GM's job is probably in jeopardy anyway. Benching Rodgers is going to just make it worse. He is going to push all he can to get into the playoffs to give them every chance to win a SB. Rodgers doesn't have many more chances and this just gave him another chip on his shoulder to prove people wrong and motivate him this year. Realistically, injury is the only way they don't hit the conditions for a 1st round pick.
  6. I'm kind of at the point where if JSN isn't there, I say we trade down. Other worthy players, but not enough of a difference; I'd rather have two bites of the apple instead. Unless you know you are getting a stud S or TE (and I don't see either in the draft), I'd pass on taking the best one high just because of need. Though, it wouldn't shock me to see a CB picked and move Douglas to safety. I'm also torn if I actually want JSN or Rashee Rice (not that we can't get both). Rice is my current draft crush, honestly. And his comps are Nate Burleson, Brandon Aiyuk, and Davonte Adams (and Adrian Peterson if you include all ball carriers).
  7. I don't disagree that the Jets might consider trading down and trying to use that to finish the Rodgers deal. I just don't they are going to share who each team is targeting regardless of what an internet "need" board states. How often does a team take their "biggest need" anyway? And yes... the draft can't come soon enough this week. This NFL news wasteland is maddening. 😂
  8. This is the part I found complicated and unlikely... the teams actually cooperating that much and being open about who they like on their board. What happens if they want the same player?
  9. Yes, what happens in that city stays in that city.
  10. I've always thought that I'd a team moves, the branding and history of that team should remain. The moving team starts as an "expansion team". Thus the Braves' history (and WS win) would be owned by Milwaukee.
  11. Honestly, both ideas sound a little complicated- especially the second- to pull off with limited time on the clock
  12. Yes, I think "patience" is a better description than reluctance. I think the main reason Wolf was such a good GM is that he: Built by BPA in the draft. Don't let your needs dictate who you draft. (Though his 1st round drafting was weak). After the draft, filled in gaps with trades and FAs. One area Sherman, TT, nor Gute have really attempted is using next year's 6th/7th round picks to nab those starter gaps (Eugene Robinson). My guess is if someone like Hooker falls to them in a good spot... we don't bother with a vet. If we don't get someone very high in the draft, we go for a vet FA.
  13. Do you rate the players in general or for how they would fit with the Packers specifically?
  14. Good stuff as always @LouisEly. Washington is my preferred TE. Clearly will block now... certainly has the physical capabilities to grow as a receiver. I do think they will draft a QB regardless of Rodger's situation. No way is he going to back up Love and I can't see the coaching staff sitting Love now. Trade or retirement at this point.
  15. If you know someone personally on the committee, I think you could cautiously ask if there was something you could do to improve your chances on the next job. Of course, asking a friend that question might put them in an uncomfortable situation also... If you didn't know the person, I wouldn't even try. I'm coached to not give out that information simply for legal reasons. The times I've been declined for a job, I've been given very weak or sanitized reasons.
  16. https://www.mockdraftable.com/player/jaxon-smith-njigba One of JSN's comparables is Greg Jennings. Thankfully they don't have measurables for personality...
  17. Clearly there is much more to any player than the athletic measurements. DA's footwork was often lauded as he could pretty much create separation right at the LOS. So I was curious what DA's measurements were and I found this web site that really does a nice job comparing each metric by percentiles to all players in that position. DA's breakdown looks like: Vertical Jump (89%), Weight (75%), 3 Cone (74%), Arm Length (69%), 10yd split (68%), and Broad jump (68%) were all the physical measurements that were above average. The others - 40 yd dash, hand size, height, 20yd shuttle, were all below average. Now... a one point sample size doesn't mean much. And his WR comparisons are not inspiring either. But I think it is clear how his physical measurements contributed to the type of player he was: Vertical Jump contributed to his TD and contested catch capabilities. 3-cone and 10yd splits (with his footwork) made him tough to cover in routes. 40yd dash kept him from being much of a deep threat.
  18. The 3 cone is my favorite *single* athletic measurement for a WR. Obviously, you look at the whole package, but 3 cone is the first one I look at. They have to turn sometime. Hard to tell where they are drafted based on numbers because you don't know the competition either. But if they are 2-3 rounds separated,,, we can draft both right? 🙂
  19. Terrible comp... I did say Turang had more range. And I'm pretty sure he could play SS and 3B in addition to the current 2B. Yeah, I wanted to give credit... just couldn't remember. 😅
  20. I would hope Orlando Arcia is his absolute floor as a player. Turang should have more of a bat than Orlando. Hernan Perez is a poor comp... I don't see any similarities there. Mark Loretta (someone else brought that up somewhere else) is a pretty close comp, IMO. Turang has a chance to be slightly better on offense (power) and defense(range/arm), but a decent comp.
  21. The Jets get their Packer QB!!!! Oh wait, it is former Packer clipboard holder Tim Boyle. The Jets do know we didn't win the Superbowl in 2020, right??? Seems like they are trying to replicate that team...only 3 years older.
  22. Maybe BF.com should pick a favorite "section". Then when you go to the game, complain loudly about posts in the IGT and then see who notices and ask for their screen name. 😄
  23. Got to wait until next year for that one. 😉
  24. My therapist says that I need closure.
  25. Mine is Jason Alexander or Edrian Robinson. I guess I can always revert to Seinfeld jokes...
