  1. The ump probably ate skyline chili and was confused why the chili tastes like spaghetti. Spaghetti is chili, balls are strikes... everything is just upside down.
  2. Yellich with a little last glance at the ump on ball 5 before walking to 1st.
  3. It will probably continue when our sub-600 OPS (or sub 70 OPS+) DH continues to hit in the heart of the order. Free Agency was 6 months ago. Winker continues to stink it up now. They can get rid of Winker. They can do whatever they want.
  4. Every poster? Welcome to the internet. 😅 I'm very sure Wiemer isn't at his "high" point., but has well established his floor. Especially now that he proved he can play CF well. Hard to tell where Frelick and Chourio will end up at this point. And Mitchell continues to have health issues.
  5. Yeah, which it too bad, but thankfully our pitching was good!
  6. The reason our All Stars don't need to pitch in the All Star Game.
  7. Hire El Caballo as the hitting coach!
  8. India K was setup by that outside slider being called a strike. Bastically forced him to swing at just about anything. But hey... I'll take it.
  9. If Mitchell could stay healthy, I'd take him in CF. Not sure who has better D, but Mitchell has been better at the plate so far. And if Chourio reaches his potential, he is another potential to move him off CF. He is also young and athletic now, but with his body size, he doesn't seem to have the body type to stay in CF.
  10. I'm old but don't know it. 😂 I jumped, but my left leg said "nope". I actually blocked the spike without getting off the ground, but limped around for a week after...
  11. Adames got hot recently, but was pretty poor before. Tellez has been pretty bad all year. Urias wasn't there long with his injury, but also very low. Winker of course. Even Brian Anderson could look more like a younger version of himself (yes, easier said than done and self-realized as I tried playing in a volleyball tournament last week... ouch!) Yes, with our BA and OPS so low, we can't be too picky here. DH and 1B are obvious areas to upgrade and should be the easiest as they are or can be hit-first players (i.e. defense second). RF and 3B could be better too.
  12. 1) What Corbin Burnes will be pitching for us in the second half? Dr. Jekyll or Mr. Hyde? 2) Will CC continue to force Winker into the line-up? 3) Which of the struggling sluggers will join Yelich in a resurgence? 4) What trades are made to improve our offense? And who steps out to make room for them?
  13. I think you'd help out offense more by leaving Wiemer where his D is bringing positive value and find an RFer that can hit.
  14. I'm sure if Tony LaRussa was coaching the Reds, they would be throwing balls at us for this... and/or any other perceived slight like having a hat on crooked, not wearing stirrups, smiling in the dugout, using blue as a primary color, or wearing stirrups. But I can't see anyone pinning this to a bulletin board... kind of a "meh" comment at most. Granted, Corbin himself could use an upgrade this second half of the season too. All-Star or not...
  15. The Wilken/Knoth combo feels a lot like our normal "got a deal with the second so take an underslot with the first to double-dip" draft approach (e.g. Brown/Misiorowski of last year). But Pratt feels a little odd to me. I wonder if something happened mid-draft that alerted the Brewers that he was signable so they grabbed him in the 6th round when they hadn't planned to earlier? Otherwise, you'd expect him a bit higher... I can't imagine they would do it without being sure they can sign their top 10 (per their normal draft approach anyway).
  16. With so many variables of the pitcher, runner, catcher, and SS/2B, it is hard to distinguish the catcher's responsibility from the others. I know they have pop times for how long the catcher takes to get to 2nd, but a rating of accuracy would be nice too (perhaps there is one in the depths of catching metrics?). At least you could compare apples to apples. Edit: and of course they have this already: https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/leaderboard/catcher-throwing
  17. Its too bad Huira was hurt earlier or he might've gotten a shot when Winker was injured. Then we could go into the trade deadline knowing if he could be an upgrade or not. Well, actually... I think he is clearly an upgrade on today's Winker, so perhaps that should be "how much of an upgrade?" You roll the dice not making a bigger move at DH on the hopes that Huira is a positive WAR for the rest of the year. But perhaps a move at 1B and Huira at DH lessens that risk. Whatever happens, Winker needs to be removed from CC's options so he stops putting top-3 in the lineup. blah...
  18. How about "Robots on strike: Scrub umpires are taking our jobs!" I thought I read/watched something where they stated each player was measured to match a strike zone to their height.
  19. With Twitter and the internet in general, I have fairly low expectations for the ability of sports bloggers to write a decent article,. But my goodness there are people out there that couldn't pass a jr high grammar class. I don't know if I could intentionally write this poorly. Players like Dean Lowry and Tyler Lancaster, who had seen a lot of snaps for the Packers in recent seasons, were, for the most part, strictly interior defenders and more so space eaters rather than penetrating defensive linemen, which this system requires, and is the type of player Devonte Wyatt, a 2022 draft pick, is. https://packerswire.usatoday.com/2023/07/11/packers-emphasize-versatility-along-defensive-front-to-maximize-scheme/
  20. Given the backlash of the Hader trade and Burnes' mediocre results, the best course of action would be to hold onto Burnes and hope he rebounds a bit before trading him in the offseason. Or if he continues as is... next trade deadline.
  21. Rowdy hitting sandwich between a toasted Hader trade bread with a side of Wiemer/Adames chips. Delicious!
  22. South metro Twin Cities. I was just in Chetek, WI and they had them in droves. Perhaps they are slow in coming, but I know both are helping. I started Milky spore in 2021 (it takes a year to effect as it kills the grubs). Last July, they came out strong, but reduced. Then in Aug sometime I started using Neem oil. They would land on the plant but not eat it. In years past, they were so bad, they bronzed one of my apple trees. I started using traps (yes, they might attract from neighbors, but it was so bad, I had to) and I would replace the bag weekly in two traps. Last year, I only had one bag per trap for the whole season. This year, no traps and only spraying neem oil weekly with the milky spore doing its thing from a couple years ago. The contrast is very stark. And both solutions are natural solutions, so I appreciate not having chemical pesticides on my fruit trees.
