  1. Beauchamp certainly did look good last night. My son and I were joking that it was hard to tell him from Nwora (at least from the upper deck). But I'd much prefer Beauchamp at this point. Nwora still can't figure out D unfortunately. I was watching Beachamp warm up. He has a nice shot form, but his consistency is all over the place. One shot drops right in... next is clanging off the back. Next one nothing but net...followed by an air ball. Kind of odd. In the game, he needs some work on shot selection too. But over all, he certainly looks like a player. The game isn't too big for him.
  2. Well, out of the shadow, technically yes. And the bright lights showed him to be the very good #2 the rest of the league expected he was and not enough to be the #1 on a team. But that didn't mean he didn't want to try.
  3. I really like the shiny red Texan helmets, but they need to change the jerseys then as that was a lot of red... maybe its symbolic,...
  4. Jason Kidd was only "very good" until he could at least threaten people with a 3-ball. And that was in the age of man-defense only. Now days a perimeter starter that can't shoot is useless - especially if he is one of a teams "big 3"
  5. I like cussing out the coach, but he doesn't agree...
  6. Also look for me tomorrow night! I'll be wearing my Buck's green in the nose-bleed section of Target Center. Very strange to have a Friday night 9PM (central) game though. Last time we went, they had a basketball hoop problem and it took them over an hour to fix it. Sadly they screwed around for a ridiculous amount of time, then finally decided to replace the hoop entirely (which took about 10 min). Hope that doesn't happen this time...
  7. I've not jumped through the cap gymnastics to figure this out, but part of me wonders if it is time to move on from Khris (post this year)? I worry about tying that much money up in an aging (though very good) player. But I don't think we will have much problem attracting FAs (or a "forced" trades) to get another #2 to Giannis' lead.
  8. 2022 draft is certainly on the TBD list before inclusion to this list, but it certainly has a boom or bust feel to it. Athletes are great, but many teams have proven that athletes that aren't football players don't make good teams. And Gute is showing a history of doing this already (giving me a little bit of 1980s Al Davis vibes) and busting on "athletes" without instincts. 2018: Basically, you get an A on Jaire. MVS was a nice find in the 5th round, but not a big impact guy. EQS another good find as a 6th rounder, but is a 4th WR at best. Big misses on Josh Jackson, Owen Burkes, JK Scott (punter!), J'mon Moore, Cole Madison. 2019: Irony here is that the pundants loved Savage and hated Gary picks. But obviously that was backward here. Jenkins was also a great draft move here. Kdar Hollman also a nice find in the 6th, but still topping as a poor nickel/dime CB. Misses were Sternberger, Keke, and increasingly looking like Savage... 2020: The infamous "Love" draft saga... Still hard to know what Love will be, but the draft effect on Rodgers was obvious. He needed a kick in the pants and got it. However, hard to tell if Love is going to be a player or not. Certainly improved this past year. I'll call him TBD for now. Dillon and Runyan are the only clear "hits" here. They rank as average NFL players are their positions, but not stars. Hanson is a good find for a backup C, but his play isn't NFL average. In the 6th round, he is a depth find. Deguara is a bust at this point. Another 3rd round TE that doesn't contribute much. Kamal Martin was interesting... Looked decent (young, raw, athletic), but was a mysterious cut in his second year. So a bust for us. This draft also burnt a lot of draft capitol to move up to get Love and Deguara - neither of whom is actively contributing to our offense. Deguara is out there, but not doing much when on the field. 2021: Stokes and Myers look like the big contributors here. Both have some upside and are currently contributing to "average" level starters. Slaton and SJC are contributing more this year. Hill has shown well in small samples. Rodgers and Newman are trending downwards. Hard to say total busts as they performed well enough to get on the field, but certainly have been going backwards. So I look at this this way: At or near Pro Bowler: Gary, Jenkins, Alexander Starter Level: Myers, Stokes, Dillon, Runyan, Savage(trending down though), MVS (a starting WR is a little nebulous at #3 level) Four drafts that average a little more than 2 starters per draft (being kind to Savage and MVS as starters). That doesn't seem very good to me. Frankly, I think Gute has done much better in "small name" Free Agency (Lewis, Douglas, Campbell, Reed, Davis, Ford, Nixon, O'Donnell) than drafting. Gute's drafting rep is certainly boom or bust. He has some big hits, but a lot of misses also.
  9. Writers aren't paid to be right, but to generate clicks and reads. It is bearish, but he did say "worth" and not a prediction of his actual contract.
  10. Frankly, I'm not sure what to make of this situation... Rodgers hasn't played great, but it isn't like he slipped greatly either. The last couple games he actually played pretty well - and I'm glad to see him move around more instead of stand in the pocket. Gute is hamstrung by the cap (Rodgers being a huge problem), but he hasn't really drafted well either. MLF looked great the first couple years, but the team looks very unprepared this year. Individual players that looked great in the past look pedestrian this year. Barry has a good defense, but it feels like he should be getting so much more out of them. I'm about 50/50 if I feel that they should trade Rodgers and reboot the whole system or try again next year.
  11. Maybe he feels himself royalty and by using "we", he is only referring to himself. ??
  12. Clearly, DS's legacy is twice trading Josh Hader prior to leaving an organization...

  14. Yes, nice to see the Bucks looking strong already. Giannis looks like he is mid-season form. Brooks is moving well and back to blocking everything close. Bobby is doing Bobby things. Interesting to see Halliday and Carter paired in the backcourt. That would be a very tough D against Boston or other guard lead offenses. And we still have our "mid-season trades" coming when Khris and Pat return.
  15. Ok, I'm going to buck the trend and say that the D wasn't really that bad tonight (*ducks*). We looked bad early, but I thought they were pretty solid later. If we had some WRs and an O-line that could block, we could've won that game. Yes, Savage looks like HHCD (actually slightly better). Yes, Walker needs to improve on his run D and aggressiveness overall. Yes, our run D still stinks But regardless, there is still a lot to like going on. But at the end of the day, they did start playing better together and gave the Bills some fits. If we trade for a WR, I'm assuming Watkins is out (assuming Cobb/Lazard come back from injuries). On a team the last two weeks with zero experienced WRs the last two weeks, Watkins has 3 receptions for 21 yards. Maybe we should trade for Jake Kumerow? Toure should be getting reps over Watkins now. Even Rodgers is showing more receiving capabilities than Watkins right now. Pretty night-and-day contrast for Tom moving from Tackle to Guard. Yes, we knew there was a size issue, but pretty rough night for him. I did like that something seemed to "click" with Rodgers last night. He stopped sitting in the pocket and letting it collapse on him and started rolling out and moving around. Not sure if it was play calling or just that he started doing it more. Looks like a bit of his old-self. McDuffie looked surprisingly solid at MLB. Nice to see some depth there. I forgot that Barnes was still on IR. Engebare continues to look like an answer to OLB depth. Those were impressive picks by Jaire and Douglas. I hope this game continues to push them to play with an edge. Stefan Diggs is still an idiot. I wondered who was "right" when he parted ways with the Vikes, but looks like the Vikes were right... and would've been right even if JJ didn't turn out to be a 2x Diggs player (and not a jerk).
  16. When the new UM coach was hired, there was a lot of emphasis made on keeping their in-state talent. Much was made of this connection between Lakeville and WI recruiting. But obviously... not much has changed. ? FYI, I live in Lakeville South school district, so this is very close to "home".
  17. I did finally get to watch the last 3 games (NW, MI-ST, and Purdue - the BIG10 <Game> in 60 is a nice way to review a game quickly). Mertz does look much better than he did early in the season. More confident in his passes, hitting open guys, less indecision. Not sure if the coaching change helped or if he is just a slow starter(as I recall him making decent improvements last year too).
  18. Yes, but the problem with alternative realities is that the Flash will go and muck up the timeline and everything will change again...
  19. So we all can agree that the game was brutal to watch as a Packer fan. But it was also overall brutal to watch... The officials weren't horrid on flags, but my goodness they were s.....l......o.......w.... And the pair calling the game was trash. Maybe they had mic issues? But early in the game there were long gaps with no one talking...but that was actually better than when they did talk. Lots of obvious incorrect analysis, calls, etc... Not quite Jerry Glanville bad, but easily matching Maddon/Summerall at the end of their careers.
  20. I think this article debunked a Crowder trade for me. I think other teams have more value for him since he can be a Giannis-stopper (or slower-downer). But my visions of PJ Tucker 2.0 were burst when I see he shoots a sub-35% 3PTR. https://www.brewhoop.com/2022/10/24/23420729/report-milwaukee-bucks-have-registered-interest-in-jae-crowder-trade-phoenix-suns-nba-rumor Bucks fans that have been clamoring for the team to trade Grayson Allen are largely holding onto his poor performance against Boston in the playoffs (while also conveniently ignoring his stellar performance the series before against Chicago), as well as remembering the fits that Crowder caused for the Bucks as an opponent. Since there is no other viable trade package that Milwaukee can offer, going all-in for Crowder seems like a mistake, especially if it happens before the new year. Getting “a guy somewhat similar to PJ Tucker” is not the same as getting PJ Tucker; that’s not a formula, that’s chasing the dragon. The Bucks should hold off on making any changes until they can see their full team, which means that they ought to make no moves until the trade deadline unless circumstances wildly change.
  21. Agreed. I'm starting to see MLF as a major part of the problem here. No second half adjustments, his unpredictable/flexible/do anything offense seems to be pretty defensible. Yes, we have a skillset issue with our WR right now, but that has been the same problem for the last few years when we find someone with a strong D scheme. I'm not ready to write off Barry's hiring as a failure quite yet (heading there), but it certainly was a questionable one given his other options.
  22. It is funny how quickly people forget the life of signing the Brett Anderson, Josh Lindblom, Wade Miley, J Chacin, Gio Gonzolez, Junior Guerra, and Matt Garzas of the world. We've had 2 years of being able to mostly source our starters internally. We aren't far from being right back there again.
  23. I think part of it is how the Bucks play early in the regular season too. Living in MN, I nearly went to the single Bucks-Timberwolves game last year. I would've except for a conflict. Then Giannis sat the whole game. I would've been miffed to go to the game and not see our star player. Not all of us have OSS $$$ to drop $1k on tickets. ?
