  1. I don't know how much value Ashby has in a trade given his cost is more in line with an SP then RP. And he isn't consistent enough to be relied upon as a closer. I'd keep Contreras. I was on the trade Megill bandwagon last year as he looked like he was regressing. He proved me wrong so far, but that doesn't mean you don't ship him out for the right package.
  2. In the time that Rengifo has been with SD, Joey Ortiz has an OPS+ of 146...
  3. I'm disappointed that the Family Night has basically become watching practice but in Lambeau. The thing that made it special was that it was more of a scrimmage than just drills. Honestly, it wouldn't' be terribly hard to organize your drills in a manner that looks much more like a scrimmage. You already have the game scenarios... just organize teams and have more of a point system for the team that "wins" the drill.

  5. I've had that vibe from Sproat also... but I also get Ashby vibes; relegated to the BP and can be great or terrible while never being terribly consistent because they can't always control their stuff.
  6. If we win a WS this year and May beats Skubal along the way, I think @Ron Robinsons Beard should rename himself to "Dustin Mays Hair". 😂
  7. So what are the chances of Skubal and May going head-to-head in the playoffs? A little Dodger payback for giving up on May??
  8. Every year we grouse about the "valuable" prospects we trade away, lose via rule 5 draft, or DFA... yet most of the time, those players end up being fringe MLB players at best. I'd love to see a summary of players lost by Arnold that actually made MLB rosters and their WAR. There have been a few (Olson, Fry) that end up giving positive MLB impact to their next team, but so many of our prospects rated 10+ get a cup of coffee at the MLB level or never make it at all. I remember people complaining about giving away David Hamilton to get out of JBJ's contract...now here we have him back and trying to replace him (as a starter, he is ok as a utility guy). Maybe one of Ragsdale or Frias becomes a good/great MLB player, but the odds are against it.
  9. Agreed. Pena is a couple of years away from being "blocked" at the MLB level. Him playing AA next year doesn't diminish his value at all. If anything, being healthy for a full year helps him. Crow will remain a SP backup for a couple of years and then follow Patrick to the pen. Cheap SP depth is very valuable. Adams just needs to prove he can play a full season before he can have full value.
  10. PCA the ball player, Jackson the person. Also this (jumping after Chourio's HR ball ironically):
  11. My wife and I are enjoying the Young Sherlock Holmes series on Prime. We haven't gotten through season 1 yet, but it is hard to not binge watch the whole thing. First half of the season was pretty fast-pace and now in the second half it slowed and became a bit more cerebral. The feel of the show is like a cross between the Robert Downey Jr Sherlock movies and Knives Out. It is basically how a college aged Sherlock becomes the super sleuth version of himself. The series has his brother Mycroft and eventual enemy (current best friend) Moriarity teamed up with Sherlock in trying to solve several mysteries wrapped together.
  12. @Jake McKibbin, now do Yelich. His swing looks completely lost this year. Though I doubt it is his swing and more about pitch recognition (i.e. flailing at pitches and looking like he is guessing).
  13. Just a horrible time for your LS to get injured when you are working in a rookie kicker. Kicking is very timing dependent, so it is hard to get in the rhythm. Not saying it's all the LS issue, but hard to tell much right now.
  14. But we are looking at catcher stats and not runner. Quero specifically.
  15. Best shape of his career!!!
  16. We need @sveumrules to invent a CS+ metric so we can see caught stealing rates against the league average. 😏
  17. Quero doesn't hit enough to be a 1B. If he can't get back to average CS rates, I don't see how he plays in the MLB.
  18. Yes, I'd certainly do that if that is what the Angels wanted. Quero's arm doesn't seem to be bouncing back and AAA players are running wild on him (93 attempts, 16% CS).
  19. Honestly, I'd go further than that. Sit him for the month of August. I'm sure a "back flare-up" can justify the vacation. Bring him back in Sept to get his timing back and hopefully get hot in Oct. Its been a long time since Yelich has been hot in the playoffs... 2018 2019 2020 2021 2022 2023 2024 2025 2026 Mar/Apr 764 1264 N/A 826 727 656 1166 719 826 May 928 935 N/A 672 695 842 872 754 710 June 776 1149 N/A 844 764 912 787 936 682 July 1095 1112 220 628 856 1015 1008 690 681 Aug 1030 939 937 829 724 676 N/A 973 TBD Sept/Oct 1313 1237 789 620 689 817 N/A 653 TBD Overall 1000 1100 786 736 738 818 909 795 701
  20. Watched it last night and it was ok. A cross between Babe, Wallace and Grommet, and Knives Out.
  21. Meh. Aim higher. Thomas is barely better than Frelick this year and worse over the past few years. I'm not even sure Thomas is a better option than Lockridge right now. This wouldn't really do anything for the Brewers except lose an OF next year.
  22. There is a difference between DFAing a McCullers (who you just traded for and was struggling massively) and Yelich who was a major part of your team for many, many years. You do handle the end of careers for long-time franchise players a little differently than others (or at least try to).
