  1. I figured Cheech and Chong debunked the "weed not addictive" thing in the 70s!
  2. If you are doing pork ribs, the only way to be "fall off the bone" is to boil or steam. But I would challenge if you really want it that way? If the meat is tender, well-smoked, and it takes a light pull off the bone, I think it is better anyway.
  3. I've seen a few comps, but how about a LH Mike Trout? Not to be too "over the top", but both are big CF with strong arms, easy speed, drafted late first round (not to open a wound here). Trout's power was probably more certain at draft time, but one profile I found from 2010, said it was a wide range of projection from 15-25+HR/year. Swing wise, they are probably different, but a number of good comparisons. I've also seen a lot of boom-bust comments, but I wonder how much "bust" there really is in Mitchell's profile? Seems like he would profile (at worst) as a light hitting, plus-defense center fielder, which is a common MLB profile (i.e. Keon Broxton with better contact and lower power). So a pretty decent floor there also.
  4. I'm kind of hoping the Bucks can be the 19-20-21 NBA champs (one season)...
  5. I think part of the clash comes with a generational view of sporting events. I think older generations (boomers) see sporting events (Olympics and beyond) more as a nationalistic/patriotic mentality. I'm a genX and tend to feel that way a bit more than not. I prefer to have the national anthem at the events. I remove my cap, hand over my heart and sing the words. I get where some people don't/won't. And I certainly see a different level of "entertainment" value than a movie or concert. (Though I won't complain if you don't agree. ) It would seem that the attitude of patriotism in sports is diminishing with each generation. I suppose the amount of money in it has driven it more to a commercial business and less a pastime. The only problem I had with the players kneeling was that they were representing their team and not themselves at that time (i.e. put on the uniform and you are working). I really appreciated it when teams started doing a uniform response - unity as a team. And I've heard something similar lately with the Packers. Teams raise awareness to prostate cancer, breast cancer, etc.. I think a uniform response to BLM is wise too. But I've never been a fan of the individualistic attitude that some players have, whether an individual kneeling or signing a ball with a hidden sharpie when scoring a TD at a time you are to be working as a team. (And no, I'm not equating the reason/cause between Kapernick and Owens by my examples).
  6. I wonder if no crowd might actually benefit the Bucks. Giannis really struggled on the road at the FT line last year in the playoffs. Hack-a-G might not be as effective.
  7. How about this? [sarcasm]Just cancel the season[/sarcasm] AND award the Buck's the championship? Not sure if I'm serious or not...
  8. I think we should trade him to the Jets.
  9. Sign him, trade him, pick him back up! Lather, rinse, repeat...
  10. If you only get one cup of coffee, you might as well make it a grande triple vanilla latte, half sweet with cream and caramel drizzle.
  11. Not sure why. He was very good until the Brewers burnt him out. Doesn't Mark Kotsay get any CF love?
  12. Trades are "simple" for cap hit. The signing bonus is accelerated to the trading team (i.e. Packers) while the new team is responsible for base salary and during the year bonuses. I just googled for Rodger's contract info. The site I used, had the signing bonus, base salaries and other bonuses broken out nicely.
  13. Well, the LeBrons, Giannises, Jordans, Nowitzkis were all picks at some point. If he is set on leaving, you take the best package back and try to rebuild. It's not like we can tie him up and hide him in the closet... or could we?
  14. If traded, Rodger's cap hit would be $22M, $25.5M, and $25.5M in 2021-2023 instead of $36.3M, $39.8M, and $28.3M cap hit for the Packers. Plus anyone trading for Rodgers could cut him at any time without any dead cap hit afterward.
  15. I would be stunned if Favre manages his own money. I know if I had his money, I wouldn't be managing it personally. I doubt he had $1.1M sitting in his checking account. I'd guess that his accountants received the money and invested it. Then needed to liquidate the funds again to pay it back.
  16. DT Treyvon Hester is signed for DL depth. Normally a footnote, but it was Hester that tipped the Bear's FG that resulted in the double-doink! I can imagine that if he makes the team, there might be some "fun" to be had during the two Bears game this year.
  17. Just because they didn't win it in a typical fashion, doesn't mean they didn't earn it.
  18. I could never cheer for the Lions or Bears. NC Dinos it is!
  19. To be an even comparison, all the FAs that Favre threw probably should be excluded from consideration. If its to compare how the team invested draft capitol in support of a superstar QB, FAs (especially ones that were low-cost FAs or end of career trades) don't really support the narrative.
  20. Big Dog would be horrible in today's game. His offense was the antithesis of today's game.
  21. 1st round picks are nice. How would that look like if you counted TDs from WRs that went to at least one Pro-Bowl? That group of DD, Jennings, Cobb, Nelson and Adams was a really talented group of guys. Given Rodgers was throwing to them for a good chunk of his career, why would you be drafting 1st round WRs? Granted, they didn't transition off those players well...
  22. I think it's completely backwards. Not in terms of Jordan's impact on ISO ball, but the defense. The adjustments and added emphasis to the hand check rules have allowed for wings to score much more easily since...what, 2004 than prior to that. Before that, the game was dominated by big men and Jordan's scoring was an outlier. Since then the scoring has been dominated almost primarily by wing players because the rules made it easier, not harder to score. As for the touch fouls...I think you're being more than a little harsh with Jordan on that one. He was on the recieving end of SOO many fouls that would not be called flagrant and to infer that it's not only NOT different today or that it's not even worse today I'd refer you to one Harden, James. Also...you could double team whenever you wanted when Jordan played. You just couldn't guard space. But the Dunks? I really don't see how it would have been easier for Giannis back than OTHER than more bigs played more regularly then and he'd have had an easier time getting around them. And he'd have paid a price far more often for going up. After seeing those highlights from the '89 playoffs I strongly agree. Jordan was getting absolutely hammered by the Pistons. Some of those highlights looked more like a hockey game, refs intentionally looking the other way, etc. Not sure how you can watch that and not come out with more respect for MJ. I'll give you Detroit on the rough defense. The rest of the league wasn't close to the Bad Boys. And those series were pretty rough. But that was more the exception than the rule. Jordan was the origin of the phantom call... I watched way too many games against the Bucks or in the playoffs where the refs bailed him out. That has continues with the superstars of today (Giannis included), but being able to play more zone ball does mitigates that somewhat. If the 90s Detroit team had to play with today's rules, the whole team would be suspended 4 games into the season with Bill Lambeer in jail... Teams with dominant centers on defense had to go chase the Bulls center had on the far side of the court and opened the lane up. When they did postup in the triangle offense, it was to setup a Jordan drive or jumper. Toronto's defense against the Bucks in the 2019 playoffs was illegal in the 90s. They were floating half-way between Giannis and their man. Close enough to help either direction, but not close enough to either to be in "man". If they had to play with 90s rules, that extra step or two toward Giannis or their man would make a huge difference. BTW, I prefer the current style of play. I never liked the 90s iso ball. If you didn't have a superstar, you automatically lost. Not to mention it was boring to watch. Jordan was an artist with the ball 1on1, but if felt like watching a pick-up game with 8 guys watching on the side.
  23. [sarcasm]That should fit the need. Fixed. Why waste a draft pick.[/sarcasm]
  24. No, he is a free agent. Not that we have lost any production...
