  1. So given that we will be drafting at the end of the first round and possibly a compensation pick... that just pushes us further back.
  2. Bad choice. Being overdrafted (rated in to 50-70 range) and given a chance at #25 slot money was a jackpot for him. Throw in the typical 4 year college tuition that normally accompanies these contracts makes this a no-brainer.
  3. Thumbs down. Simply from the point that I paid for a MLB subscription so that I can watch it on my TV. And the MLB.TV app won't carry these games. I've not actually seen any of them on Facebook.
  4. Well, Cleveland just got a lot worse.
  5. [sarcasm]Yes, but can he pitch?[/sarcasm]
  6. Except he isn't a center. He is a stretch PF. He is Teletovic 2.0. Blah. Were you confusing him with Zaza Pachulia? I would've preferred we resigned Greg Monroe with that money...
  7. Long term plans no, but they didn't trade for him just to jettison him either. As long as he is half-decent, I'd guess Nottingham waits a year. No guarantees that he makes an immediate MLB impact...
  8. I think you meant, "No one that knows the space time continuum was expecting him to be 2017 Nelson in 2018 at any point." But I think most people (baseball or not) expected him back at the mid-point of the season at least.
  9. In the week since Ryan underwent the cryo treatment on the thumb, he has hit: 333/368/611/980. Even if he can keep his OPS around 850 for the rest of the year, it would be a huge boost to the outfield. Having Braun/Cain/Yelich out there regularly hitting around 850 OPS would really help the offense.
  10. Zu-whatever over Ramirez is really disappointing...
  11. Range. They had Thames in RF on the road because RF was smaller in that ballpark. CC said he would only play LF at home
  12. Beauty of a diving catch by Braun. I didn't think he had a chance, but he got it.
  13. Ah... we didn't draft Gary Trent (Jr that is).
  14. Why can’t Herrera or any other good bullpen arm be a target for the Brewers? Could be a target, but should be a lower priority. Pushing the worst reliever from the BP is a very small gain compared to shoring up other areas where bigger gains could be had. Will be interesting to see if this gets the hot stove cooking earlier. [sarcasm]Technically the Brewers started the Hot Stove by trading for Kratz.[/sarcasm]
  15. I'd put money down that Kratz has a higher WAR in the last month than Rijo will have in a career. Good trade.
  16. [sarcasm]Maybe he can give Santana some pointers?[/sarcasm]
  17. I'm guessing Hiura's defense is better judged by scouting at this point than numbers. A very small sample size at a position he has barely played and having some errors right now is going to mask any real potential that he may/may not hold.
  18. And if it weren't for that late start, we wouldn't have been able to draft him in the late teens and sign him through the draft and follow process.
  19. Or is CheezWizhed Rosiak? Bah. I don't even have a JSonline subscription. I do wish I could get some kick-backs for the story ideas however. There have been a few that are eerily similar to some of my Packer threads too... I should say "could've" claimed it a career year. My premise is that he should be able to manage a 450 SLG (career average) rather than 505 (career best). Not that his career will never get better.
  20. I'm ok with saying 2017 was a statistical outlier because I didn't compare his 2018 to 2017. I compared it to his career numbers (including the really bad Houston numbers). His 2018 average is .006 points lower than career average His 2018 OBP is .026 points lower than career. But his 2018 SLG is .090 points lower. So theoretically he is hitting/walking just under his career norms, but slugging far lower. If we were to compare 2017 to 2018, I think "career year in 2017" is pretty easy to explain. But why he can't manage a 450 SLG nor get close is pretty surprising. I wonder if there is some nagging injury that hasn't been disclosed?
  21. I keep having to do double takes when I see Domingo's OPS. Looking at his AVE and OBP, he is pretty close to his career numbers, but his SLG fell off a cliff this year. Any thoughts? 2018: 254/322/362/683 Career: 260/348/452/800
  22. Unfortunately, I heard that he might be playing LF some when he comes back.
  23. In crossed my mind that they might be targeting bats more in the draft and acquiring pitchers by other means as a general approach. In the last 3 drafts, Lemons is the highest drafted pitcher (2nd round, third pick of that draft). And you have to go back to 2014 when they picked Kodi Medeiros in the first round. Seems like they have been favoring 3-5th round pitchers more (6 pitchers of those 8 picks in the last 3 drafts). I kind of doubt that it is an intended focus and probably more the way the draft fell, but its been a while since we were pitcher heavy at the top.
  24. Fixed. And I’m not a huge Hernan guy. Fixed and fixed.
  25. BINGO! I had no information on this, I just tried to profile the player type, and in the range the Brewers were picking in, Turang fit. Well done!
