  1. I'd pass on Jennings. Just because he is a LHP doesn't mean he is better than another RHP on the roster...
  2. Hader And Later 9000! (HAL 9000 for short)
  3. From a logistics point of view a MIL/HOU match-up would remove weather from the equation. There is just something depressing about watching baseball played in the cold: Walks are increased, BA decreases, everyone looks miserable.
  4. [sarcasm]CC Sabathia and Bartolo Colon. Getting the best price per pound![/sarcasm]
  5. Danzig, I had the same issue back in the 90s when Favre started with the Packers and brought us to the playoffs with a championship caliber team and lost three straight years to the Cowboys. I was crushed for days. And similar to you, I had to back off a lot and realize that it wasn't healthy. At the end of the day, its a game. We are fans. Our team is human. Its been great and amazing to watch this run we are on and enjoy every anxiety packed minute. And I want to win a World Series very badly to get out of the "never-been" category. But even if we lose, remember that it we have had a great season even to this point. If it helps on perspective, go remember how bad 2002 was...
  6. Building Miller Park really helped start the draw. Being able to play baseball in bad weather made it easier to draw fans from around the state and made it a great activity on a bad weather day. Then you start putting a good product on the field and people start coming. In fact, if you think about the state of Wisconsin sports in the late 80s, it was really bad. We had an exciting team in 87, but nothing to show for it. The Badgers football and basketball really didn't do much at all. The Packers were bad. The Bucks made the playoffs but lost the first round every year. Then Barry Alvarez took over the football team and they have been top 25 nearly every year. The Badger basketball team had its spurts with Dick Bennett, but really took off under Bo Ryan. Ron Wolf, Mike Holmgren, and Brett Favre made the Packers a playoff regular and won the first Super Bowl in my lifetime. Building Miller Park bumped up the Brewer support and helped Melvin bring the Brewers back to the playoffs since the early 80s. Now hopefully Stearns will have us there as regulars and bring us our first World Series. The Bucks haven't been able to get over that hump to NBA championship material, but with Giannis there is some hope. At least they are exciting.
  7. So a couple busy days has me just now here at the thread, but I figured I'd share my game story. I'm stuck at work and typically have meetings most of the day (manager). Somehow, a few meetings were cancelled and I was able to work at my desk while listening to Ueck the whole time... Until it was the bottom of the 9th. 3PM and we have a meeting schedule, but the organizer is in France for the week. But of course, he has a backup that runs a pretty pointless meeting for 30 min. All the while I'm trying to figure out what is going on in the game. Of course, I work in MN, where they have pretty much given up on sports (Twins are out, Vikings are losing, Gophers are terrible, even the Lynx couldn't win this year). So finally, the meeting ends and I was able to find the outcome. But it was so ironic that it was exactly at the bottom of the ninth. And I enjoyed razzing a couple Cubs fan in the office.
  8. With all the accolades given Yelli on TV ("no one in MLB is doing this!"), if JD Martinez was in the NL, he would be the triple crown winner (329/42/127). In the AL, he only leads RBIs and is second in the other two. Possible WS matchup?
  9. I'm guessing the Buffalo that got beat twice this season. Bulaga looked terrible for the first half of the Bears game, but has looked good since.
  10. To be fair, its been far more of a rivalry from the Brewer's point of view than the Cubs. Kind of like the last 20 years of Packer/Bear football. The Brewers start winning and taking the Central and all of that changes.
  11. Guess what you get when you turn a Cubs victory upside down? The Cubs W: Becomes a Milwaukee M! http://news.sportslogos.net/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Milwaukee-Brewers-New-Logo-2018.png
  12. Wow. Really strange year for Lynn. 3.38 ERA in 6 years with St Louis (with no year over 4.00). Over 5 ERA with the Twins. I'm curious how he will do as a Yank. Seems his BB/9 is the main stat out of whack with his career numbers.
  13. I think the concern is that if his K rate is high in the minors, he simply won't make enough contact to even sniff that at the MLB level. If he can maintain a 340+OBP at the MLB level, I would agree. In the past, guys with a high K rate in the minors get worse at the MLB level and don't sniff a 300 OBP. However, I do feel Ray can top that. Its been interesting to watch him come around. Some guys just need longer than others.
  14. Yes, I'm very frustrated by this. I had irrationally high hopes for him. Just someone that I thought would blossom into an Antonia Gates-lite type of player.
  15. Aren't the umps that review the challenges located in NY? Makes you go Hmmmm....
  16. [sarcasm]Ban Hammer![/sarcasm]
