  1. Seriously people? Just because his skills have slipped doesn't mean that he can't teach someone how to pitch. He was no Greg Maddux, but he still logged >2500 IP in the bigs. Might as well make an avatar with a dog pooping on a picture of Jeff Suppan...
  2. Probably. But he hasn't proven it and didn't start all the well either. Hence "still needs to prove".
  3. Either way, crazy to be in a position to fire/get fired by one of your best friends. Maybe it was a mercy killing. If the seat is hot enough, he may have wanted out.
  4. Mat Gamel is hurt by this comment Mat is a legit DH candidate. He still needs to prove he can play somewhere in the field... In other news... every time I hear "Brock Kjeldgaard", I think "Brooks Keishnick" and that probably isn't a bad thing. Similar names, power hitters, switched between hitter/pitcher, can't spell either of their last names...
  5. and Komatsu profiles like a 4th OF in this organization, I'm not sure how they'll ever fit his bat in the line-up. I think it depends a lot on how you build your team. As reports come out that Komatsu isn't going to handle CF on a consistent basis, I've wondered how well he would fit in RF. It seems that defensively, he would handle RF well (from what I've heard). With Hart in RF right now, I would think that Komatsu would improve on that. It would seem that Komatsu will provide a high OBP and low(er) SLG RF with decent defense. Then it occurred to me that it sounded a lot like Ichiro Suzuki. Not saying Komatsu would be that good, but his profile sounds very much the same. He could also double as your backup CF (as Ichiro has done in the past). I can see him providing a ~800 OPS (based on a high OBP) and being a #1 or #2 type hitter in the lineup while at RF. Now, I tend to agree that his most likely location would be as a 4th OF, but I don't think its that big of a stretch to think he could meet those expectations also.
  6. The New Orleans camera"work" is just... special Behind the firewall, I can't see this one, but if its anything like the other night, they might as well, just put cameras in fixed locations and zoomed out to see the whole stadium. My 5 year old with a camcorder could do better.
  7. It's not a matter of can we, it's "should we". I don't think committing 7-8 years to Prince is really wise, as great as he is. I don't know, it might be that long before our minor league system is built back up anyway... (Not sure if that should be in blue or not)
  8. It's clearly his elbow. I wrote up a post like this earlier today, but then passed. Should have left it. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  9. Wow. This has to be the most boring thread at BF.net... everyone agrees. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif I agreed with the decision to keep Nieves over Kotteras during ST, but now... bring back George.
  10. He's certainly making me look bad for hating on him. If he keeps this up for another couple of weeks I might have to quietly sneak back on the bandwagon after a year + hiatus.I'm not even sure they guy had a bandwagon before this. He should have been the POM, as he outhit Morris. Anyone know how he is in LF? Reliever Brian Garman didn't need his GPS to find the plate in three scoreless follow-up innings, only one walk (been waiting all season for that one, yes, I know it's spelled Garmin). ERA recalculating....
  11. Anyway, back to Taylor Green. He'll be better than Brantley. I will win in the end. That made me smirk (if its true, I'll smile).
  12. It was "Police Squad!" actually, but still a great reference: DOH! I was remembering a shoe shine at an airport. But it was just a shoe shine on the street. Anyway, found a link on YouTube. Classic:
  13. The only way I see us getting Reyes is if we trade Fielder to team X, team X provides the Mets with prospects, and the Mets give us Reyes. Then we callup Gamel to play 1B.
  14. In other words, Brewerfan kicking butt (again) for you. And its much appreciated! Especially seeing some of the posts coming at 3AM...
  15. It will be interesting to watch if Cappy or Narveson ends up with better numbers at years end. I was one who advocated signing Cappy to compete with Narv, with the loser in the BP.
  16. Geez, Brewers. Show some class. ¡Mantén la clase, Cerveceros! Final: DSL Brewers 13, @DSL Cardinals 5 Sin clase. ¡Bravo!
  17. Schafer beats em all to the majors. He's starting to hit and he'll be in AAA soon ready for a late season call up. If you are looking for a Cain-esque progression to the majors, I wouldn't hold my breath. I like Schafer, but he barely has any AA at bats. I can almost guarantee he stays at AA for the rest of the year.
  18. Are you sure that is Lee Haydel or Earl Hickey?
  19. Gagnon becomes the 19th Dirtbag Beyond the obvious joke here, he could resurrect some of the old Gagne (or similar) jokes...
  20. Wow! I'd agree. Call a timeout or something. So was it something like this? Hello? Doug Melvin? You say I've been drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers? YEEEERRRRR OUUUUUTT!!!!!
  21. That was Jack Z's Achilles heel: Drafting pitching.
  22. This is always one of my favorite areas to look at every year. Although, it seems the Brewers did better with draft-and-follow than with drafting late and over-slot signing. I don't follow players at all pre-draft, so I have no idea of the answer to this. But knowing the Brewers, I could make an educated guess: ROUND 16: Carlos Rodon - LHP ROUND 17: Mario Amaral - C ROUND 18: Chris McFarland - SS ROUND 19: Renaldo Jenkins - SS Just because the late teens is where the Brewers have traditionally gone after these types. And they all are HS grads with commitments to good college programs. Both of the SS interest me from their profiles, and its not because McFarland looks like Deon Sanders nor because Jenkins looks like Wesley Snipes (or Willie Mays Hayes if you prefer). http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif I've said somewhere before that I'd put money on the Brewers signing one of them, given the lack of SS in the system and in the early rounds of the draft.
  23. Wow, that was a depressing walk through history... I was surprised how many #5 picks we made, though.
  24. Round 18: SS Christopher McFarland Sounds like one of our draft-and-attempt-to-sign-over-slot picks every year. Interesting, especially since he is a SS. edit- actually, I'd put money down that the Brewers will sign at least one of Jenkins and McFarland...
