  1. What do people think Corey Kemps ultimate position will be? I saw him once this year and was really impressed with his bat (only 1-4, but everything jumped off his bat). But I see that he splits his time between C, DH and 1B... Is that an indication that they don't think he can stick at catcher? Or is that more of the low A-ball way of getting more people the change to catch? Granted his 10% CS rate isn't anything to write home about...
  2. Wouldn't it be a kicker if soft-toss Chris Cody succeeds where fire-baller Jose Capellan did not (although he never seemed to light it up as a Brewer...).
  3. Ok, I need a rule clarification here... If he had stayed on 2nd and someone got a hit/walk/HBP/whatever, is it automatically out when a runner reaches 1st? If he steals 3rd and is driven in by a sac fly (i.e. no one reaches 1st), can he score without tagging up (assuming the ump realized he didn't tag up)?
  4. The main problem I have with "stuff" being tied to an ace is this: Gregg Maddux and Tom Glavine of the 1990s. Neither one was overpowering, but had unbelievable control. Both were aces, but without the Roger Clemens/Nolan Ryan/Randy Johnson "stuff". Assuming Gallardo gets more track record at his current pace (i.e. total MLB innings, not just this year), he has to be considered an Ace.
  5. Maybe EY should have added that MB has difficulty counting to three.
  6. Dumb question here, but is Eric Young the same EY that played for the Brewers? Shame on him....
  7. Now, I hope he lives up to the quote. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  8. "It was a great selection of awesome" That HAS to follow Arnett around. We should make some t-shirts or something. In fact, I think I just found my signature...
  9. That includes Weeks? Wow. Allow me to be a broken record for a minute...We need to acquire a lead off hitter. Ideally one that can play 2B. That can't be with Weeks. Our 2B has been the leadoff 90% (guess) of the time. And as Ender mentioned above, here are their lines: Non-Weeks .282/.348/.472/.820. Weeks .272/.340/.517/.857 Which both are way better than listed as leadoff...
  10. Standing at the window a father waves his hand in a grand gesture and says: "Someday son, this will all be yours." "What? The curtains?" One of my all time favorite movie lines.
  11. Ben Sheets always enjoyed the sun/shadow lines. Seems like his biggest KO days were day games (Atlanta w/ 18 KO). Normally, it seems to work to our advantage, we just didn't use it yesterday. All parks seem to have their quirks and normally it isn't a serious issue.
  12. I have a feeling it was more a reaction to depth in SPs at the AAA level. If Brae Wright doesn't need TJ surgery, I doubt he moves back to starting.
  13. 24? Why wouldn't they keep it the same as MLB? I suppose having 35 at the rookie levels does help, but there still is only one ball... I have a feeling that we will see the Brewers keep a lot more HS kids in AZ this year.
  14. On the shelf with Tommy John surgery.Blast! I didn't see that one...
  15. So with so many college kids headed to Helena, where does that leave Lintz, Romanski and Odorizzi ? I can see Odorizzi going to A ball this year, but I doubt they would skip Lintz over Helena. an Romanksi was hurt most of last year wasn't he? Seems like a pretty big group of HS pictures from last year's draft colliding with the college pitchers from this year's. What is the roster limits for Helena and AZ clubs? 25- same as others? edit-spelling: Why can't we draft pitchers named Smith or Jones? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  16. I doubt Dillard's K/BB rate is going to stay so low, its quite a difference from his norm. Minor league average of 2.56 and in AAA of 1.68 as SP and 1.96 as RP. In the past, as an SP, his FB ranged 90-92. As an RP, his FB jumped to 94-95. So I think his future is going to be like Seth McClung: RP and spot starter. He was my darkhorse candidate to make the bullpen, so I was rather surprised that they put him back as a SP. Perhaps the influx of pitchers at the lower levels will cause a chain reaction up to AAA and kick Dillard back to RP?
  17. Maybe they will go back to the piggy-back system at A ball to keep more SPs and less RPs at that level. I would be surprised if there isn't a large bump up at mid-season also (JJ, Anundsen, Wooten, Braddock to AA, Peralta, Meadows, Bowman, Scarpetta to A+). Does make quite a logjam, though.
  18. With all these OFers being drafted, any chance of one or two being converted to a 1B right away? That seems to be a system weakness right now (save for Prince).
  19. Any opinions on where Arnett will start or how long it will take to the majors? How does college level ball compare with minors? High A? I know every college player is a bit different, but do we expect his development to be along the lines of JJ or ?
  20. What happened to the MLB draft tracker? It just froze
  21. "Can't mention the Red Sox without the Yankees being far behind" What, is MLB TV a ESPN wannabe?
  22. MLB Scouting report: It's not a great Draft class for college bats, particularly in the outfield, so one with the athleticism Jackson has is bound to be noticed. He runs well on both sides of the ball, has a decent approach at the plate and plays a good center field right now. Some may see him as a tweener who isn't a leadoff hitter or a No. 3 type. If he gets bigger he will have to move to a corner, where how much power he actually has becomes a bigger question. He's got more value if he can stay in center, and the team that takes him may be hoping he can stay put. Sounds like Corey Patterson to me... :D
  23. X calls it again! Bravo!
