  1. We just got rid of Melvin! High end catchers are always interesting, even if we have to take BJ back.
  2. Two trades I would do. Johnson fills the hole for two years and Kivlehan looks like a good power hitting 3b for the future. It might cost a little more than Davis, which I am ok with.
  3. How about this trade... Cody Asche 3B $1 mill Ryan Howard 1B $25 plus 10 mill for Franco Rodriquez RP $7.5 plus 2 mill Matt Garza SP $12.5 plus 12.5 mill Trade Lind for prospects and save $8 mill Let Howard play the first half of the season (I know he can hardly run) and see if he can rebound hitting wise , then trade him (AL DH playoff team) if you can or dump if you can't. We end up Asche, prospects (from Lind trade), and more prospects (maybe) for Howard and save $6.5 mill And why would Philly do that? They get two vets for a young player when they are rebuilding. Sure, they dump Howard but they get back a cheaper junk contract and a guy in Rodriguez they have no use for because they have Giles. One man's junk is another man's prize. They might think Garza will rebound and then 12.5x 2 doesn't look so bad. KRod might be that 8th inning guy they crave. Far fetched, maybe, but you never know.

  5. 1. Orlando Arcia 2. Jorge Lopez 3. Zach Davies 4. Brett Phillips 5. Brent Suter 6. Gilbert Lara 7. Trent Clark 8. Joantgel Segovia 9. Clint Coulter 10. Devin Williams 11. Kodi Medeiros 12. Josh Hader 13. Tyler Cravy 14. Michael Reed 15. Tyler Wagner 16. Tyrone Taylor 17. Yhonathan Barrios 18. Wei-Chung Wang 19. Adrian Houser 20. Monte Harrison 21. Jorge Ortega 22. Yadiel Rivera 23. Marcos Diplan 24. Demi Orimoloye 25. Cody Ponce Suter, Cravy, and Wagner are still a few of my favorites. I need more to throw them away.
  6. Casey McGehee, yes I said it, Casey McGehee. One year, 3.5 million. He can platoon at first and play at third without being a total disaster. If he has a great first half (25% chance), trade his behind for whatever you can get. If he falls on his face (35% chance), you did not spend much in money or length of contract. That leave a 40% chance he is just Casey McGehee. He has always been a good clubhouse guy.
  7. I agree. The one game I saw him play at 3B in the Chattanooga series, he was quite good at the hot corner. I know he does not have a lot of power, but maybe he can be the future until we have a future 3B. A MLB career backup would be ok.
  8. I went to the game last night and here are a few take aways.... 1.Yady might be our 3B of the future. Great fielding with not a lot of power, I can live with that. He made a great play with a man at third and less than two outs field a ball next to the bad, almost tagging the runner out then throwing the hitter out...it was very impressive. 2.Berrios has great stuff and is still learning how to pitch. Two plus innings of plus 95 mph fastballs. Once (if) he figures out to pitch, we will have a powerful closer. 3.Tyler Wagner reminds me of Cravy. A pitcher first with a number of different pitches. Seems like his best days are ahead of him. 4.The Shuckers should have won this going away. I was just waiting for the big inning. Our young hitters are not afraid to take a walk, which was kind of frustrating when they were not plated. One to go, go Shuckers!
  9. Lopez dominates a Shuckers take a 1-0 lead. One down, two to go. I am going to Chattanooga Saturday to see game three. Can't wait.
  10. At best Davis is Ben Ogilvie Lite (being about the fifth or sixth best batter in a very good batting order, striking out a lot and hitting lots of home runs). If you just like home runs, he is your guy. I will up my proposed trade to Wil Smith (I really like Smith) plus another piece to the puzzle.
  11. Santana is younger, faster, a better defender and cheaper longer. Trade Davis for equal value, he has 21 HR as of today. You should be able to get some quality back. A Wil Smith type would be just fine. A corner infielder of quality would be better.
  12. On to round two!
  13. Is anyone taking notice of the superior pitching at AA not only in the playoffs, but also in the regular season. The second wave of starting pitchers looks better than the first wave.
  14. Is he hurt or just sitting the bench?
