  1. Context?? Probably means Hendrix, the Reds’ pitcher who gave up two homers in the 11th. Ahhh. Thanks. I was about to check the guitarist spelling.
  2. Context??
  3. Ideally, they’ll hope to capture some Stearns magic, buy, and sell all at the same time by trading Kris Bryant for JBJ.
  4. I think the D-backs City-Connect jerseys are orders of magnitude better than their regular ombre-laden kits. I actually kind of like the Boston ones. They look like a regular baseball uniform, and the Boston Marathon is a thing worth celebrating. The Marlins have a Miami flair built into their brand, so I've got no beef with theirs. The Giants celebrate fog??? That seems dumb. Both Chicago teams look like bad suits. Navy on navy and black on black just don't look good as a baseball uniform.
  5. I'm all for live and let live. But based on what his agent said, he engages in some risky stuff. It seems like a thing that would always leave your career and celebrity status hanging by a thread. I'm hoping for the best, but I don't know what that is in this case.
  6. I’d guess that this means Wong is healthy and we can send Pablo Reyes back to AAA. Maybe Ashby starts Wednesday?
  7. THIS! His looping swing path seemed to have a hole in it for any fastball at the belt or higher. The last few games, it seems like he has been getting his straight to the ball, rather than down and then back up to the ball.
  8. I’m optimistic because he has more walks than strikeouts at the moment. That seems to be a pretty rare skill.
  9. Things are never in a vacuum… I was just thinking about how much this trade allowed us to absorb the Shaw injury. Apparently, Urias can hit, field, and throw in a super utility role, but do none of those while playing SS.
  10. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/fangraphs-audio-eric-longenhagen-and-dan-szymborski-do-frisk-assessment/ Dan and Eric talked about Keston from about 43:30 to the end of the podcast. They mentioned that when he faces a fastball above 93mph (including MiLB), he whiffed 180 times and put the ball in play 126 times, roughly a 3 whiff to 2 BIP ratio. By comparison, Wander Franco has a 1 whiff to 3 BIP ratio. I'm really interested to see what he does on those sorts of pitches going forward. Essentially, can he tune back in to a big league fastball?
  11. One of the best early returns is only one swinging strike by Keston. Yes, it’s only three at bats, but it’s something.
  12. I know the proof is in the results, but does anyone have a spin rate comparison for Woody?
  13. My hopes - ranked... 1. Keston makes it clear that we don't need to trade for a 1B. 2. Keston makes it clear that we do need to trade for a 1B.
  14. I was wondering if they'd just decide to play a man short. If the right guy isn't on the taxi squad, then is the trip out to Arizona worth it for one game?
  15. His name is Trey. It is highly appropriate to say it three times.
  16. On June 2nd, the Twins called up Gilberto Celestino directly from AA. It looks like he played on May 30 in Wichita and then on June 2nd for the Twins. Does anyone know what enabled him to move quickly despite COVID protocols?
  17. I was at the Wednesday night game in Gwinnett (AAA Braves). I thought his leg kick was more of a slide too. I didn't take notes or anything, but iirc, he had very few swinging strikes. Most strikes against him were foul balls or strikes looking. Perhaps I'm just being hopeful, but I was happy about the lack of whiff.
  18. Navigate to baseballsavant.com Load a player page. Scroll down to the graph with pitch usage percentages. Change “pitch %” to “average spin rate” Change “season” to “game” Change “All Seasons” to “2021” You may also want to filter for one type of pitch so it’s easier to track.
  19. Urias since the trade: .275 BA / .362 OBP / .529 SLG / .891 OPS / 143 wRC+ / 21% strikeout rate This too may be over his head by a bit, but he looks comfortable and happy since the trade.
  20. It’ll be interesting to see how often managers ask for a specific piece of clothing/equipment to be checked, now that rule is getting new light.
