  1. Though he has the phenomenal k/bb ratio, it could be a blessing he hasn't been Cy Young when we maybe look to offer him an extension in the offseason.
  2. If he can handle the corner outfield in addition to backing up at first, he may work. For better or worse though, now that Kottaras is up, I think you are looking at our bench for the rest of the season.
  3. Did anyone really think we'd be in first place for more than a day?
  4. I think we need to go back a few years in Green's case. When our system was littered with talent in the minors pre-CC-trade, Green was hovering around being a top five prospect. He had a tough injury and now is healthy again finally this season. He's hardly a flash in the pan in my view. I am more concerned, in hindsight, that Green was not on the 40 man roster and could have been swiped in the rule five draft. We dropped the ball there big time, but it's all moot at this point.
  5. It would be a good idea to get Estrada stretched out as a starter in AAA. I am not keen on any of our AAA pitchers starting if an injury bug strikes us sometime this summer (knock on wood). Seems like getting Estrada some starts in AAA might be a wise move.
  6. Just did some minor research and the obvious trade partner might be San Diego. For either Bartlett or Cabrera. Now, Cabrera has been out with a hand injury but will return anytime now and assuredly be back sometime in June. San Diego has holes but doesn't need both shortstops. Both would be immense upgrades for us. The plus with either player is that we'd have them next year too. Thoughts?
  7. I am in a Taylor Green mood and just posted about him in the major league forum. If it's determined he's ready to take over 3B (just hypothetically play along with me on this one) and outside the box trade might be to deal McGehee to a team for a similarily struggling SS. Not sure of any names out there, but maybe someone can list some teams that could use a 3B and we can think of some names that could come back our way?
  8. Bumping this thread. Green is up to a batting average of .302 after going two for three with two home runs Sunday. He's up to ten homeruns for the year. Green may well be ready for the majors. Now, in saying that, that isn't to say he can't develop more in AAA. What I mean is he may be ready to hit major league pitchers decently and play good defense in the majors. Very cool that Green is turning into a possible real good major league hitter. He was very well thought of 2-3 years ago then fell off a bit last year. It'd be nice if he could become a guy that can hit 20 or so major league homers with a good average and strong defense from the 3b spot.
  9. Any statheads that are hating on Wilson/Counsell should breathe until this settles. It's flat out winning games for us from the day Wilson has been on the roster.
  10. Irregardless is not a word. But it's commonly used. If you think about what regardless means, you can figure out why irregardless isn't a word. And I was told it this way so don't take it the wrong way. I used the word before too.
  11. I only want to chance one reliever before Axford. Please make it through the seventh Christopher!
  12. JJ wouldn't be here if we didn't send him to the minors. He'd have already been a free agent and not resigned and Escobar would be in his first year starting.
  13. What I mean with that is, it seems like even if a reliever is doing well, he just thinks relief pitching is a perfect puzzle and that every reliever is going to do it like he'd write it up in a children's story.
  14. The question I have is...do we want Texas and Jungmann to win or lose. Winning is good but losing means we can maybe sign him and get his pro career a rollin.
  15. I don't see Wilson as a problem at this point. He's been more of a solution than a problem TO THIS POINT. In a month, I may change my tune. But for now, he is working.
  16. Hart is needed in a Princeless lineup. He's not going anywhere. The risk that he stinks again is worth hoping he can be a .280 30+ homerun guy the duration of his contract.
  17. How about this. Resign Prince if it's not too outlandish. Resign Marcum for a Wolf type contract of 4 years-44 million. Watch Jungmann and Bradley develop for a year and become convinced they'll be at least good #3's Trade Greinke in the off-season for prospects or a blue chip SS and P prospect. You are left with a future rotation of Gallardo, Marcum, Jungmann, Bradley, Narveson. Not sure how quickly that comes, but we have Wolfie next year and Rivas possibly on the cusp too. You have an even better offense next year. That is, it certainly can't be worse at 3B and SS if "hypothetical Greinke trade prospect is ready" or if Gamel can return to 3B (or Green I guess). Basically, to summarize, I think we should look to resign Marcum reasonably soon. Then, we still have plenty of time to decide if we want to choose Fielder over Greinke longterm. It may even be better to choose Fielder over Greinke after the draft we just had and because we can likely get a better haul for Greinke in the offseason than we gave up (I just don't think much of the guys we gave up other than Jake O).
  18. He's dipping his shoulder and popping the ball up everytime. He should try and go opposite field the next few atbats.
  19. Back on track, it's looking like Taylor Green is a legit prospect once again. If he can hit .290 and knock 20+ balls out of the park at AAA this year, we may have ourselves our third baseman of the future and undoubtedly will have a utility player for the big leagues.
  20. At the deadline, Rivas straight up would probably get it done.
  21. End, your last post almost makes it sound like the most important thing to you in a deadline deal SS is what type of draft compensation we get. This should be such a tiny worry of ours. It should only be brought up when thinking about what prospects we'd give up. Any Reyes trade will start with Green, Rivas, Thornburg, and Schaefer/Komatsu. I am not sure that is even a good enough foresome.
  22. I think the Brewers had visions of Braves starter Mike Minor when they made their first round selections. If they can get a pair of starters that project as major league starters as quickly as Minor and project to have similar ability to Minor, most of us would be happy.
  23. Beltran or Reyes are not options, much less both of them. We are fine in center field now. We do need to upgrade slightly at SS. It's time for a lesser move, not a move on the scales of CC/Greinke. I wish we'd lock this Reyes thread and focus on more realistic names, but I suppose there's no real reason to do that yet.
  24. WTP, I think after over 400 atbats of this type of performance, Doug would move on from Yuni as well. As of today, it's less than half the amount of atbats. And, yes, I am someone that would like us to look for an improvement at SS.
