  1. 4/22/06: Paid $6 for tickets to watch the Brewers homer 5 times in an inning.
  2. That would be fabulous is Uruguay could muster a point out of this match. The French have been controlling possession but just haven't been able to break through with many great chances. Diego Forlan is clearly the catalyst of the Uruguayan offense, he looks like a great player.
  3. I think you're underestimating how much better Holliday is than Braun in the field. The Cardinals are a pretty average defensive club, while the Brewers are one of the worst in the majors. I viewed Suppan as a 5.5-5.75 ERA pitcher on the Brewers, and he may well be a 5.25-5.50 ERA pitcher on the Cardinals, although it will be lower when he no-hits the Brewers with 6 walks, 2 strikeouts and 3 home runs pulled back by Rasmus. I'll grant you Holliday is better, but unless he and Rasmus play 10 rows deep in the stands, he's not worth 0.25 runs per game. He's worth maybe 10-15 runs in a 162 game season over Braun. At best that's 1-2 runs per starting pitcher per season. That's a difference of less than .10 over 200 IP. The Cardinals are a +4.7 UZR thus far. The Brewers are a -25.4. That's thirty runs over two months. Now, I don't think the Brewers are as bad defensively as they have been, nor do I think the Cardinals are much better than average, but projecting them for a -25 and the Cardinals for a 0 from here out seems pretty reasonable, and that would be .25 runs per game. And how will having a good 1B and elite catcher not help Suppan? The difference between Fielder and Pujols is probably ten runs alone, and the difference between Kottaras and Molina is probably about ten runs as well, although that's a bit harder to measure, and could be significantly more.

  5. This is awesome. Why didn't they release him earlier?
  6. Come on Weeks. Catch that ball and it's a clear out. I wonder how many more CS's the crew would have notched if Weeks could catch a throw to second...
  7. I wonder what that guy thought of extending Lohse...
  8. I think it's time for a home-road platoon! I hate Edmonds leading off less than Gomez in the 2-hole. I think Macha is official in his throw crap at the wall and hope it sticks phase. Edit: typo
  9. You're right, but my emotions have outweighed the rational portion of my brain. Wolf is hurting me in the gut. At least there is a great hockey game on right now.
  10. Man, I didn't like the Wolf signing, but I thought he'd be a pretty decent pitcher. He really needs to turn it around, and do it quickly. I thought it was a bad contract, but this is beginning to look like an albatross.
  11. I interpreted it as more of a move to put Jeffress in the pen for the time being, rather than permanently moving him there. If this can keep him focus and he can get in two or three innings of work each outing, this might not be a terrible move.
  12. I don't think this will make a big difference in his value to the Brewers, although it might decrease his value as a trade chip. At catcher, he is 3rd on the depth chart and it doesn't look like he'll be a #1 in this organization unless something happens both of Lucroy and/or Kottaras. And although I've never looked into it, I'd bet it's a lot easier to swing a baseball bat when you don't have to worry about catching, especially for someone like Salome, who has really struggled with injuries. With Hart gone after next season and Gomez an unknown, it's pretty likely that as long as he can continue to improve at the plate he can make a positive contribution to the big club. From everything I've heard about him, he's someone to cheer for. Coach, thanks for stopping by and giving us your two cents. Congratulations on #900!
  13. Dear Brewers: Carlos Zambrano is starting this game. Please let Doug Davis pinch hit and unveil his opposite field power against Big Nightmare Z.
  14. Yes it has or at the very most to have a minimal effect. Statistics can pretty much be manipulated to show anything the author would like to show. Statistics can only 'show anything the author would like to show' if the readers do not understand statistics. Heck, I could probably pretty easily write a study that hot dogs cause leukemia (poor people tend to eat more hot dogs, poor people tend to have leukemia, so it must be the hot dogs!). Anyone who can think for themselves knows that study would be a load of crap.
  15. Manny Parra kicked my dog.
  16. That's really not fair. It's only 1.596 times the price! Axford now has more wins than Ted Lilly.
  17. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I really didn't think that would happen. Awesome ending.
  18. I get what you're saying, but I'd rather see this team try and claw their way back to having a respectable record, even if getting back to .500 is a longshot.
  19. 14 k's for Strasburg. If this guy could keep going, he could well hit 20. This is absurd.
  20. Giving him more at bats. I think I'd let him get a few more starts against tough righties over Edmonds if they choose to go that route. I guess I'm pretty bearish on Gomez at this point, I can't stand his approach at the plate right now.
  21. I don't see what can be learned by putting Gomez into the lead-off spot that can't be learned from putting him in the bottom of the order. The same goes for Escobar.
  22. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif Someone rated the Cubs?
