  1. Wilson is slugging .785 after over one third of the season has been played. I think we found our replacement for Fielder. I still think Greene needs a bit more time in AAA; I just don't want to see the Brewers rush this guy. So long as McGehee can come close to his Zips projections, he won't hurt this team too badly...at least offensively.
  2. Don't mind seeing McGehee getting the day off, nor can I complain about Wilson being in the lineup over Betancourt.
  3. His BABIP is .098. That's epic. It's like a perfect storm of suck for Colvin this season. Why must they suck so much? STL and CIN are both 4-1 against the Cubs.
  4. Totally agree on that. Thomas has been great all season and throughout the playoffs, but you have to accept that he is going to make some boneheaded mistakes. That was one of them.
  5. GOAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL Wow. Wow. Thank you Mr. Bettman for not suspending the vegetarian. 2-0 lead. Finish it in Boston!
  6. Bugger. Tim Thomas frustrates me.
  7. I seriously doubt he'll have a better overall career than Yount. If this conversation is changed to "Best Brewers Hitter Ever", it becomes more interesting. Unless Fielder sticks around (not going to happen, please no thread derail!), I think Braun has a very good chance to be the greatest Brewers hitter ever.
  8. His UZR/150 is 9.0 since 2007 at SS. Of course, he has only played 36 innings at SS since 2007... He probably can't hack it at SS anymore.
  9. Remember this one when a silly one gets away. Great win! lim(years in majors-->2) axford=turnbow Ax-man scares the crap out of me, but I love the guy.
  10. Yuniesky so far: .225/.255/.331/.586 Those numbers are Wilsonesque at the plate. Even I didn't think he'd hit this poorly. How long can this guy hit like this before being replaced?
  11. Horrible night for Reineke tonight. As for Roenicke, I'm hopeful about his lineup construction. I love Lucroy in the six-hole for now and I can understand breaking Nyjer back into the game in the 8-hole.
  12. Ouch. Count me in at 13-14. Never mind, call it 19-8. Rationality is for suckers.
  13. Just saw the highlight. I'm so clumsy I could probably go 20 seasons without making a single error.
  14. What happened on Gomez's inside-the-park-HR? Gameday says it went through the hole at second base. Huh?
  15. Roenicke seems like a nice old-fashioned baseball guy with a good personality. Unfortunately, his understanding of both offensive and defensive talent is poor to say the least. Hard to rail on him for starting Morgan today given that Hart is injured. I'm really hoping that he understands how much more valuable Morgan is than Kotsay against RHP. Perhaps he at least understands that Morgan is a far better defender given that Morgan is getting the nod against a lefty? Up to this point, I'll give him a D. He just has not done an adequate job of maximizing this team's likelihood to win. I'd like to say he's better than Yost, but I just don't know if I can.
  16. There must be something wrong with Hart. Not even Roenicke would field that lineup if Hart were healthy.
  17. Go Canucks Go. I'm not sure who I want to go through. Honestly I'd rather have the Canucks face the Bruins. Tampa's offense can be so dynamic and I can see that powerplay of theirs giving Luongo fits.
  18. I remember that game. Five strikeouts in two innings, Brewers win in extras?
  19. Oh boy, that's pretty shameful on my part. To be honest, my first thoughts were Jean-Luc Grand-Pierre. http://www.ricspics.net/hold/Hockeypics/images/grandpierre.jpg
  20. Well, I don't get it. Hopefully this isn't one of those guys Roenicke falls in love with. I can't wait to see people clamoring for Yuni to get more playing time.
  21. You can bend numbers and mine data all you want, but anyone with half an education in statistics will see through it. Any way you twist the numbers though, you'll find that strikeouts are only slightly worse than regular, ball in play outs.
  22. When starting the next game after an 0-4, Kotsay is OBP'ing .400. It's like he's Joey Votto after going 0-4. Edit: Blue.
  23. Melvin, where are you? Please tell Ronnie this isn't cool. Gomez has been struggling, so I'm not as annoyed about this as I will be if he starts Kotsay over Morgan. I'm already bracing myself for that.
  24. Finally checked it out a bit. Just from looking at the leaderboards, it appeals to what I've observed. Konerko, McGehee, Wallace, C. Jones, Ortiz, Howard, Yadier all in the bottom 10. Mostly athletic players on the leaderboard. I wonder what the rule of thumb will be in terms of seasons for this statistic to stabilize and be meaningful. There doesn't seem to be as much noise as UZR data just by looking at it (Prince is always negative, Braun always positive). Fielder in his career is a -25 in UBR, which I guess seems pretty reasonable. Konerko is the worst since 2002 with a -44. Juan Pierre and Figgins are top two, both just over +40.
