  1. Applied for a job on November 12. I can't see how I don't at least get an interview for this job. Figured I would be contacted for an interview Thanksgiving week or the week after. Emailed them on Monday asking if the position was still open and no response. With all the talk about how "hot" the job market is supposed to be I figured this would be a rather quick process and not weeks of drown out ghosting like it was 5-10 years ago when I last looked for a job.
  2. I'm with you. Could I save money by constantly switching services to chase the lowest price? Sure. But I'm fine paying the extra for the convenience of not having to do that. Not to mention I have grandparents that come to my house to watch my kids. My mother in law needs me to show her how to turn the TV on whenever she's here. I'm not going to have to explain to her every couple weeks how the new streaming service works.
  3. Ring of Honor is releasing all of it's talents after their final show in December and going on hiatus until spring of 22 with the hope of "re-imagining" the promotion and then relaunching. This is almost certainly the end of ROH. They served a niche for a long time but there are so many other options for wrestling fans now.
  4. This reminds me that I applied for a job back in March or April. Exchanged some emails with the owner of the agency as sort of a mini interview. He said he would take the information to his team and see if there is a fit. I'm guessing there wasn't as I still haven't heard back from him. Now I definitely got the feeling as things went on that they weren't that interested in me and, honestly, I wasn't super interested in them either. But how hard is it to send an email telling me they've moved on?
  5. https://slate.com/human-interest/2021/10/job-seeking-advice-hiring-trend-tight-economy.html Reading this article brought a real smile to my heart. As someone who graduated college in 2008 and spent essentially the next 4 years trying to find a job I can totally related to being on the other side and being treated the same way. Well, well, well. How the turntables...
  6. I'm going to have to disagree with nothing really happened. I think it's pretty obvious this is the beginning of the fall of the Elite. Kenny already lost his Impact Title and the Bucks lost the tag titles. The last time Adam Cole was in the Elite he tried to break them up, which is why they killed him. There's no way that doesn't come up.
  7. I had read a lot of reviews of All Out and it was almost unanimous that it was one of the greatest wrestling PPV's ever. That's a lot of hype and hyperbole to live up to but I watched it this afternoon and I don't think that's far from wrong at all. I never though Eddie Kingston was much in the ring but his match with Miro was fantastic. Lucha Bros/Young Bucks was one of the best matches I've ever seen. MJF totally got me with his trolling of Jericho's entrance and then he and Y2J put on a great match. Britt Baker was solid as always. Christian and Omega tore it down and then back to back surprise debut's to end the night brought down whatever was left standing. WWE caters to kids and the pop culture crowd. They do a decent job of that and won't lose that demo. AEW caters to wrestling fans and the last couple weeks they have been giving them exactly what they want in heaps.
  8. So you are saying it is like WCW back in da day? Sort of, but AEW is building their own stars as well and Vince doesn't have a clue what he's doing anymore.
  9. Finally got around to watching Punk's return. I stopped watching wrestling around 2012 just because my life got crazy busy so I haven't been following WWE's dive into sub-mediocrity very closely. From the bits and pieces I do see though, it's crap now. I love AEW. It's gotten me back into wrestling. I love seeing the guys I used to watch and the guys that are new to me. I love the subtle digs they take at WWE but I really wish that everyone that was in WWE at some point prior would quit with the whole "the other place sucks that's why I'm here" schtick. I'm sure it's true but it just gets annoying to hear it constantly.
  10. Bickford is just as likely to be horrible next year or the rest of this season as he is to continue his success. Such is the life of relief pitchers, as we have all witnessed the last few years. I'm not going to even be concerned about him until he can replicate what's he's done so far over at least another season.
  11. Am I remembering correctly that the wrestler who was Isaac Yankem is Cain? Kane, actually. Cain killed his brother. Kane just trapped his in a funeral parlor and set it on fire to try to burn him alive. But failed.
  12. If the writer knows how to trick a computer into sorting your resume to the top of the pile it's probably worth it.
  13. Agreed. It was an extremely satisfying finale. Satisfying but corny. The last 5 minutes was basically a rehash of the last 5 minutes of The Office.
  14. There are putting on some really solid stuff and Baker is overall one of the best heels they have.
  15. Britt Baker and Thunder Rosa put on one of the most brutal matches, men or women, I've ever seen.
  16. I thought all the hype about Shaq wrestling in AEW was pointless and an unnecessary publicity grab for a C-list celebrity. But man I've got to give the guy credit, he took a sick bump through a table and looks just as good in the ring as any of the random giant, roided up guys WWE tries to put out there.
  17. Ya, I couldn't believe when I read that either. Also couldn't believe it's been 6 seasons already. I guess that's still a pretty long run.
  18. Yep ... should probably serve as a warning to those pushing for the Brewers to trade Hader. They'd probably be lucky to get 1-2 prospects back the caliber of Diaz and Harrison, let alone a Top 25 MLB prospect like Brinson was at the time. Ya, nothing's a sure thing but Hader has a lot more value now than when Yelich did at the time. Brinson was the only "top guy" we gave up. Diaz was well regarded and Monte and Yamamoto were essentially lotteries. I'd expect at least two "top guys" in return and certainly higher level prospects overall.
  19. Let's look at it this way. Say the trade never happens, forget about not having Yelich, we could be getting next to nothing production from guys who were supposed to be our top prospects and the future of the club. Would have been interesting to see how Huira/Diaz worked out with both being 2B. Maybe Keston gets moved to first sooner. Maybe Isan gets moved to 3B or the outfield.
  20. At what point do we run out of comic book stuff to make movies and shows about? It seems like everything is either comic book related, remake of 90's sitcom, or let's see how crazy of a concept we can come up with and go with it.
  21. https://www.ringsidenews.com/2021/01/28/brodie-lees-wife-opens-up-about-his-final-days/amp/ Brodie's wife recaps the events that led to his death for those interested. My two takeaways from it are how incredible AEW was to the family doing everything they could to get him help and help out the family. And also how incredible that he was essentially dying for two months and the whole company and all the wrestlers knew but not a word got out. That's amazing, not just in the wrestling business, but in the world today for something like that to be kept quiet.
  22. Exhibit A for why this site needs a "like" feature... This is nothing new. It happened already in the late 90's and has no doubt been happening ever since.
  23. Watched them make Detroit Style pizza on Cook's Country a couple weekends ago. It looked bad and pointless. Basically bread with sauce.
  24. I have some reservations about Bitcoin, but I’ll bite here. Part of Bitcoin’s appeal is that there is a finite supply. There will only ever be 21 million Bitcoins. Meanwhile, countries print new fiat money every day. Even gold, which has a fixed supply on Earth, could hypothetically be mined from other planets or asteroids some day. So it's basically a collector's item?
