  1. Two thoughts 1. How did his bat crater while his defense remained good? That seems really weird to me. Defense should go first or both at the same time. 2. Does the union have any backing to file a grievance against the Brewers for getting him the full pension? The Brewers holding on to him even he was clearly toast just to get him his pension cost the team no money but the pension cost will be footed by the union. I mean if they're going to complain about service time manipulation with guys when they're called up they should be complaining here too on the back end.
  2. When you give a special back shouldn't you get something from the player you're giving it to? Imagine making that trade in person. "Here's your ball back JJ." "Thanks kid! Here's my autograph." "Umm, no thanks. Can you get me Verlander's instead?" It's not a great look for the Astros but I can't blame them for turning down stuff from other players.
  3. I don't think there's any "punishment" involved here as they're only investigating whether or not he used corporate funds for hush money. If it's proved he didn't he may not get back his CEO job but I think it's certain he won't be giving up or be removed from any creative control.
  4. I'm pretty sure he's only stepping down from the business side and will still control the wrestling product. So what you see on TV won't change at all.
  5. Considering how hideous some of the other ones have been I find these to be pretty bland and boring. Not that they're bad necessarily but I was expecting gaudy. Overall it seems like a real lazy effort though. The only real "connection" to the city is the grill, which is probably more of a Wisconsin thing than a Milwaukee thing. And they used the same font for the name and numbers on the back as the current uniforms and I'm pretty sure just about every other team got a new one.
  6. I would say patience is a problem in MLB in general. When Moneyball led to everyone taking walks and working the count it made sense. The goal was to get a starters pitch count up so you could get to the bullpen which, at the time, was full of inferior pitchers compared to starters. Nowadays, relievers have better stuff than starters so forcing them into the game isn't really advantageous. There's also the fact that pitchers in general are just better than they used to be. Taking that first pitch fastball over the heart of the plate for a strike does the batter no favors when it's the best pitch they'll see.

  8. He sucks and is a placeholder. He'll threw 2 innings in a game eventually and then be DFA'd as soon as the game is over only to be replaced by someone as equally as crappy and the pattern repeats.
  9. Keston has the 6th highest OPS on the team right now. No matter how much he strikes out he's clearly a bat that should be playing near everyday (unfortunately).
  10. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/34048068/damn-a-hit-mlb-players-sound-infield-shift-disappear-forever Article about the shift probably being outlawed next year with some quotes from players. I still have yet to see any reasonable argument made for banning the shift. If you think players are going to stop trying to hit homeruns on every swing and not care about how often they strike out because there's no shift I think you're very mistaken.
  11. As someone who has no interest in ever tailgating anywhere or for any reason, I don't even think this is a good idea. If people like me want to eat somewhere before the game we're hitting up one of the bars on whatever street that's across the highway and taking a shuttle to the stadium. No over crowded parking lot to deal with or paying to park there. Of course, I haven't been to a game in about 7 years so maybe things have changed so much that this doesn't happen anymore. I will say, though, that my biggest complaint about Miller/AmFam having been to other parks is that it's in the middle of nowhere with nothing around it but parking lots and highway. It really seems like a relic in that sense.
  12. I've been meaning to look back at all of Stearns trades to see if there's anyone he gave up that could really be helping the team right now. Grisham had one great year but has been meh to bad since. Feyerisian and Rasmussen have been great but I think we need Adames more than more relievers. Maybe there's others but that's all I can think of off the top of my head. Dumping Phil Bickford for nothing may be his biggest regret so far.
  13. At least have of the league uses or has used a logo with interlocking letters. Plenty of teams in other sports do it too. I don't get any sort of Yankees vibe from the MB logo.
  14. Time to make a rule that batters have to wear a blindfold until the ball is released from the pitchers hand.
  15. The Phillies are the prime example of dumb spending. Much like the Reds a few years ago, they spent big on bats who couldn't play D anywhere and thought it wouldn't hurt them. Flash forward...it did.
  16. That was the logo when I became a baseball fan so I think of it fondly and hold no ill will toward it. I certainly like it better than the bland, vanilla script that came after.
  17. As a COVID replacement isn't he not on the 40 man and can be sent back with no issues?
  18. I find the whole shoot/pipe bomb thing to generally be eye rolling cringe but hot damn MJF. He's like if Ric Flair and Roddy Piper had a baby.
  19. Luckily Stearns had left all those 40 man spots open the last few weeks I guess.
  20. I'm as excited about Turang as anyone but why would they call him up or even put him on the 40 now? Nothing about his AAA numbers is eye popping and where would he even play?
  21. Maybe this is just more of a technical issue but it takes a long time for Tweets to load for me. At least 10 seconds if not more sometimes.
  22. I can't tell if Rob Gronkowski is a bad actor or just really good at playing a bad actor.
  23. Watching old Nitro it's apparent how terrible and pointless interviewers are today. Mean Gene and Tony Schiovane would carry on a conversation with a wrestler and try to engage with them and lead them where they need to go. Nowadays it's "So and so said something about you last week. What do you have to say about that?" And that's all they contribute. You could get rid of them and no one would even notice.
  24. Any team that trades for Hiura could easily trade him again for something of value if he rebounds before he gets "expensive". The idea that no rebuilding teams would want him is just ludicrous. What they would give up is certainly debatable though.
  25. Interesting about the different weights. I grew up pitching a tennis ball against our garage. I'd go out and throw at least 100 pitches almost everyday and never got a sore arm from it. I did this from about 7th grade all the way through high school. After close to 25 years of playing baseball at a whole bunch of different levels, pitching, and throwing batting practice I've really only had a sore arm a couple times in my life. I've always felt it was because I conditioned my arm with "low stress" throwing with the tennis ball.
