  1. The Mets had a chance to make a franchise transforming move by trading him to fill holes and get some young talent into the organization. Instead they wasted a ton of money and years on him. Like the last poster said he'll be 30 on opening day and this team isn't going to content for a couple years. His prime years will be wasted on lost seasons and he'll be on the decline when they are finally ready to compete. Stupid move.
  2. The Pirates outbid the Yankees. The Mayans were right.
  3. If there are people out there worried about Hamilton's "decline in production" I'm going to question if they even know how baseball is played. Josh Hamilton 2012 AB: 562 HR: 43 RBI: 128 BB: 60 OPS: .930 I meant decline as in throughout the contract. Between the injuries and substance abuse his body is going to beak down much quicker than other players.
  4. It seems the way to get part time minimum wage jobs these days is to personally know someone who owns a business or does the hiring. I applied for lots of those jobs and never even got an interview until I asked some people I know that own a store if I could have a job and they gave me one. And that's basically how all hiring was done there.
  5. I totally agree that the ball and smaller ballparks contributed to the offensive explosion more than steroids. Pitchers were taking steroids too. If there were as many pitchers taking steroids as hitters everything should have, in theory, evened out.
  6. I think most people are worried more about his injuries and decline in production than his substance abuse.
  7. Well, Pete Rose didn't cheat. He broke a rule and lied out it.
  8. Yes. That's way it's been going for quite a few years and will continue to go that way. For every Ryan Braun that takes a discount early in his career there are like 10 Prince Fielders who will squeeze every dollar possible out of their club until free agency and then go somewhere else or be traded.
  9. You can think whatever you want about steroids but the man who has hit the most homeruns in MLB history should get in the hall of fame. Then again the man who has the most hits in MLB history isn't and never will be.
  10. Is this year's free agent CF'ers class the most overrated ever?
  11. I was going to say Green Lake too. I love the little town and there's lots of stuff to do in the surrounding areas.
  12. Might as well bring back Counsell if that's what we're looking for.
  13. I can't believe Madson didn't exercise his option with the Reds. There's no way he gets as much guaranteed money anywhere else.
  14. I have no idea nor do I really care but NCAA D1 athletics is nothing but scandals, rules violations, and shady dealings so I wouldn't be surprised.
  15. Any player on an incentive laden deal is a good deal. However, there are teams that are going to offer guaranteed money that teams that need to be fiscally responsible can't compete with.
  16. Selig has no right to block any trade for Stanton unless he can prove there is some under the table dealings like Loria personally receiving money for another owner. All 5 Marlins fans have every right to be upset about the trades but for Selig to step in and prevent a trade from happening because he doesn't think it's good for the team is overstepping his power.
  17. Possibly the most pointless coach, right above bullpen coach, so whatever.
  18. Good for the Jays. They could have gone into next year with a rather competitive team and finished 4th or 5th in the division. Now they should at least content for a wild card spot. The AL East is ridiculous.
  19. Parra has no value at all. This would be a bad trade for the Marlins. Even if they are just trying to dump salary this doesn't make sense.
  20. Free agents go where the money is, actual location is pretty much irrelevant. As long as Loria keeps offering contracts like he did last offseason players will still go there.
  21. Yes, it does look like Cookie Monster. That is crazy.
  22. I'm pretty sure Loria can do whatever he wants, since it's his team that HE owns, not MLB or Miami. And the trade isn't even that ridiculous. They got rid of a pitcher in his last year, an aging pitcher that is going to be the most overpaid player in the game soon, and a good but really expensive short stop for a top short stop prospect and a serviceable starter and catcher. If any team other than the Marlins makes this deal there's little to no fuss about it.
  23. I thought it was actually pretty good. Punk is by far the best at being a heel WWE has right now. It was just cheap heat. Doesn't build to anything at all. I turned it off before it even got to the fake heart attack and Foley. It was go away heat, that's not heel heat. My comment had nothing to do with heat. Punk is just a great heel. A typical WWE heel now plays one of two characters. He either hates the fans or hates whatever face he's feuding with at the time. Punk does so much more than that. He plays with the crowd during matches and promos. He antagonizes everyone - fan, opponent, announcer, referee, etc. The only one even close to him in heel ability is Ziggler and he's still light years away from Punk's level. I will totally agree Punk is lacking heat but it's because the fans still cheer him. He still gets a good face pop every time he comes out.
