    the worst analyst? Come on, Walton is still allowed infront of a microphone. I'm still waiting for the tv option that selectively only mutes Chris Collinsworth, Joe Buck, Bill Walton, and Phil Simms, while letting us hear their broadcast partners

    I'm with brwrsfan. For years I've advocated the fouling when up 3. Make it a free throw contest (although Wisconsin doesn't shoot them well this year). I'm glad to see that in the last two or three years more coaches are embracing the concept, but it's amazing how Wisconsin never should have even gotten a chance at a 3 in regulation and Mich shouldn't have gotten a chance in OT. Really, this win is one I credit two people for...Brust's 3 and the Michigan players for not fouling. Still, good to see the other team in the state doing well. With the big upsets, Wisconsin has to be a lock for the tournament, and a likely 7-8 seed.

    I was in Panama during the first WBC, and it was hilarious seeing all the old guys in this small town gathered in the bars, cussing out Panama's team for losing to "inferior" teams. Amazing since Panama had Carlos Lee, and that's it. It was fun to watch though

    who knows, having his best minor league season and then taking a year off of baseball to get physically right may help him out in the long run. We'll see how he comes back in Instructional League or the AFL

    At this point I don't know why you wouldn't get a lawyer. At the very least, the employer should be forced to compensate you with interest (since he earned the interest, not you) and should also pay your legal fees. I'm sure there are plenty of lawyers out there that would love the chance to make an easy couple hundred bucks paid for by your former employer

    I overlay the audio because I have a home audio system that is streamed from a mobile device (usually iPad) and I sync it to the Apple TV video. Works great

    I'm not trying to suggest we should be motivated to move him. He's still very raw from everything we read, and it's arguable whether he'll be more than Jeff Pickler. But if a team were enamored with him, I'd have no problem moving him in a trade. I like building depth and letting is sit at AAA. Some say that it's rotting there, I like to think of it as we're utilizing the rules to stockpile depth.

    Given how Weeks can be such an impact 2b (and the Brewers are unlikely to move him to the OF), I would entertain offers on Gennett over the next few years. As for Morris, I'm still not sold. I like seeing 2 good seasons before getting too excited. I was burned a bit too much by guys like Festa, Richardson, etc.

    Gonzalez would be great as a utility player and mentor. Plus we need depth for 2b, ss, and 3b. Mass, how does Bianchi have 7 years of big league time when he just debuted last season? I'd keep both as the backups. Green could use playing regularly in AAA as he's had limited success the last few years and needs to make up at bats. Gamel is now starting at 1b. Once Hart comes back we'll have a bench of: Maldonado Gonzalez Schafer Gamel Bianchi That leaves us with 12 pitchers. Plus, it seems unlikely that our entire team is healthy when Hart comes back. I like the versatility of having Gamel and Bianchi as IF/OF and the bench has some r/l protection (not all righty like in past years)

    kind of crazy that the media has only reported parts of the initial deadspin story. For instance, several students at my school were talking about it today and had no clue that the initial story had already named the alleged perpetrator. I also feel it's worth noting that I've taught several Mormons. All are great people, some can be naive (like any group), and generally they only date Mormons. Seeing as Te'o is at Notre Dame, I doubt he has many Mormon options to date in Indiana. If a seemingly attractive, wonderful person attempts to make contact (in this case, stalk) online, it's quite plausible that Te'o was duped and not in on it. I love that some in the media are wondering why he didn't attend her funeral or visit after the car accident....um, he's a college athlete that likely doesn't have enough money/time to travel 4 hours by air. There are still lots of questions. But seriously, this stuff happens all the time on the internet. It's why our parents warned us when we were teens. As a teacher we were given lessons as to how easy it is for someone to cyberstalk a student. It's remarkably easy...so scary!

    topper, I've seen him play SS (in the AFL) and I thought he looked raw but quite capable. However, for SS or 3b he would have to completely revamp his motion and stop his limp-body sidearm throws. He'd actually have to utilize good footwork and his entire body. I always loved Cirillo's over-the-top motion at 3b. I still think Weeks should be in the OF, but I've been saying it for 4 years and the Brewers obviously haven't listened. I'm sure it would help keep him healthier

    Rickie would be awful at 1b. When covering first on bunts, he always looks afraid of the ball. Seems like there's 5 or 6 plays at first each season where a decent 2b would easily make them but Rickie butchers them (often become errors for catcher, pitcher, or first basemen)

    interesting. Yellow's not really an in-color these days. Seems like greys and blacks are very big (crazy, in late 90s when I was in school, nobody wore those colors)

    I'd suggest Caleb Gindl makes the team as an extra OF. He deserves a shot. He's had 1 bad year (2012) and it was due to injury. For perspective, he's had the same number of bad seasons that Morris has had good seasons

    I see Andy Gonzalez and Michael Franke both are in the event. Haven't heard Franke's name in years

    I could see Schafer emerging as the CF option. I can't imagine we'll pay to keep Gomez, and I think Schafer can be just as good. Of course, I think they're both average-at-best. As for Morris, I haven't projected him as a big league 1b as I haven't really drank his kool-aid yet. I'd prefer to try to sign Hart for 2-3 years while letting Morris play in AAA.

    yeah, although unfortunately those three studs weren't all of what Toronto hoped. Halladay became a stud (but also holds the record for highest ERA in a season by a qualifying pitcher), Excobar was mediocre, and Carpenter was god awful until he had surgery, was released, and had Dave Duncan do voodoo on him

    my problem with the Surface (from an Apple fan) is that the commercials haven't told me a thing except people dance/stomp with it. The Apple and Galaxy commercials brilliantly show us features and make us yearn for them.

    cubsdie, this is why I don't always advocate dealing for prospects. Proven big leaguers are almost always better than prospects. A study a few years ago found that while the value of 3-for-1 prospect-star trades is pretty even at the time of the trade, in the long run the team getting the star almost always comes out ahead.

    I love this signing. It reminds me of the Hawkins signing. A very good pitcher--maybe we got him 2-3 years too late--but still very good

    1992casey, we also had refurb ipod touches to help with that. But the ipad served as the central dock for all (including parents with poor eyesight, when visiting). As for the ipad mini vs a 7" tablet...I thought they measured virtually the same, due to the mini's thinness and it's lack of bezel edge.

    Did he ever retire? I thought he was taking a year off to have some experimental cartilage replacement surgery, then hoped to resume his career. Seeing as his stats were always pretty good (OBP/SLG), and we've seen other overmatched raw power guys succeed with greater chances to develop (Nelson Cruz, Johnny Gomes, Jose Bautista, etc), I always thought he had a slight chance to carve out an MLB niche. Does anyone know of any updates that my googling skills aren't finding? I miss having his power sitting in AAA.

    Saw on mlbtraderumors that the brewers signed some guys. Is that Ozzie Chavez our old SS from seemingly a decade ago (with the cool middle name)?
