  1. Wow...I love it. Not the Yankees, Dodgers, Cubs, Red Sox. The San Diego Padres.
  2. 2019: $7 million 2020: $11 million OR $3 million buyout Interesting
  3. Love this team and that lineup is wow!! 1. Cain 2. Yelich 3. Braun 4. Shaw 5. Aguilar 6. Grandal 7. Moose 8. Arcia If Arcia can just be around .250 they should have one of the top offenses in baseball. As a side note...Thank you for owning this team Mark Attanasio. His commitment to winning in the smallest market in baseball is unreal.
  4. I'd like to bring Moustakas back as it lengthens the lineup significantly (even if it means Travis Shaw is a regular 2B), but not at $9-$12 million per. At most, I would see a 2 year $14 million commitment and that would be stretching it given the coming of Hiura and the likely league average platoon of Spangenberg/Perez.
  5. Not on Brewerfan. Most were pleased to get a very solid pitcher given that reports were rather frequently emerging about Lawrie’s challenges Eh...I don't remember it quite this way. As I recall, yes, Lawrie and his challenges were becoming known. However, there was a significant amount of consternation that Lawrie was dealt for Marcum because he was an older pitcher (29 at time of acquisition) with only 2 years of team control remaining. A good number of posters wanted Lawrie dealt for a controlled, young pitcher.
  6. I have come to realize that 2019 Dallas Keuchel is 2018 Alex Cobb. I have come around to the fact that I would rather see Woodruff-Peralta-Burnes (with Davies and Anderson as potential fall back options) in the rotation rather than spending the $15-$20 million to acquire Keuchel. If the $15-$20 million is burning a hole in Attanasio's pocket, go sign Craig Kimbrel and shorten the game to 5 innings. Imagine a back end of Jeffress in the 6th, Hader in the 7th, Knebel in the 8th and Kimbrel in the 9th. Wow.
  7. American Family Field of Milwaukee coming in 2020?
  8. A rotation of Chacin-Woodruff-Peralta-Burnes and (cross your fingers, pray to God, give Jobu some rum) healthy Nelson is sexy. With Anderson and Davies waiting in the wings in the pen with Knebel, Hader, Jeffress, Claudio and Guerra...MAN. Sign Moustakas and lengthen the lineup.
  9. This. 100% this. Keuchel will be a Phillie if they don’t land either. More than likely I think the Phillies are waiting to see if they can sign one or both. If they only get one, I see them pivoting to Keuchel or maybe Kimbrel. Either way, Keuchel signs after both Harper and Machado are signed.
  10. Benny will be around a while. Not unless his parents don't meet at the Enchantment Under the Sea dance. That's about as funny as a screen door on a battleship.
  11. While I love the Grandal/Pina combo, I really wish there was a way to have kept Stephen Vogt around. He seemed to be such a good influence on that clubhouse. Really would love to see him back as a coach sometime in the future. Good luck Stephen!
  12. This pretty much sums up my feeling on the situation. Probably not the way to build for a small market but it would certainly be fun to see Yelich-Harper in their prime in Milwaukee.
  13. Love this deal. Granderson is one of my all time favorites and seems like a great mentor for Brinson and Harrison. I hope he does well for them.
  14. The top 2 players dont have offers from 27 plus clubs. You dont see evidence Just because the top 2 players don't have offers from 27 plus clubs does not equate to collusion. While I definitely appreciate Josh's viewpoint on the subject and his insight into free agency that most, if not all, of us do not have, I think Nate's point is spot on. Why the top 2 players don't have offers from 27 teams, has nothing to do with collusion. It has everything to do with working inside the framework of a system that is fundamentally flawed and gives significant advantages to the largest of markets. Imagine the Brewers, Reds, Pirates, Marlins, Padres, Royals, Twins, Indians, A's or Rays signing Jason Heyward to the contract he signed. His relative non-performance compared to his contract would have crippled that team's efforts to remain competitive. The Cubs however can endure and still sign Darvish and Hamels to $20+ million contracts. Heyward's deal is a cautionary tale that small markets have learned a long time ago (*cough* Suppan *cough*) and big markets are finally learning the same lesson. Going a step further, why should the Yankees sign Manny Machado to a $35m a year contract when his 162 game average for his career is .282, 31 HR, 90 RBI and Miguel Andujar gave you .297, 27 HR, 92 RBI for the league minimum? Should the Nationals be thanking Harper for turning $30m per year down when his 162 game average is .279, 32 HR, 91 RBI and Juan Soto just gave you .292, 22 HR, 70 RBI at age 19 and for the league minimum? Front offices have gotten smarter. If the players decide to strike in a few years, well then good luck to you. You didn't learn your lessons from 1994. Fans will side with ownership. Maybe you don't care. But maybe you should look at the NFL's popularity, even with a dynasty in place, where a team whose home city has 100,000 is on equal financial ground with New York, Los Angeles and Chicago.
  15. This is precisely how the Brewers need to operate in order to remain competitive. Lifelong Brewers like Braun need to be a dying breed if we want the Brewers to continually be relevant. It will be hard, as I am as guilty as anyone with romanticizing the lifelong Brewer. However, I would rather see consistently winning baseball in Milwaukee. Braun is really the wrong choice of a person to drive your point home. If not for the HGH/injury issues, he's exactly the type of generational player that you specifically do keep and try to build around. Weeks, Hart, Fielder, Knebel, Scooter, Khris Davis, etc...all very very good players in their prime, but there is a good reason in each case for those guys to not be extended into their mid-late 30s as a lifelong brewer. Spoiler alert, but Yelich might be the type of player we try to extend if possible...though if/when he wants $35 million per year we'll probably have to let him go to LA. I hear you. We are basically saying the same thing though. Weeks, Hart, Fielder...could be synonymous with Shaw, Knebel, Hader and Aguilar in time. Unfortunately, the Brewers should be selling most of these guys off before or during their contract year in order to constantly rotate talent through the system.

  17. Well...Everyone comfortable if the Brewers go into the season with: Chacin Anderson Davies Woodruff Peralta Burnes Nelson Am I missing anyone?
  18. 1 year $4.5 according to Nightengale Would have to believe Keuchel is out in Houston.
  19. Or trading for both Kluber and Bumgarner... Would be a blast to be able to be a big market.
  20. While still super early in the offseason to make predictions with any sense of comfort, I will go with: Brewers 88 Cubs 88 Cardinals 87 Reds 80 Pirates 79 On paper, the Brewers are the same or maybe better than last season. However, I just see an absolutely brutal 76 divisional games, another bruising 25 games against the NL East contenders (Phillies, Braves, Nationals and Mets), 14 more against the NL West contenders (Dodgers and Rockies) and 4 games against the Astros. 119 games of what should be very competitive baseball.
  21. I agree. Lest we forget both the Cardinals (Harper and Machado) and Cubs (Harper) have been tied to the two biggest fish left. If one lands in StL or Chicago, that could very easily tip the division in their favor. If the Brewers can get Machado at their price point, you have to do it.
  22. ...and will pivot immediately to Wade Miley if Keuchel signs elsewhere.
  23. I think Grandal will hit and hit a lot in Milwaukee. However, he will be a 31 year old FA catcher next year and I doubt he will command an $18 million salary. What I foresee happening is him being offered something in the 2 year $32 million range after this season, which could lead to a long term relationship if the Brewers make another run into the playoffs.
  24. I'll second that. If you can't beat the Dodgers, get them to join you.
