  1. Sandy Alderson would like a word...
  2. I don't suppose Detroit would want Gomez for next year for Norris +?
  3. Wow. Tulo and Price? That will clean out your farm pretty quick.
  4. I don't see any way Gomez gets traded til the offseason now, unless we accept a bunch A/A+ players, which I am actually in favor of. I feel like I'm in a bad dream and I'm a Cub fan right now.
  5. I think that placement in the order can help/hurt guys, but I don't think batting leadoff is the reason for his monster year. I think the "oh, he's really turned it around after moving to the leadoff spot" gets overblown by announcers a lot. Sometimes hitting in front of a certain player gets you better pitches, but it's not some wacky mental change that makes you an All Star like some announcers seem to claim. I think he'll be a .750-.775 guy that platoons (which I would love to have, but not for the money) and I'd rather just get what I can for him right now. Can always sign him back after the season. Oh Id trade anyone for the right price. But Parra is now moving from the nice trade piece to a guy that I would just as soon extend rather than dump for anything less than a very significant package. If he was 34 instead of 28 Id be more concerned with his bump in production as being flukey. I am becoming to become used to starting the game off with a guy standing on 2b. He might be our best lead off hitter since the Ignitor. If they can pull of a very rare trade and sign, id be fine with that, but he would be a FA Id prioritize. I don't believe we should be extending anyone over 26 years old unless they are a monster. If we extend Parra for three years, we suck for two and we are in the same boat probably 3 years from now trying to trade a 32 year old instead of a 28 year old. Trade him for the best package you can and hope its worth more than a supplemental pick.
  6. I guess I don't see any reason to take Lohse off the team since this season is toast. I'm sure the guys who have an issue with a 6 man rotation will be ok with only doing it the remaining couple months. Peralta just got off the DL, Cravy and Jungman don't need to overdo it and personally I don't really care what Garza thinks at this point. Unless a 6 man somehow raises the risk of injury I say do it. Might need to carry an extra BP arm though. Bring up Pena and see what he has for next year.
  7. Completely agree. Why not let him pitch? I guess I don't see a good reason to dump him. Maybe he gets on a hot streak and we can trade him for a bag of balls and some cash. If he blows like he has the rest of the year, we get a better draft pick and it takes some innings off the young guys. Make him work for the rest of his contract.
  8. It doesn't matter anyway. If we don't trade him he will be hurt, if we do trade him to the Cards he will put MVP type numbers and whoever we get will not pan out.
  9. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/07/bud-norris-trade-orioles.html Orioles are also trying to get rid of Bud Norris. If we take him on would we be able to get an extra piece in a Gomez deal or would that make it worse. Maybe we could swap him and Lohse. Either way, as long as it didn't take pieces away, it would give an extra arm this year to throw out there and some insurance if we trade anther starter.
  10. I love this idea. Parra doesn't necessarily give the Cubs anything long term and Vogelbach should be ready with the rest of that wave of prospects we have. Maybe we can even get a BP arm thrown in if there is a bidding war.
  11. Can't he be hired as a player/pitching coach or something for Biloxi (No one wants to go to CO Springs) for life. I would be ok with that. We could link his blog and maybe he can do Link Reports as a side gig. He can throw the first inning of any game he feels like playing in.
  12. What about Logan Schafer I understand this is in Blue, but for this year I would be fine with Schaefer. We can always get some trash heap guys for next year and see what we get, otherwise the kids should start coming in later next year or 2017. Get the best players and don't worry about who to replace them with at this point.
  13. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/07/ricky-nolasco-to-undergo-ankle-surgery.html Looks like Nolasco is out for about two months. What about a package of Lohse and Cotts for a B-ish prospect. Not sure what they have, but a live arm or two in A or A+. Or as someone mentioned in a previous post as for a decent arm or bat plus their comp pick. Might turn out to be a very nice trade a few years down the road.
  14. Dominguez I get with our lack of depth at 3B. Why DFA Wang though? There is no way he makes it through waivers. Now someone is going to pick him up and he will start 20 games a year for them 3 or 4 years down the road. Ugh.
  15. Crew just claimed Dominguez. Nice. Can't be worse than ARam right now.
  16. http://m.mlb.com/news/article/129878386/search-for-2016-draft-class-immediately-begins Don't forget Seth BEER.
  17. Woohoo! Fortuno, Clark and Perry already. Anyone have any idea what these guys are signing for? I'm curious to see if we are saving money to try and sign one the big name guys later on or if we are just trying to get everyone playing baseball as soon as possible. Maybe this is a question for another thread....
  18. DM should be looking for some sort of three team deal. ARam to Mets, Neise to Team X, Player X to Brewers. Probably won't net us anyone amazing, but even an A baller with potential is better than having ARam on the team taking up cash and space. I love ARam, but we need to get what we can for him.
  19. Is there a point where we just sign these guys an lose a number one next year? Has anyone ever done that? Hooper, Everett, India, maybe Perry are getting pretty close to a top pick, but I don't know what it would take to sign all of them either.
  20. He tweeted that he's 100% attending UCLA. Obviously things can change but I doubt we have the money to convince him to sign. What does UCLA have that Wisconsin doesn't? Oh...nevermind
  21. India is probably a no sign also, but once again, its worth a shot.
  22. Hooper!!! That would be so sweet if we found a way to sign him.
  23. Does this mean Lucroy will not be traded???? If we do, hopefully his brother signs first.
