  1. If it were the playoffs they will probably just play through stuff like this. I don’t think there is big risk of a more significant injury. I don’t want to start the playoffs with them seeing live pitching for the first time in a month, so light playing time seems to be the best option.
  2. I would love to go back and look at the pre season projects for San Diego's pitching staff and compare them to what is currently about the 15th best starting pitching staff
  3. Zamora was considered top 2 defender in his draft class at the time
  4. Was looking at him for RF but wow are his defensive numbers bad there
  5. It might not be ideal but its kind of nice when your starting 3B can also play SS and 2B, so if those positions get an injury or poor performance you have more options about how to replace them.
  6. It was an awesome pitch when he got lit up in BAL too but he found the magic stuff this year somehow
  7. I did not notice the K rate on Howell. I've been buying into K rate as a prediction of future success a lot recently. Hopefully he can bring it down next year. He's on pace to be well above 30% at MLB level and almost no one can survive there as an above average or even average player. It's a number that almost always goes up when a guy gets promoted though.
  8. I don't think they did, the only thing they really did poorly that you could nitpick is they could have gotten better value in the off-season. But even there they might have wanted to manipulate service time.
  9. I didn't think Herbert could play CF?
  10. If you value ratios like walks, strikeouts, HRs you go with Burnes If you value wins and an extra 20-30 IP then go with Buehler That’s where we are at I think
  11. He will be gone after next year most likely since I think that is the last year we can hold him in AAA
  12. Kolten Wong is a $10M player. There's better values than 20M for Avi. Wong was a success story, he's out playing his contract. JBJ is a $12M player. I don't mind paying Avi instead of a pair of guys that may be Wong + JBJ.
  13. $19M isn’t what it used to be… he’ll get close to that in AAV, the Brewers can do it without long term commitment. I don’t think there is a better way to spend the money. We don’t need a pair of $10M players or whatever.
  14. New Dodgers-Brewers rivalry - who can be worse, JBJ or Bellinger They have identical avg and obp bright now
  15. Honestly if he accepted the QO I would be happy to have him back and its not a bad deal. I don't think we need to be active in FA anyway besides RF and bargain pitching.
  16. This would be a fun gamble: offer him the QO, if he accepts you trade prospects to unload the Cain deal. So you either get a comp pick, or you trade prospects to rent Avi for 1 year.
  17. I'd like to have him back, but I'm also willing to go with JBJ/Taylor and shop the trade market in the off-season or during next season
  18. Is it time to start a red hot Felix Valerio thread yet
  19. I love ump scorecards but you have to take it with a grain of salt. Its not so simple to say how many runs were gained/lost by 1 bad call. And its a probability thing anyway. A hitter can gain a 4th strike due to a bad call and hit a grand slam but it won't go down as a 4 run differential.
  20. Reyes: the best guy we could get to wait at AAA for an injury
  21. I would have been interested in Westbrook I guess but I think he's been 2B with little to no 1B/3B
  22. The Athletic posted a sneaky top 10 in a low key article that included Wiemer and Mendez
