  1. Peralta is 10th in NL pitching WAR right now so not particularly close. Obviously its not a WAR contest but Peralta has all the other factors working against him. Not a recognizable name, no track record of success, 3rd best pitcher on his team, etc. So I agree his only way in is if Burnes or Woodruff drops out.
  2. I don't think they rushed Hiura in 2019 since he crushed MLB pitching. They rushed him in 2021 when they sent him down for 1 week when he really needed several months though.
  3. Any starter with ERA under 3 is probably not clean honestly
  4. Turang, Hiura, Hedbert, Ray, Lutz all can go IMO if they bring back some reasonable value. I feel like there is ammo there for Mancini in addition to other guys outside our top 10.
  5. I’m hoping we can trade away Hiura in a 1B trade. I’m not expecting him to have much value but I’m hoping a rebuilding team will want to take him on as a project.
  6. I don’t think Shaw could be replaced with any random WW player. Some of the best WW players available to us recently include guys like McKinney, Robertson, Reyes.
  7. I would happily replace Shaw with a trade for a better player. I wouldn't replace him with an AAAA player like Green or Reyes though and I wouldn't play Urias out of position full time either.
  8. Weird time to bring him up. I didn’t watch yesterday but his line was actually pretty good. 4.5 ERA for the day, no hits, 1 BB in 2 innings is a 0.5 WHIP. 18 k/9.
  9. I think there is a pretty big gap between the 2. I see Ashby as best case #2 starter, worst case 8th inning reliever. Small best case 3 or 4 starter, worst case never makes an impact at MLB level.
  10. I thought Narvaez was 6th in MLB catcher WAR which definitely doesn’t make him an all star but puts him in the running as our best chance for a position player (2nd is Wong, 3rd is no one)
  11. Well I will say that the Rays roster crunch was the best situation possible for someone to target looking for middle infielders
  12. The only thing I hate about this trade is giving up on Urias. What do we do with him now?
  13. I think the best way to win in the playoffs is having 3 great SP and a good, deep bullpen. Bottom 5 offense will not get you a WS though.
  14. There were reasons to be optimistic about his stat line last year - decent strike out and walk numbers mostly. And he only pitched 10 innings this year. But yeah it seems like he’s a couple bad outings away from DFA. The Rays cut a $5M contract and the Angels cut Pujols, we may be next.
  15. I use it through a Roku. As i posted on here, some issues with initial login but eventually it worked fine. Funniest thing I've noticed watching this way is the ads. It cuts away from the normal ads that would be on during commercials and goes to their own I guess Sinclair ads. So, you think no Gruber so that's a good thing. However, it's basically the same 3-4 ads every commercial for like a month now. And they're not even real commercials, it's just advertising for other (I guess) Sinclair owned channels like Stirrd(spelling?), Tennis channel, etc. Half the ads are for Ring of Honor wrestling on one of these channels and for tennis channel. So, essentially they're making no ad revenue off this route. The model makes no sense. I feel like a lot of companies decided they need a streaming service to keep up with the times but don’t bother to figure out ad revenue logistics. Anyway they probably treat it like an internal startup - lose money now, make money someday.
  16. I think the cubs will get a first round pick to just hold Rizzo/Bryant? If so they might want to just do that since salary will prevent a big trade
  17. Cron, Aguilar, Santana, Belt, Moran is my list of 2nd tier 1B that could be available for cheap and they are playing well so far. Although I would prefer a big splash for an awesome bat there, I don’t think that guy will be available.
  18. Hiura's career arc up til now is similar to a lot of players that turned out to be really good. Great first year, lackluster 2nd year. If you look at the good ones, they steadily improved after year 2 though so this year is important for him to work it out in the minors and come back to at least average production.
  19. If they find a cause its probably getting treated with rest anyway, small chance of surgery i guess
  20. Why couldn’t they stagger Cain Yelich off days so we get at least 1 in the lineup?
  21. If Nottingham's bat got him DFA'd at catcher why would they play him at 1b?
  22. I think this link will work, it’s his 5 game woba over the past 3 years. Seems like he’s due for 4-5 of these per year, so just gotta give it more time I guess. https://www.fangraphs.com/players/avisail-garcia/5760/graphs?statArr=50&legend=1&split=base&time=daily&ymin=&ymax=&start=2019&end=2021&rtype=mult&gt1=5&dStatArray=
